USB blocking Windows Explorer

Last program I ran and saved to USB has been Visual Studio 2008 C++ file.
USB is plugged on the WIN 7 machine later and maybe access a .bin file to sync the file for the BIOS during startup.
Win 7 does not recognize/see disk except for a split second then it is inserted or removed.
Win Vista seen once but crashed, because once it is inserted into the Vista machine it freezes pc until eliminated.
Computer works as usual once removed.
I tried chkdsk no with no luck, could not be accessed.
I tried Recuva, but windows crashes after inserting USB.
I was hoping to freeze some process that hangs while windows tries to read the disc
then extract the precious files and reformat the drive.
Suggestions, please help.
I looked at everything just format the drive, but I can't get Windows do not hang up and allow me to locate the record for formatting.

Hello apill9,

·         Have you tried to check if the drive works on another computer?

If you are not able to format the hard drive from another computer, it is possible that the drive could be bad.

Try connecting the USB on a different USB port and check the plant explorers again.

You can also try to format the drive in disk management.

1. open computer management by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-click computer management.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. in the Navigation pane, under storage, click Disk Management.

3. right click on the volume that you want to format and then click on format.

4. to format the volume with the default settings, in the dialog box format, click OK, and then click OK again.

Thank you

  • Windows Explorer stops working when USB drive is ejected

    Hi all

I'm having a problem with the windows Explorer. When you eject a USB device, windows Explorer stops working and must restart. It also stops working when trying to get the properties of the USB device. I watched "Event Viewer" and there is an error log that says this:

The failing application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7601.17567, time stamp: 0x4d672ee4
Name of the failed module: SHLWAPI.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7c9ab

    Report ID: 0d06c054-0346-11e2-ad84-00248c7a3b78

Now, I had this problem on my home computer and tried to replace the file SHLWAPI.dll with whom I had the internet, but it bugged my computer and had to re - install windows. Now, this computer works fine. I would get a solution to what keeps all my files and programs since to reinstall all my programs and backup my files on my computer to school will be a big hassle.

I thought it would be FAFSA is causing your problem.

Install Portable Firefox 3.6.x on your hard drive to a Web site. This will not affect any of your current Firefox installation.

I have this search browser "inbox" which blocked in windows Explorer. Any ideas on how to remove it?

    Hi Perry,

    1. What is the operating system installed on your computer recently?
    2. What do you mean by "I have this search browser"inbox"which blocked in windows Explorer?

If you think that your computer contains viruses, you can search for viruses using the Microsoft Safety Scanner, and then check if it helps.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • Windows Explorer hangs when copying large files on external USB drive

I'm trying to copy files over 1 GB of my pc to a WD MyBook external drive. After about 10% on the progress indicator, Windows Explorer crashes. When I cancel the work, nothing happens until I unplug the USB. Then I have the pc returns to normal.

During my research, I discovered that a lot of people have this problem. I have tried many suggestions, but without result. The last thing I tried was a full format the C: drive with a fresh install of Vista. Copy a large file gave me the message 'Calculating time' infinite. After you have installed SP1 reappeared the problem as explained above.

Some of the things I've tried:
check the external hard drive: no problem found and the problem occurs on all my MesLivres 3

    Superfetching disabled
    update the motherboard bios

Now my last request resource helps professionals. If I don't find a solution I'll have to go back to XP, achieve Win7 or one rating for Mac... a lot of things to think about.

  • Windows Explorer stops working whenever I have connect a USB flash drive and try to access

    Hello. I use Windows Vista.

I had a particular problem. Whenever I have plug in a USB key and try and access it, I get a pop saying "Windows Explorer has stopped working." the file is closed. If I wait a long time (i.e. 10 seconds), I might be able to get into the drive without any problems, but even when there is no guarantee. The problem persists in each USB slot I use. In addition, it is not that the computer is not able to detect it. It can detect and identify that it is a USB flash drive. It's just that whenever I try to access (or the folders inside the flash player), windows Explorer stops working and restarts.

Does anyone have this problem before? And any help is appreciated. Thank you.

The mistake made reference the MSVCR80.dll, which is a Microsoft file, but it may be another third party file, causing the problem.

    Hi FAH300,

If you are not able to format the drive, there may be a hardware problem.

I suggest formatting the disk using the instructions linked by wb2001.

Right-click accidents are caused by third-party shell extensions. To identify the culprit, you must use a utility like ShellExView and disable context menus not Microsoft managers one by one (or disable items in a batch) and observe.
