Upgrade Vista Home, 32-bit

I am currently on Windows Vista, 32-bit Edition. I have problems to increases.

Can I upgrade Windows 7 or 8?  and if so will lose program data and files saved on my current computer?... have a lot of photos, saved emails, financial program (Quicken), etc.

Is it better to try the upgrade... or grit their teeth and replace the PC?

Bob

Hello

Microsoft is no longer selling Windows 7.

You can upgrade to 7, but 8.1 is a clean install.

Windows 10 came out at the end of this month and 64-bit, is that computers in popular way will these days

If it was me I would replace it as the material probably should be upgraded for the use of later operating systems taking into account the age of a computer with Vista.

But here's a guide for the upgrade.

Before purchasing Windows 7, follow these steps:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=20

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

"Windows 7 system requirements"

Do the following before upgrade you to Windows 8.1.

Check if the manufacturer of your computer/laptop has Windows 8 drivers available for your model.

If this is not available, Windows 8/8.1 not install and work properly for you.

There is a lot of information in this first link from Microsoft:

Download and run the Windows Upgrade Assistant 8.1 of to see if your machine is compatible Windows 8.1 and read the update for Windows 8.1: FAQ here

  • Upgrade Vista home to something that works on a domain

We are a Catholic school that nuns who live on campus.  Several of the nuns have laptops with vista home, who doesn't have the ability to join our domain.  In the past when this happened with XP HOME, would make us us their updated to XP Pro.  However, it seems that we cannot improve Vista Home to Vista Pro.  It also seems that we cannot upgrade Vista Home to Windows 7 Pro.  So that can upgrade us Vista Home to to be able to join the laptops to the domain?

Vista Home can be upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate, there is no way to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro

Can I install lightroom 5 on Windows vista home 32 bits andhow many computers can I install it on? I'm afraid that if my computer rejects lightroom I will get a second chance.

    Bunkieboy,

Lightroom 4 and later will not install or run on the 32-bit editions and 64-bit of Windows XP Edition family or professional

Lightroom 5 et seq. will not install or run on 32-bit editions of Windows 7, Windows 8, 8.1 for Windows and Mac OS 10.6.x

Lightroom CC will not install or run on Mac OS 10.7.x

Please see system requirements for Lightroom for more information.

You can install and activate the perpetual software (purchased) two computers of the same type (mac or pc), as long as you use it one at a time. Lightroom is the exception because it is a cross-platform product, so it can be installed on the pc and mac platforms.

  • Cannot upgrade Vista Home Premium Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I have a computer with an OEM Vista Home Premium 64-bit version installed. I bought Vista Ultimate Upgrade 64-bit and when I try to upgrade instead of clean install I not give me the option to upgrade. Instead, I can install a clean install and lose all programs, settings, I have on my system that has taken a lot of time.  Why the copy I bought directly from the microsoft.com site does not my upgrade, even if it is the version upgrade of Vista? I want to be able to do things such as distance to this computer and the Premium version does not allow me.

Thank you for all the advice and help.

Make sure that you do not have 64-bit installed.

On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have install.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/948537

"How to uninstall Windows Vista service packs"

If the OS installed Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 1 upgrade disk > uninstall SP2 installed operating system > install the upgrade > reinstall SP2.

And run the upgrade of a Vista operating system.

  • Upgrade Vista Home Preimum 32 bit to 64 bit OEM

I currently have a copy of Vista HP 32 bit I have installed from an OEM disk on a system that I built myself.   I read that forms and some people have said that they got a new drive with 64 bit, but as far as I can tell that these people had the commercial version.  I'm OK with buying a new drive for $10, but I prefer to buy a new copy of Windows.  Is there anyway I can upgrade to Vista HP 64-bit without having to buy a new windows license?   If I can just get a new drive and not to get a new key where can I call to order the disc?

Unfortunately, the disks in 64-bit of Windows Vista are no longer available.

Hello world! had a doubt: I plan to upgrade my Vista Home Basic to Home Premium 7, but I don't know if my computer will work as smooth as Vista. My system has achieved:
