Uprading my HP PAVILION a6550in graphics card

I use HP Pavilion a6550in with Win7 64 bit Ultimate SP1 and 4 GB of DDR2 RAM.

I want to upgrade my graphics card Nvidia GeForce 9300 GE is too outdated.
Can you tell me what all Nvidia graphics cards are compatible with my system based on

(1) size (most graphics cards are too long for this cabinet)

(2) memory (I use ddr2 ram and I don't know if I can use gddr3 or higher graphics card with this system)

(3) the interface on the motherboard as it is only 1 PCI Express x 16 graphics card slot. So I have to replace my graphics card rather than adding to my system using sli interface between graphics cards.

(4) the PSU is 250W, so I'll have to replace it in order to support graphics cards consume more power.

(5) budget, cards well within Rs 10 000 /-without compromisg on performance.

I've selected Nvidia GeForce GT 240, but would be happy if there are maps better than this.

Thanking you in advance

  • HP Pavilion A6603W Graphics card upgrade help.

    Current graphics card:

    GeForce 7100 / nForce 630i (built-in to the motherboard as a chip)

    Power supply #: ATX-250-12Z-REV-D7R (250 Watts I think?)

    Computer model: (HP Pavilion A6603W)

Problem: Trying to figure out which is the best graphic card for upgrade with to keep up to date with current games, such as: battlefield, bad company 2, just cause 2, Amnesia: Dark descent.

Now in regards to food, I'm sure that ill have to level it as well. But I found quite reasonable online at the FRY's Electronics:

    http://www.frys.com/product/5503410

But in regards to the graphics card, I'm completely lost here that I out I can buy and not to buy. most of my games requires at least DirectX10 or more, which only takes my graphics card supported DirectX 9. I also saw that some graphics cards require power slots? I am completely new to this and I would like to have the support of users.

Oh and by the way, the minimum that I can spend is $ 250

    any suggestions?

Thank you for your time and your consideration.

Salko, to play the games you mentioned, you'll need a good mid-level video card.  I like XFX, BFG, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  The main thing to check is the length of the card.  The newer cards are 10 "or more may not correspond to the expected location.  With a power supply that is at least 500W, you assign choices.

The Antec PSU should be fine.  However, I love OCZ and Corsair PSU for a higher power clean and stable.  They are the two manufacturers PSU enthusiast/gamer.  Check Newegg for a PSU that assign customers (read) and is rated at least 4 eggs.  It is a good indicator of the quality of the product of those who use it.

    Hello

Basically, you can, with a cost, and I think that this cost can be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:

    • New price of the card, and WHERE you can buy it because the laptop cards are not the same office maps. You can't buy any normal store,
    • Need new card system (certainly),
    • Need new system of cooling because in general more powerful card pumps out more heat (you want more powerful card don't you?).
    • May need new power supply because your current diet is not suitbale for the card. (I ordered a machine with the Nvidia card and I need to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal charger 65W. They rejected just my order.)
    • Cost of the work.
    • Packages a lot, a lot of aspirin.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello:

There is no graphics "card" in your notebook.

The GPU is soldered to the motherboard.

Replacing the motherboard by a likely to have better graphics not only would be very labor intensive, it cost more to buy an equivalent model with better graphics.

  • HP pavilion m8100n: graphics cards

Hi there, you helped me a few weeks ago with my old office and your advice was helpful. It seems that my os I installed does not work with the nvidia graphics card in my machine insofar as there is no display whatsoever. After much research, I came to the conclusion that I need another brand of being well known for not being user-friendly linux nvidia card. Can you help me find a map generic compatible with this system? HP support no longer works with this model and when I try and buy video cards... well you probably understand this question.

Try an AMD\ ATI Radeon card or an older GeForce map. You need a card that has a legacy vBIOS. The vast majority of the current PCIe x 16 cards have EFI VBIOS.

Your best choice would be the second hand market, given the generation of your desktop PC is (year 2007).

A Radeon HD5750 would be a good choice.

  • identification for Pavilion dm4t graphics card

Hello, I need a little help on replacing the fan in my Dm4t.  I identified the replacement fan with the purchase, but the HP manual indicates that there are two choices of fan based on what graphics card I have.  a fan of the Intel HD Graphics 3000 card and another for the ATi Radeon HD7470 XT card.  How can I determine what graphics card I have in my machine?  Don't know where to look or how to tell.  Thank you.

    Hello:

Go to Device Manager and click to expand the category graphics cards.

You will see the name of the listed graphics cards.

If you have two listed (Intel + AMD 7470), then download the fan/radiator for notebooks with discrete graphics, no UMA cards listed.

If you have just the video card Intel that are listed there, then you get the fan/radiator for UMA graphics card.

  • Pavilion a6530f graphics card

    Hi all

Children are a couple of games that require a graphics card.  Don't want to increase the power of 300w.  Your opinion on:

    -EVGA nvidia 9500GT w / 1 GB GDDR2 memory - (says it requires 350W PSU - is this OK?)

    -PNY nvidia 9400 GT w / 1 GB GDDR2 memory

    -XFX nvidia 9500GT w / 1 GB memory GDDR2 (requirement of PSU 350W again)

    -VisionTek Radeon HD4650 w/1 GB GDDR2 (350W)

I saw old_geekster mention in other notes that manufacturers overstate required voltage, so I wonder if '350 is 300 '... All of these cards appear to be short enough to go in my box.  Also, when I install the card, Vista Premium recognize it and substitute the on-board graphics and reallocate memory regular system RAM?  Thanks for your help!

NBC, it's a fact that manufacturers overstate the power requirements of their video cards.  They do this to protect themselves against those who upgrade their computer beyond the norm.  The cards you listed should work very well.

When a stand-alone card is installed, the integrated graphics subsystem is disabled.  This will free up system memory.

  • HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC: updates Possible for my HP Pavilion 17 graphics card

    Hello

I am looking to update my graphics card. I was told to 'memory Express' local that they cannot provide because of limited vendors. I was directed to one myself hope that either the company HP procure, or find one on ebay.

I understand that laptops do not have much space internally, so I hope that there is some kind of graphics card that is designed to accommodate this?

I currently have 10 - 5745 M APU with Radeon HD Graphics. 2.10 GHz with 12 GB of RAM.

The games I play are MMORPG (such as Starcraft II) and run very slow/minced, even on low graphics.

I can puchase for this problem?

    Thank you!

A new laptop. Memory Express were obviously Bozo the Clown the Help Desk to work that day, or they had a good laugh at your expense. There is no crack to add a video card. It is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be removed or replaced. There is no such product in the form of video card in your laptop.

    Hello

I was wondering what kind of graphics card do I need to buy?... PCI or AGP and PCIe? I wonder if I can install a graphics card in my system? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

They do x 1 pci - x video cards, but they are only for the addition of another monitor... not good for games. You need a x 16 pci - x video card and you can not shoot for the moon. You probably have enough power or physical space to install a video card top online $ 500.
