Upgrading processors N100 0689-29U

I've seen several posts on upgrades of the processor for the N100 and I wondered if they work for all types of N100 laptops.

Mine is a type of N100 0689-29U that currently has an Intel Centrino Duo T2300 (1.66 GHz). I would like to move to something of 2 GHz or more if possible. I am running 2 GB of RAM, which was the max Lenovo said that will support the machine.

The reason for my upgrade is an attempt to accelerate a fire modeling program that I am running. Is it a upgrade processor speed up my computing power or would I waste my money?

Thank you.

You have the format socket M, which are compatible with the following types of CPU.

Intel Core Solo
Intel Core Duo
Intel Core 2 Duo (T5x00, T7x00)
Intel Celeron M

However, there is a limited support for the version chip Socket M Core 2 Duo T7x00, a bios flash may be needed to do their jobs, but most of these Core 2 Duo chips are quite expensive.

CPU represents that part of the bottleneck of performance in a laptop, there is also the factor of GPU, ram, optimization of the software and hard disk file fragmentation.

If you're going to get a CPU, you should consider the T7x00 series, however, they run a tad warmer that CPU you have now.

But rather than make an upgrade with your laptop, I probably just save money and get a half decent job for modeling programs.

  • Lenovo 3000 N100 0689 - 66G... Is it possible to upgrade the processor?

It has Mobile Intel Celeron M410 1.46 Mhz.Yonah Socket 479

    Ghipset: Mobile Intel Callistoga-G i945GM

Is it possible to upgrade the processor and what it could be?

You can switch to any processor Socket M, if the BIOS of your laptop allows and if your computer laptop cooling supports all. You can go as high as the Core Duo T2700, which is 2.33 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache. Or you can go as high as the Core 2 Duo T7600, which is also 2.33 GHz, but with 4 MB of L2 cache.

    Core Duo T2050, T2250, T2350, T2450

    Core Duo T2300 T2400 T2500, T2600, T2700

    Core 2 Duo T5500, T5600, T7200, T7400, T7600

And of course you still have the Pentium dual-core Processor that are compatible. And those aren't the only ones, I'm sure there's more.

    Robert

    Hello

    You can upgrade the RAM.
You can use the DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) or 533 MHz 200 - PIN SODIMM modules.
You can use a 1 GB RAM module this is the max!
There is also an internal RAM which can be removed if only one slot is expandable!

With regard to upgrading the CPU.
Usually it s not advised to replace/upgrade of the processor because the BIOS has not been tested with other processors

  • Portege A100 - possible to upgrade processor?

Is Hey, also possible to upgrade the current 1.4 ghz processor to a much larger processor, such as a 3 ghz processor? If Yes can - that someone recommend where I could buy a chip... and I need a toshiba technician to fit?

    Daniel

    Hello

Portege A100 is a tiny unit and the increase in the temperature and the cooling of the processor is very difficult on this laptop.
The biggest CPU will produce more heat, and this could lead to overheating problems.

I put t think it's possible to upgrade the processor to 3 GHz.
In any case, in most cases it of not possible to upgrade the processor and not advised to do on laptops.
Maybe you'll be able to install a stronger CPU 1.4 Ghz, but you're not sure that the OS will be stable after upgrade

PS: You will lose the warranty if you open the Notepad or remove all the parts inside the laptop

The information I needed was the (in) at the end of the model.  Here are the processors that have been fully tested to work in your motherboard:

    TDP: up to 65W
    Socket type: LGA 1155
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Intel Pentium G4xx (Sandy Bridge) core
Dual-core Intel Pentium G5xx (Sandy Bridge)
Dual-core Intel Pentium G6xxT (Sandy Bridge)
Dual-core Intel Pentium G6xx (Sandy Bridge)

    Intel Core 2 Quad (Y) Q9xxxx

    Intel Core 2 Duo (W) E8xxx

Intel Core 2 Quad (K) up to Q6600

    Core 2 Duo E6x00 (C) until E6700

    Core 2 Duo E4x00 (C) until E4400

Can anyone tell my which is one that should be in the list above?

    Thank you

    Hi, Hellmut:

Is attached a comparison side by side 2 processors:

    http://Ark.Intel.com/compare/27251, 30781

You get about 400 MHz speed more, double the cache memory L2, and 266 Mhz FSB more speed above your current.

I see used them and working for $70.00 on eBay, buy it now.

For $70, I could do the upgrade. If you can find one for less, I would without a doubt.

Make sure that you get the right processor E6700. You want the 2.66 (Conroe), not the 3.20 (Wolfdale) one.

  • Upgrading processor on Satellite Pro M40 PSM46E

I currently have a Celeron M 1.4 GHz CPU in my laptop, the model 360, socket 479. Is it possible to upgrade the Core Solo or Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo)? If this is not the case, what are my upgrade options? I'd be happy with the Pentium M processors.

CPU - Z says my motherboard is an ATI with a Chipset RS400/RC400 SB400. I tried Googling this for the support of the processor, but it always birngs upward versions of office, not mobile.

Usually it s not easy and not recommended to upgrade the CPU on laptops, because you won't have no guarantee that after such upgraded the laptop will run stable.
The fastest CPU produce more heat, and this could lead to overheating.

But to my knowledge, the units have been delivered with these processors:
    Intel processor Dothan (533 MHz) 730 (1.6 G), 740 (1.73 G), 750 (1.86 G), 760 (2.0 G) and 770 (2.13GHz)

  • Upgrading processor on Portege 3410ct

Hey, is also possible to upgrade the current 400ghz celeron processor to a processor of many bigger, how?

    Hello

I think that it of not possible to improve it.
This laptop is a little older. Am I wrong?
I found information that the Portege 3410 was shipped only with Intel Celeron 400 Mhz CPU.
For example, the Portege 3440 was delivered with the PIII 500 MHz.
Both devices appear to be very similar. But I don t think that it would be possible to use a PIII 500 MHz in Portege 3410. I'm not sure about the decision but the PIII produce more heat and this could lead to overheating problems.

Furthermore you wouldn t really feel the increase in performance. Therefore, the upgrade don't make sense to me.

  • Upgrading processor on Tecra S2-163

I think about upgrading the processor in my Tecra S2 - 163 and wondering if she can handle the Pentum M 780...

I thought that, of what is written in the manual, it would be at least treat the Pentium M 770, is this OK?

    Hello

I found some info that Tecra S2 comes with three different processors Intel-Pentium-M (Dothan): 760 processor, processor 740 and processor 730.

Generally the replacement of the processor is not possible due to a permanent connection method. The processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package).
