Upgrading RAM on Satellite L50-B-1DZ - need advice

Hello

I want to improve my new laptop to use 8 GB to 4 GB. The site of the main product specification provides all the information, I need to know if I should order DIMM or SODIMM memory modules?

Also, is it possible for a client to easily make this themselvess by removing the panels without having to take the thing completely detached?

http://www.Toshiba.co.UK/laptops/satellite/l50-b/satellite-l50-b-1DZ/

standard: 4 096 (1 x) MB, RAM DDR3L (1 333 MHz)
maximum extension: 8 192 MB
technology: DDR3L (1 333 MHz) RAM

Appropriate advice or technical manual covering this would be great.
The on their site are too "basic" user guides

Kind regards

Peter B, UK

Well, the procedure for the RAM upgrade is a bit tricky. There is no RAM module Bay separated with easy access.

To access the free RAM slot, the plastic cover of the bottom must be removed.
You need to remove the ODD (optical disc) as well as the battery and next by the screws around the cover.

But remove the cover would mean that you would negate the warranty.

I put t know if you want to lose the warranty, I think that security is a very important fact which should be considered before performing this upgrade procedure.

    Hello

Portable specification of your laptop was offered with 4 GB of RAM, but it can be upgraded up to 16 GB.

The memory modules are compatible RAM for your machine:
    2 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M2G
    4 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M4G
    8 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M8G

Unfortunately, this model of phone has memory button placed on the low side so I think the upgrade memory by the owner of the laptop is not supported. Theoretically, you can do this alone, but if you remove some components hardware this will void the warranty so I think you should contact the nearest Toshiba, service provider and ask for help.

Memory modules, you can get on your own and just ask service to put in place. I can't imagine that it will be expensive.

    Hello

According to the specification of the notebook this laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB. It comes with a single 4 GB module inside, so you can get a 4 GB and put it in the empty slot.

Compatible 4 GB of RAM has PA3918U-1M4G part number. Using this part number you can find compatible and right RAM module for memory upgrade.

Toshiba offers modules to 4 GB compatible and tested for your machine and there PA3677U-1M4G part number. Check the specs of this module and pick up info that one you can use.

Please note: a lot of people are trying to use some modules cheap and later report here on this forum about the issues so I highly recommend you to obtain 100% compatible RAM.

  • Adding RAM to Satellite L50-A-1EH

    Hello
I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L50-A-1EH. I wanted to add an additional 4 GB of Ram up to a total of 8 GB. The laptop has 2 slots and is expandable to 16 GB, so it should be easily achievable.

The problem is however that I tried several types of modules, but none seem to work. I've tried different brands such as Corsair, Kingston, Transcend, but after installation and put into the laptop market, it stops after a few seconds.

I called technical support Toshiba who gave me a certain module Kingston Toshiba, which I also tried, but with the same result (Kingston Toshiba pa5104u-1m4g).

The only that worked, was the exact same module already included in the notebook.
I took this one on an another L50-A-1EH in the store.
However, the problem is that this module is not sold in regular stores.

I tried various things, the BIOS updates, switching to the top modules, in one of the modules, put 2 of the same thing, but nothing seems to work. I've mailed to Toshiba and their response was that it should work, otherwise I should call the support desk, but because of the interview, they are not available until this Tuesday.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Well, usually it takes not a big problem to use the modules developed by other manufacturers. I use modules of different brand, but to be honest, I had the best experience using the modules of Kingston.

However, I found the modules recommended for the L50 - A Satellite and generally these modules must be compatible:

    8GB DDR3L - 1600 PA5104U-1M8G
    4 GB DDR3L - 1600 PA5104U-1M4G

You should be able to get these pieces of registered maintainer Toshiba in your country.

  • Upgrading RAM on Satellite S5100-201

Is someone can you please tell me what I need to buy to upgrade to 1 GB? I think I have a 256 and a 128 to present but am a novice and have no idea how many pins, speed, dram etc.

    Thank you

Unfortunately, it s not possible to upgrade on the Satellite 5100 201 up to 1024 MB memory!
The max value memory is 512 MB.
If you have a 256 MB module, you can use the other to upgrade the laptop to 512 MB.
It seems that the only location cannot handle 512 MB module

    Hello

First some general information on your machine:
Your laptop can be upgraded to the top 8 GB and max upgrade, you can use both modules of memory of 4 GB.
Compatible 4 for GB DDR3 - 1066 MHz apart number PA3677U-1M4G. Module of memory with this part number is tested and 100% compatible with your device.

If you check this forum you will find number of threads as your one, where people try to level of RAM using Rams Corsair and spoke of the same problems. Obviously the reason for non-working machine is compatibility issue with these RAM modules.

The 'value' Modules of RAM use many markets good chips using several banks/channels, which can cause problems of compatibility with some chipsets/CPUS.

I highly recommend to use high quality and 100% compatible modules of RAM from Toshiba or Kingston.

  • Upgrading RAM on Satellite L450D - 12 X

Hi guys I am new to this forum,

I'm having a problem with my laptop, I want to buy RAM for my computer but I don't know what to buy, can someone point me in a direction?
Apparently according to crucial holds my laptop DDR2 - PC6400 800 MHz ram, just ask yourself what brand to get it to work with the Samsung 1 f channel mode, someone annoys me?
I just want to buy a 1 GB of ram for this dual channel and it will recognize as soon as POSSIBLE please!

    Thank you

Your model of laptop can be upgraded up to 4 GB of RAM and I think that you need to upgrade to the maximum level. The performance will be all just great.

I put t know which modules and how much RAM is now inside but compatible RAM for your laptop have part number:
    1 GB DDR2-800-PA3668U-1M1G
    2 GB DDR2-800-PA3669U-1M2G
    4 GB OF DDR2-800-PA3670U-1M4G

I highly recommend to use Rams of high quality. In my opinion, Kingston is the best brand for the Rams. All don t buy some cheap no name product.

    Hello
    I have PSK1JE L650 - 10 H 00400GH2 with 4 GB 1066
    I want to update 8 GB 1333
    This module it supported?
dose the laptop has 2 springers to upgrade ram or more?

and one more thing, it is I can't find any data on this module in this site
When I try to auto detect the module of your software in my laptop it does not find

    Hello

You can update the RAM up to 8 GB, but as much as I know bus Frontal (FSB) is limited to 1066 Mhz

Even if you want to use the 1333 Mhz modules, the FSB would be clock speed to the 1066 Mhz is not worth to use 1333 Mhz as this seed would not be used.
