Upgrade Windows 7 to 10 with unrecognized product key

Hello all,.

I have a laptop Sony VIAO that works on Win7. My daughter has downloaded a virus that crashed the machine. As it is now a common practice, there was no disk Windows backup software to restore my computer. I received a copy of Win7 to a friend - Yes, he is not saved, because it does not accept my previous product key. I decided to upgrade to Win10, but it's always the same question - does not accept my product Code. Is there any hope, or am I condemned to stay with my laptop "unregistered" under Win7?

Thank you!

Sorry for my delay in answering all of the help I received. I could finally work on my computer a few days ago & still had trouble, until I reread the instructions & engraved Win10 on a disk image. Then he allowed me to use my product key of my original Win 7 software Code to load the new operating system. Thank you once again, JW & Andre!

    someone I gifted an old laptop with a lot of things about what I don't want and stuff I want is missing. I would like to know how to re - install windows on the laptop with the product key on the back of my laptop.

    or, even better, if someone could find me a way to get a disk to restore to factory without purchasing information, which would be awsome.

    I thank you for your time and have a good day.

    If the laptop is one of the well known brands, he may well have a restore partition.  If you do not have a manual to the user of this computer, then go to the manufacturers website and look for the documentation.  At the very least, you should be able to find information about how to restore the laptop from the recovery partition.

    If the restore partition has been decimated, the manufacturer may still have available for a nominal cost of installation diskettes.

    Upgrade installing XP Pro Media Center of in the Windows environment.  Just start the installation of XP Pro computer and then insert your Media Center CD in the CD-ROM drive and upgrade the installation, provide the Media Center product key when you are prompted.  If this fails, you will need to install from a flat folder, post again if the upgrade fails and we can give you the flat installation instructions.

  • Pure install W7 Pro 64-bit and activate with a product key and license of W7 pro upgrade.

    As part of the upgrade of the hard drive in my laptop, I want to do a clean installation of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  My current license is an upgrade to W7 Home Premium 64 bit I bought after getting the laptop (several years ago).

    Can I install the ISO Digital River Win7Pro64 I downloaded and activate it using my current license?

    Only if the Windows 7 Professional 64 bit license is an upgrade or full version, not an Express upgrade.

    If it is, then Yes, you can download Windows 7 Professional 64 bit from Digital River and use it with your product key.

    If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

    How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

    Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

    When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

    Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

    Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

    Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

    When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

    Scroll down to the Windows Activation

    Click the link x days before activation.

    Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

    Select the Activation of the phone

    Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

    Click Next, call the number listed

    Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

    Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

    They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

    Click next to complete the activation.

    However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

    15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

    So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • Windows XP Home edition has crashed - how to return WXP and use with the product key?

    Hello. I bought an Equium L20 last year and after 1 year my windows crashed due to a virus. I want to know how to get a real windows xp OS because the product under my laptop key is always saved for me and is a legitimate product but I can't get windows because it was obviously preinstalled and no CD was given to me with the package.

    How can I get back Windows to use with my product key on my WIN sticker below my laptop.

    Hello

    First of all, it is very strange that recovery CD is not delivered with your laptop. It's hard to believe, but anything is possible. As you know after buying a new product, it is very important to check all orders sent with it and if something is missing, you must call the local as soon as possible and not to wait a year.

    Sorry but this key code belongs to original recovery image and you can't use it with every installation of Windows XP Home edition CD. In your case, there are two options:
    -You can buy the CD of facilities Microsoft original WXP (with the key correctly code) or
    -Contact the partner of service allowed in your country and order the new CD from recovery for your laptop model.

    All that s!

    Bye and good luck!

    Hello, Jeff

    At first, I must say that it is not toshiba Help Center, but user forum created by Toshiba, so if you wait for the response from Toshiba people here you are in the wrong place.
    In any case, in this forum, you can pick up some very useful information and a lot of people here can help you with your problems.

    Return to described the issue.
    Unfortunately you do not understand how it works with the product key and Windows Setup, so I'll try to help you with this.
    Each computer toshiba laptop comes with preinstalled operating system (recovery image) and the product key at the bottom of your laptop belongs to this version. With other words: when you buy the new laptop, you have to pay for hardware, operating system and a license for this preinstalled OS. Product key at the bottom is not a kind of universal product key and cannot be used for activation of another version of Windows.

    You can use the delivered Toshiba recovery disc that contains mage replicated several times and each time you will have activated the operating system. When you use the Microsoft disk for the installation of the OS you must have valid product key which belongs to this particular version.

    In your case product key is for Vista, and you cannot use it for Win7 activation. This product key is... unnecessary.

    If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • I have toshiba laptop and I have the product key and I do not know what windows is I can find it with the product key

    I have toshiba laptop and I have the product key and I do not know what windows is I can find it with the product key or any body help, I can't use it

    You must order a set of recovery disc for the computer from the manufacturer - this will install the appropriate drivers for your system automatically, as well as packaged applications.

    If you have not formatted the disk (or replaced) existing partition recovery may still be present - see your manual for details.

    It is possible to download Vista - see here for more details - http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/57-windows-vista-direct-download-links -, but note that it is not a simple process!

    You can't say the product key.  If you use an Installation of Vista genuine disc it will install its own version to know the product key when you are prompted to enter (all versions of the same size of the bit are included on the authentic disc).

    I hope this helps.

    Yes.

    As long as it's a DVD from Microsoft and not a computer Manufacturer'e Recovery DVD.

    Read the information below.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
