Upgrades T60/61

Hi all

My father gave me his T60, type 2007WXS with a 512 MB ATI X 1300 and a Core Duo T2400, after he bought a new T430s. I just installed Windows 7 on it, she gets a 3.5 WEI.

In any case I was watching upgrades of the processor, and it needs a new battery. I've already updated the 3 GB RAM. I wanted to use it as a laptop that I could take with me to school. I'm doing a few shows, light games, video editing, and I wanted to try Valve GDF. However, I tried TF2 today and the X 1300 was not at the height. Now, I understand that different motherboards have the best graphics cards, but I've given up on finding part numbers/FRU. Can someone give me the number FRU/part of the motherboard with the best graphics over-pants?

I really like the T60 machine, but I saw this deal on Newegg

http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16834310523

and it looks like I want to spend more money on the T60 that it would be to just get the T61, which seems to have a better graphics anyway. I'm not a fan of the weird screen, however, and is more of a heavier, that is a minus.

TL; should Dr - I spend the money to upgrade the T60 or get the T61?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!

The T61 looking to a integrated graphics card Intel who are barely in height with your current X 1300.

Secondly, GPU on the models 'p' is not fire Pro but V5200/5250, which are worth better than X 1300 but still pretty dated by today's standards. T6x series were never to be platforms for games...

Don't bother upgrading the processor. Get a good SSD instead.

I have a couple of X 1400 and boards V5200 sitting around... If you choose to take the path of upgrading, feel free to leave me a private message.

  • Z60m / T60 HDD upgrade

    Hi all

I offered to upgrade the HARD drive in a T60 opportunity bought by a friend of their son, on my advice. The HARD drive is 40 GB and his sister has a portable HDD 500 GB on her new computer, imagine how it feels!

I've been putting it for a while because of the cost of readers of IBM, which I suppose should be used. Reading that it is possible to upgrade using purchased Besides hard drives and seeing that the cost is less than half of those of IBM, I decided that I might as well update my Z60m at the same time.

In any case, the point is that I'm concerned about compatibility issues. I saw, in a thread, a link to the firmware of the HARD drive updates where there was a list of supported hard disks and found two Seagate drives in the list that I can buy relatively cheaply. Before seeing the list I was going to buy some Toshiba drives that were a bit cheaper than the Seagate ones. I am to be more careful or my way of thinking just that it's a 'safer' bet to buy Seagate drives in the hope that they will at least work out of the box, even if the firmware updates cannot. Are Seagate drives as good as any other compatible? I see that people go to the Hitachi drives but they are more expensive still.

    Sorry for the hike.

    Thanks for your help.

As long as it's a laptop SATA drive, 9.5mm/2.5' format, it will work in your ThinkPad (s) without any problem whatsoever.

    Enjoy the upgrade.

  • Issue of CPU/processor T60 upgrade

    Hi all

I have a T60 (1953-DAF model) with a 1.66 GHz processor (type T2300E). I want to upgrade the processor to one with a VT (Virtualization Technology in support of 64-bit) capability, say T2400 or higher.

I would like to know if there is any limitation imposed by the current model for what is CPU upgrade is. I don't know where to find this information.

If possible, is there something I have to do outside of replacing the CPU physically?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    /Mebs

You can go to T7xxx and T5xxx CPU in the socket m format is not what you really need to do to upgrade other than the CPU. I recommend that you get the T5xxx, i.e. T5500 and T5600, etc..

Only the T7xxx was VT and 64-bit.

T5xxx in Socket M does not VT support, it only supports 64-bit.

CPU T2x00 can only support VT and no. 64-bit operating system.

    (2) Yes, 4 GB is the maximum that the machine will start with. However, only 3 GB is used due to the chipset limitation, regardless of the OS used.

    (3) the fastest n ° the CPU, you can install is T7600 which is Core 2 Duo clocked at 2.33 GHz.

    (4) you will need to replace the motheboard. The T60p end Board machines with ATi GPU V5250 was all that could handle a T60.

  • The T60 HARD drive upgrade

    Hello.

I think the upgrade from my first laptop, T60. Can someone tell me if

    HITACHI Travelstar 7K 750

will work on this laptop. I heard T60 do not support SATA II.

    Thank you.

It will work well in your machine, but in SATA I speeds. That's all there is to it.

  • T60 memory upgrade

I have a T60 with 1 GB I want to upgrade. The question is whether it is possible and an advantage for me to upgrade to 2 GB in the empty slot, or the ekstra memory must be the same size as the original memory, which is 1 GB? Is it possible to have a combination of 1 GB + 2 GB or should it be 1 GB + 1 GB?

    Welcome to the forum!

Mix & match is fine, your machine will have up to 4 GB, although only 3 GB will be addressable due to the chipset limitation. If you have a single 1 GB DIMM installed, an extra 2 GB DIMM is all you really need.

    Good luck.

  • T60 60 GB SATA 320 GB HARD drive upgrade

I know just enough to be dangerous, please bear with me.

I have a T60 1953 - D7U with the original Toshiba 60 GB HDD SATA/150, which is saturated.  I've used Norton Ghost to copy the 60 GB drive to a Fijitsu 320 HDD SATA/300, which was in an external USB enclosure.  Both are 5400 RPM.  I copied the MBR.

After that I installed the 320 GB drive, the T60 will not start.  Using F12 to interrupt the boot process, I see the listed 320 GB drive, but apparently it does not appear as a boot drive.

Is there anything else I need to do for the T60 to boot from the new drive?

Note: the controller SATA Mode Option is set to "AHCI".  The other option is "compatibility."   That this has something to do with it.

Add ' l Info: initially, I tried to copy the 60 GB and the 320 GB using Acronis True Image v7.0 which was on a bootable CD.  Acronis has a msg of error E000101F4 No. Drive 0 Found.  She not only saw the attached USB 320 GB drive.  That's why I went to Ghost.  Y at - it no problem using Ghost for this copy?

Thank you very much for your time.

    Pontiac196, welcome to the forum,

the SATA mode has nothing to do with it, the problem here is that your player target must be inserted as primary drive in your T60 for the cloning process to work.

The following knowledge base articles must contain I hope that all the info you need.

    X 61 image deployment - a material similar to T60

Happy, cloning and let know us how it works.

  • T60 processor upgrade

Can someone check if this "processor Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo - 3.00 GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333 MHz FSB, Socket LGA775" processor is compatible with the T60?

Anyone knows what is the fast processor compatible with my T60 based i945PM (SB 82801GHM) - currently I have Intel Core Duo T2400.

    Welcome to the forum!

CPU - Z allows to check the revision of the motherboard on your T60. If it is 3, you can go to the Core 2 duo up to T7600.

    I hope this helps.

  • The T60 SSD HARD drive upgrade

I have a Lenovo T60 (2623-KFU) for about 3 years now, and it's always hard with no real problems. I was thinking some SSD solutions. Is it possible (and not void the warranty) to replace the hard drive with an SSD Fluxsol? I hope that the Motherboad/BIOS/others does not limit this anyway.

Otherwise, I do not use my WWan device and was considering to replace care wireless with a SSD Mini PCI-e card. I know that blocking the BIOS a few components, but is the restriction to only wireless cards, or for all?

Yes the SATA 2.5 inch SSD will work, but it is limited to SATA1 mode, you are able to change the hard disk without affecting the warranty because it is considered to be a customer replaceable unit or THOUGHT.

  • T60 memory upgrade options

    Welcome to the forum!

The two RAM slots are under the palm rest.

While you can install 4 GB, the machine will be able to use the / 3GB, due to a limitation of the chipset.

BTW, "Lenovo" vs "IBM" brand doesn't mean anything. It is just cosmetic. All * series x 6 was built by Lenovo.

  • Update LCD on T60 2008-CTO

    Hello everyone.

I'm trying to replace a screen LCD XGA on my T60 2008-CTO with a SXGA Panel + for more resolution.

According... http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-62784 , the frame numbers match and that should be possible.

So I bought the said Panel of... http://www.ETech.com/item--NYK412-034 and it does not work properly.

For all connected, I get gradually melted into lines of colors on the screen.

If I disconnect and reconnect the control panel while the laptop is turned on, I get a very distorted picture and wrong dimension on it and change the resolution in windows changes the serious distortion a bit.

Could someone shine light on it?

Is that possible even exchange, or the resolution of the LCD permanently within the motherboard somehow?

I currently have a LTN141XA-L01 as my LCD XGA panel if it matters.

    Thanks in advance,

    -DeagleRevolver

    Welcome to the forum!

Yes, you can upgrade your T60 a SXGA + Panel, however, I doubt that what you bought is a real issued by Lenovo LCD, plus probably a sign 'no brand generic but compatible with everything '.

There are a number of RUF on this 'new' LCD?
