Upgrade Windows 8.1 Dreamspark ISO without losing desktop applications

Hello.

My girlfriend and I are both students who have obtained a license for Windows 8.1 Professional through our dreamspark accounts.

I downloaded the ISO and installing from the desktop on my PC first, to try it before you perform the upgrade on my girlfriend's cell phone.

I like much better than Windows 8 OS, but the upgrade, I lost all my programs office and now have to reinstall, which takes a lot of time.

Is it possible that I can upgrade the ISO without losing all the desktop applications?

It is NOT the preview or a RTM leak obtained illegally, but a final version, we found on our dreamspark accounts.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Okay, I found the problem.

On my laptop, I was upgrading from version N to a regular version.
When you paste the same version and language, you lose nothing.

  • I have a lot of music on my xp system and want to be able to play on my computer laptop windows 7 and on my windows7 phone without losing sound or image, how can I do?

I want to be able to take music from my xp and play on my windows 7 and also be able to download all the music and stuff for my windows 7 to my xp without losing something.

You can create a music library using your windows media player on the XP machine and copy the entire contents of a USB key or external hard drive and copy the contents of the disc back on your Windows 7 machine.

For Windows phone 7, you can connect your phone to your laptop and synchronize the contents of your laptop on the phone using Windows Media Player.

Note: Depending on the age of the laptop, you need a drive adapter.

  • Windows 8: "we cannot connect without these permissions!" with Facebook

I have a very bizarre and unexpected behavior in Windows 8:

-With any app or desktop application that attempts to connect with Facebook (Photos, Photo Gallery, Messenger, etc.). I get in the part 'connect' and I actually have to GRANT access to Microsoft for what they want to to allow me access to.
-As soon as confirmation of the access granted, Windows 8 think about 5 seconds and then raises the following message:
"We cannot connect without these permissions."
"You allow us to do the following on Facebook:
And then used lists access Facebook Chat, post to Facebook like you and manage your notifications.
-If I'm actually in my accounts settings Facebook Apps, Microsoft App is actually GRANTED all these permissions that Windows 8 applications are rejected!
Any suggestions? Anyone else suffering from this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rafa.

Hi everyone, this is not a problem to solve, it's a reality :)

Integrations of Facebook with the operating systems Windows, applications and services is no longer supported (or available somehow).  Recent changes to the Facebook interface that Microsoft used have made is no longer compatible.

I'm sorry to say that the only alternative is to use the Facebook application instead: download here

  • Can I upgrade xp pro sp2 or 3 to windows 7 without losing my data

Can I upgrade xp pro sp2 or 3 to windows 7 without losing my data? I have all versions of software microsoft ever made including all old dos programs. There will should be ashamed of yourself not to do all versions of upgrade to windows 7 without losing data or programs. I have all your programs and all of them are legal and regged. I want to improve my xp and my pc vista to windows 7. There will have screwed the American public and I don't appreciate not being not able to be upgraded to win 7 without losing anything.

If you have another partition, you can install Win7 on it. And have a dual boot

But if you don't have a spare partition you have (or will be at) do a clean install. Which means format and reinstall Win7

  • Upgrade to windows 10 on a new SSD without losing files

    Hello

So I have here is my situation:

-A got a new SSD, makes my old hard drive in an external.
-Already installed on my new SSD of things, and my old HD has everything on my old computer.

So I would like to know if I could:

-install the windows 10 update on my old HD, without calling on my old computer.
-install the new windows 10 (not the upgrade but after I installed on my old HD), on my new SSD without losing files and programs already on it.

    That's all, thank you

I explained to him that you can store everything, including the image on the hard drive, then return it to the outer shell to start the imaging boot disk to apply the image to the SSD.

However if you do not want to remove the SSD, it is possible using startup disk Macrium made on another PC to boot the PC with attached externally, save the image partition system and the OS on another partition (shrunk if necessary c using The Partition Wizard CD boot), transfer the data to the SSD and then apply the image to the SSD after the removal of its partition using Macrium or Partition Wizard.

  • Upgrade to 7 to XP without losing my data

Hello. I have a desktop computer with Windows XP installed and a lot of personal data. All I want to do is upgrade to 7 without losing any of my data. Now the problem is that I have Windows 7, stored in a USB key, not on a CD. I need a CD but I have no idea of how to migrate from a USB Pendrive 8 GB.

It doesn't matter if your Windows 7 installation media is a DVD or a USB flash or else drive.  You cannot "upgrade" from XP to Win 7.  You must do a clean install, which means that you save (backup) all your personal data to some external media and restore it after installing Windows 7.

In general, you will also need to install - the original installation media or the downloaded Setup files - all of your applications.

Microsoft has made an arrangement with Laplink to provide a free version Of Laplink's PC Mover Express that you can use to back up and restore your data (although you can use any method you like).  If you want to buy a more robust version, Laplink claims that its PC Mover Professional will also transfer programs - but your mileage may vary.

  • Reinstall Windows without losing personal files

I have an external hard drive I have Windows 7 on, but recently it seems to have got some corrupted files because it does not start. It gets past the windows splash screen, and then sits down with a cursor on a black screen. I can move the mouse cursor.

I think that the best way to solve this problem would be to reinstall all windows files.
I can plug the hard drive into another computer and view the files of the operating system of the computer.
In short, what I'm asking if there's a way to reinstall all files in windows without losing all my personal files

You can perform a custom installation.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
