Windows Vista Service Pack (basic information)

    Hello

I know this may seem a simple/stupid question, but I do not understand what are "Service Packs".  I don't know much about computers.

I have restored my laptop to the factory setting today and I reinstall my programs again.  I am trying to install a new program as well (Autodesk Inventor 2012).  The installation says I can't because I need Service Pack 2 and I only have Microsoft Vista Home Premium (Version: 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001).

What are Service Packs?  Can I upgrade to Service Pack 2 for free?  If yes how?  If I update it will help or hinder my system?  Any pack is better than another?

Thanks for the information and assistance that you can give.

You can install Service Pack 2 very simply - go to Windows Update and check for new updates - then install all available updates.

Once they are complete, return again (after a reboot) and do the same thing - repeat until there are no left.

Along the way you will be installed Service pack 2 :)

  • Upgrade Windows Vista Home Premium for Windos Pro 8 on HP laptop by way of a new facility.

I tried upgrading to Windows 8 but experienced a problem and Windows Vista has been re-installed automatically. Now, I intend to do an install clean and bought a new disc of hard for it. Then I discovered that the previous version of Windows must be running on the PC before you can perform an upgrade to Windows 8. Suggestions how to go? Thank you.

It supports a wide range of image file formats, and it's free.

(The steps are the same, except that you do not create a repair disk but complete an installation DVD)

Note: Always use high quality DVD + R media and slower burning (4 x or 6 x) speed is offered a choice.

After installing Vista activate using your Vista product key and then run the upgrad Windows 8.

  • I have final cut 6.0.6 pro, I can upgrade to the latest version for free

I have a computer to work with Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 and want to update to the latest version.  I can spend for free or is there a fee for that?  I don't see anywhere in Final Cut where I update the software.

There is no path upgrade between Final Cut Pro 7 and earlier versions and FCP - x. They are completely different applications that share only the name of Final Cut Pro.

FCP - X is available for purchase through the Mac App store.

Your computer must use an operating system to download FCP - X.

  • Can I install Windows vista 64-bit for free if I have the 32-bit version preinstalled (OEM)?

I have Windows Vista 32 bit pre-installed on my computer and now I'm ready to add more memory to my machine.

I've already paid for Windows Vista, when I bought my Dell computer a few years (I "réinstallation DVD Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit").

I guess I can legally get and install the 64 bit version of the same operating system (I mean for free, of course)?   I don't want to pay for Windows 7.

Whether or not it is an option would be between you and Dell.  Copies of the retail Windows come with two discs, but OEM copies that are sold with computers come with one or the other, the one that you ordered when you ordered the computer.  If Dell doesn't want to or can't provide you with a copy, then no one else is able to.

  • Can I upgrade to Acrobat 9 Pro for free?

I had to reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro and expected to get AutoUpdate updates. Then I discovered that it was off-support.  Fair enough.

So I found this Web page

Buying guide | Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

which suggests that I can update for free.

Download and try the upgrade fails, but when he asks the previous version it gray-out my V9, indicating (I think) that newer versions are extensible.

I must have misunderstood the buying guide.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you.

    Steve

Certainly not free to upgrade to the current version (11), but it is always up to date. Older versions (8.7..) is no longer get a discount.

I could be wrong, but I think you may be reading 'right to upgrade' as "the right of free update.

  • Can I use a key to upgrade Windows 7 32 - bit for the upgrade to Vista 64 - bit, 7 64-bit, with a 64-bit upgrade disc?

It's a bit complicated, but I appreciate all help.

    I have the following:
    1. access to a genuine copy of Windows Vista 64-bit (regardless of the version I want) through IEEE Computer Society.
    2. a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit upgrade disc purchased through a program of student software in 2010. Shortly after using the disk and the key, the laptop I was using died due to hardware problems.
    3. a drive to upgrade Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit bought via the same pattern of student software, including an unused key.
Student software system only allows users to buy a copy of each version, so I can't buy it simply another copy of the 64-bit version.
I wonder if it is possible to use the key of the 32-bit version with the version 64-bit upgrade disk to upgrade a 64 bit Windows Vista installation to Windows 7? If this is not the case, unfortunately, I'll be stuck with Vista.

  • How can I get a new Windows 7 product key for free?

I am a person who has the life out of a well-being which means I have very limited funds for money to buy a new product key for my windows 7.  Now to say that I bought my laptop on the street market, and lucky me a friend bought me a new hard drive form my computer and I don't know what or how he got windows7 here but he did. With someone who doesn't have a credit card and life out of $500 a month, how can I get a new product key, which I can't afford and so I am unable to work

Please if anyone can help it would be so appreciated.
    Tyler

This means that you must install the original version of Windows shipped with your computer if you are not Windows 7. Otherwise, you will need to set up or ask a family friend or a member of the family gift that you register.

If you know a student, you could ask to purchase a license at price reduced for you.

  • HP Pavilion 23: upgrade windows 10

I bought recently (today) this computer because than the other is fried, even with a surge protector.  I had just installed 10 Windows on it and was very happy with it until a couple of Sundays ago when he nailed. I installed all day and went through the process to get around 200 + updates from Windows Update.  I have reset until I'm blurry eyes, passed through the test at Microsoft to see if I'm able to get the Windows 10 icon, and it says that I must always install things.

While at Wal-Mart, there are stickers everywhere telling me that I can download Windows 10 once again, for free.  What I am doing wrong?  I downloaded everything - printer driver (you have new printer, ran everything), ran windows update about 20 + times now, and this is my last resort tonight before you go to bed.  Reset and let everying charge probably helped, but it didn't bring up the icon for Windows 10.

    Thank you

Do not forget that you did your recovery in case of problem discs.

Problems of compatibility that you know and that you have your Windows license key available if need be.

The icon you usually takes a few days to appear as soon as you are up to date, however, you can download and create an ISO of 10 Windows to install Windows 10:

can I upgrade Edition Vista Home premium to windows 7 using vista anytime upgrade for free?

Lol you cannot use Anytime Upgrade upgrading Vista to Windows 7.   The Vista program to THE was the upgrade of a Vista edition to a higher edition of Vista only.  The Vista program to THE ended when Vista was removed from retail sales.  It has never been free.

THE present program is to upgrade an edition of Windows 7 to a superior and is only available to current users of Windows 7.

If you want to upgrade Vista to Windows 7, you must purchase a standard upgrade of Windows 7 at retail price.  Please see
