  You can install the Windows updates manually by changing the settings of Windows updates.

  1. Open Windows Update in Control Panel by dragging it from the right edge of the screen, typeSearch (or, if you are using a mouse, pointing to the top right of the screen, move the pointer of the mouse down and then clickingSearch), get into Windows Update in the search box, by typing or clicking onsettings and then type or by clicking install optional updates.

  2. In the left pane, tap or click change settings.

  3. Under important updates, click the following option:

     Download updates but let me choose whether to install them.

  4. Under recommended updates, select the give me updates in the same way I receive important updates recommended , and then click OK.

  Manually install the Windows updates and find the problem causing the update.

  The usb scanner is recognized as an external memory card and the other usb port does not fuction.

  It would also be possible that the STRANGE laser lens is dirty. In this case, you might clean using a cotton ball and alcohol tip. In my case it helped.

  Did you use a compatible card? The laptop runs these cards:
  8MB - 2 GB SD card
  SDHC - 4 GB card
  -16 MB - 2 GB xD Picture card
  Memory Stick - 8MB - 256MB
  Memory Stick Pro - 256 MB - 2 GB
  MultiMediaCard - 8 MB - 1 GB
  miniSD (with SD adapter) - 32 MB - 2 GB

  I recommend also to format the card and to copy files from computer, and then test this.

The computer says there was an error on the disk, then windows Explorer froze and had to reboot.  Later I "fixed" error, after many gels, but still the usb wouldn't work.  I ended up formatting the disk.  Although a still takes a long time to open and recognize the usb, windows Explorer.  My mouse is very well (connected to a port targus 4usb thing), my printer is fine.  All my usb and hard drives refuse to connect to the computer.  USB device manager says they are all "unrecognized devices" yet less than a week ago that they were all works well without any problem.

  I've done the drive and it works fine but I don't have a PC provided with W8, so I can't test if the key in the BIOS works, but I guess that's.

  Also, I don't know if this download is for any language. It is lacking in English and perhaps it's just that it can be.

  Click Start-> right click 'Computer'-> manage-> click on 'Continue' on the prompt UAC-> in "Computer management" slot, click on "Disk management" "Storage". On the right pane, right click on your DVD drive and click on «Change drive letter and path...» "-> click on the button 'change... '. "under-> assign a new drive letter.

So, I go to the site of the farm and download the zip file. I am able to install sitebuilder by these means, but then it takes forever to load on vista and never find the internet connection.
