Upgrade Win 8 to Satellite A660 - 18 PSAW3E Wizard

I have a Satellite A660-18, part No. PSAW3E which, according to the instructions on the site of Toshiba UK, I've upgraded to Windows 8.

Windows 8 tells me that I need to re-installToshiba Disc Creator and according to the website of UK from Toshiba, that I should be able to do this, (and whatever it takes), thanks to the Toshiba Upgrade Wizard.

So I follow the link on the site of the United Kingdom, and my Satellite A660-18 is not listed. Support page which I am bound to the United States seems to be only for drivers and does not in any case seem to list the upgrade wizard.

I tried a search on the US site and found and installed the upgrade wizard, but when I ran I got a message "this upgrade wizard does not support your region."

Can someone help me with this?

I have updated from other computers, (plu sort of it), without any problem whatsoever. but this one has pulling me my hair out.

Thanks in advance.

Peter

Hi mate,

The upgrade of Windows 8 Wizard is available only for supported laptops Windows 8 models.

Your laptop does not seem to be earning 8 supported because it does not appear on this page from Toshiba:
http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/JSP/checkWindows8Compatible.do?service=EU

Plus I found a Toshiba AU on the driver Toshiba Satellite A660 PSAW3E UE page

So download this message because you are using the wizard, which is not released from this unit.

    Hello.

    My question is:
How can I install Win XP on my laptop?
I'm looking for drivers on my Satellite A660-1 for Win XP, but I can't find anything :(

    PLS, help.

    Hello Kröt

Toshiba offers drivers for operating systems that are supported only. We have the year 2011 and new notebooks are designed for new standards, so it's time to look forward and use the latest technology.
I assume that the percentage of users of Windows XP Home edition on the new models of laptops is so low that there is no need of support for Windows XP Home edition.

If you want to use WXP why you n t use some old laptop model? I mean spending a lot of money for the most recent material and you want to then go back and use the old operating system, there is no sense to me.

You can try to find some googling autour drivers but I'm pretty sure you will never be able to have 100% well configured OS. What you can try to use VMvare and virtual OS.

  • Satellite A660 - 13p (PSAW3E-01T00PPL) - Upper keys stopped working

I installed Windows 7 64-bit with all the drivers. Everything worked fine, but recently stopped working the high keys (eco, WiFi, volume, backlight). Allows only a permutation of Windows. Why?

I reinstalled value-added 1.3.4 package but is not nothing changed

    Sorry for my English =)))

    Hey,.

I m not Satellite A660 owner but generally if you reinstall package of added value, the bright buttons should start working again. But the most important is that you remove the old version of VAP first, before installing the latest version. You must also run CCleaner after uninstalling to remove old registry keys.

Last but not least also check the BIOS. In the BIOS Setup you can enable/disable these buttons and illumination.

    Check this box!

  • Can I install Win 8 on Satellite A660?

    I wasn't able to do.

Please forgive me if its duplicate.

You can install windows 8 on an A660? is there an incompatibility in the car?

Please share any food in return, you may have.

    Thank you.

    Hello

First of all if you want to get more information on 8 to win, I recommend to read the discussions here in the forum category win 8.

Secondly:; Yes, you can install the 8 to win on the A660.
Here you will find the Win 8 system requirements:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/system-requirements

As you can see, your A660 is good enough to win 8.

    > is there a mismatch in car?
It is another question. Check this doc from Toshiba:
_Toshiba upgrade wizard for Windows 8 - calendar of releases and support Models_
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB2A03EU0000R04.htm

  • Satellite A660 - 1GC PSAW3E restart problem

My new jam A660 when the computer is restarted.
After the reboot it gets stuck in the window "TOSHIBA Leading Innovation", and doesn´t react F2 or F12.

Closing with the power button and back, everything works normally.

    Hello

Go to BIOS and set it to the default settings.
BIOS can be entered by pressing F2 when starting the laptop.

After trying to recover the laptop to factory settings.
You can use the HARD drive recovery procedure.
HARD drive recovery can be started by pressing the F8 key by turning on the laptop.
Then choose fix my computer, then choose disk HARD recovery.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A660-1FH fails to back off with Win7 64-bit

Hi, a friend of mine asked me to watch his Satellite A660-1FH (PSAW3E). It is currently running windows 7 64 bit. There initially could not activate so I said I'd take a peek.

It just would not start the power on, it would go beyond the initial screen then cursor would appear at the top on the left and flash a couple of times and freeze. I started and you press f2 to view the bios and the HARD drive was top of the list so I pressed f10 and saved and started. starts fine then he thought may have been an accident that has caused and continues in windows and update for him.
then rebooted and froze! It seems when the restart is selected, it does not restart, everything freezes.

I tried to use hirens resumed but it cannot see the HARD drive when it is started! weird. I got in the car and he ghosts for safety.

Earlier I installed 8 company windows x 64, and it presents the same question. the drive works fine in other pc so you need another piece of equipment. I had already updated the BIOS under win7 and checked all drivers.

I just got a strange win8 startup message saying that a boot or partition file was missing and could not start but him repressing the power button, it starts well.

It does not always restart under a clean install of win8. I came here because I found a post with the same or similar issue. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

    > it just would not start the power on, it would go beyond the initial screen then cursor appears at the top on the left and flash a couple of times and freeze

The blinking cursor appears in the upper left corner indicates a malfunction or memory from HDD. I think you should check both sides.

You said that the drive works fine in another PC. Do you hear the HARD drive?
If so, then the HARD drive is OK and the RAM is probably the troublemaker.

  • Satellite A660: After upgrade to Win 8.1 BSOD is displayed using the keyboard

    Dynabook i7 3D laptop A660.

OK; so I updated my i7 3D Dynabook to form 8.1 Windows (x 64) Windows 7 (x 64), and now the laptop restarts everytime I start to touch the keyboard.

    Other wise works perfectly.

It took me two hundred hours to understand that I was typing on web sites usually when this re-boot occurs. And I could not remember how or why the computer restarted.

When I press the numeric keypad 'more' sign, I get the BSoD immediately. But there are a few presses of the numbers on the keyboard so he can do the same thing.

    I.E.
    If I press 1, 2, 3, its ok.
    But
    If I press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, the laptop gets a BSoD and restarts.

I also installed automatic software (mouse) for a Microsoft mouse, that I was going to use. and I deleted in the "System Properties" after the problem has arisen; but there is no change.

Whenever I tap on the number pad (especially the plus sign), the PS stops with a blue screen of death BSoD.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Roger,
My knowledge the 8.1 Windows isn't supported by Satellite A660 because there is no driver Windows 8.1 special to this series of portable, but even if these drivers have not been released, is not a big problem to install and run the Windows 8.1 on this unit.

I m wondering how you installed the 8.1 to win on this laptop?
You upgrade Windows 7 to 8.1 Win or were you running a fresh install of Win 8.1?

Here's a nice page of Microsoft providing some FAQ about update for Windows 8.1
    [Windows 8.1 update: FAQ | http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8]

In case you have done an UPGRADE to 8.1 Win, you can use Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant to check if your programs and devices are compatible with Windows 8.1.

I would be also interesting to know if the same BSOD would appear if external keyboard would be connected to the laptop.
When using the external keyboard would cause NOT of BSOD, I guess internal keyboard is faulty and could be the troublemaker.

  • Satellite A660 - Win 8.1 power settings option not available

    Hello

    I upgraded my Toshiba (A660) to 8.1 64 x. (clean install)

All if works well except idle protected function, which seem to have disappeared of power options.
In my view, that a driver is required. (I have installed a single Toshiba driver)

They don't seem to have VAP more.

Can someone tell me what is the driver I need to install for this problem?

    Thank you.

    > All works well except idle protected function, which seem to have disappeared of power options.
What exactly is the function of inactive variation? Display backlight control?

Toshiba not stand in my knowledge of Windows on the Satellite A660 8.1 and therefore you would not find drivers Windows 8.1 for this series.

If you want to install the utilities and tools Toshiba Windows 8.1, you will need to seek such software in your own hand. But I'm not quite sure if software published for other portable Toshiba would be compatible with the A660 m model.

However, the fact is that there is no such thing as the package of added value to win 8.1.
This was the case with Vista or Win 7, but it is not available for Windows 8.1.
The VAP has been replaced by the system of Toshiba driver.

  • Satellite A660 - WLan Broadcom 802.11n very slow on Win 8

    Hello.

    I have a Satellite A660 PSAW3a 07r00r and my speedtest is usually 12 or 13 MB/s
After you have installed Windows 8 64 bit, my speed went back to 2 or 3 MB/s.
All my other computers are still at 12 or 13 MB/s.

I tried the drivers 64-bit windows 7 as well but no luck.
It seems to be a common theme when I googled.
My broadcom driver version is 5.60.48.35.

Someone at - it solution or something for me to try?

    Thank you, Will.

    Hello

As I m not wrong the 802.11 standards (B/G/N) WLan wireless card BROADCOM BCM94313 supports.

What Wlan standard are you using exactly?
The Wlan standard can be changed in the Device Manager-> card WLan-> properties-> Advanced tab

Given that the wireless network adapter supports 802.11 B / G and N, the 2.4 Ghz frequency is supported.
This means that max 54 Mbps transfer rate is supported
    But it's just a theoretical value. You will never get to 54 megabits/s usual speed would be ~20Mbit/s = ~ 2.5Mbyte / s

As you already get 2 or 3 MB/s, everythign seems to be OK

  • Satellite A660 - upgrade with keyboard backlight

I have a Toshiba Satellite A660-141. Initially, it was without backlid keyboard, but I recently bot a replacement with feature backlit for my laptop, but when I connect all backlit do not work... Can someone help me to activate it? All the world has the same replacement?

    http://1drv.Ms/1grM9M8

    Hello

I have this model of laptop, but AFAIK this light in the BIOS option is for function buttons. With this option, you can enable/disable illumination for these buttons.
In my opinion it has nothing to do with the keyboard.
Mobile phones with keyboard backlit have BIOS option for keyboard only and you don't have it so I think that it is not supported by the BIOS and upgrade is not possible.

  • Satellite A660/07U - problem install the nVidia for Win 7 64 bit driver

    A660/07U Windows 7 64 bit

At first, I need to install this driver because apparently it will solve a problem with the current driver that is causing the computer freezes when booting with an external monitor as main display.

I downloaded the Setup file of driver from the Toshiba web site and it's extraction ok but when I run the program it just then immediately quits without installing drivers.

The Device Manager in windows seems not help either, because when I point to the extracted files it tells me that I already have the drivers, even if my current version of the driver is a lower number than the one downloaded.

    Restart made no difference.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

I replaced the 4 GB sticks and it works fine.

    Hello

To me it sounds like it's modules are not compatible or have bad sectors
As Akuma writes, these performance modules are risky in notebook because you don t have options to change the values of latency than on desktop computers. So, I always prefer to upgrade computer laptop RAM Kingston modules.

But before that you buy other modules, try a BIOS update and load the default settings.
