USB Flash Drive 16 GB Write Protected v210w

Hello!

After a week of use, my new USB Flash Drive 16 GB v210w key appears as write protected.

Cannot add a new file, delete the old file, same format any USB Flash drive.

I have tried various procedures described on the forums, as

  • My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePoliciesWriteProtect > data of the value set to 0
  • \devise\harddisk1\dr2

and the normal formatting (properties > Format) and the low level of implementation in the shape tools, as

but in vain.

That's happened? How to resume normally using my USB Flash drive?

I use a mini 311c on XP SP3.

Thank you for your help and best regards.

Hello!

Get help from hp support.

The technician suggested I make a test disc with http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.htmlformat.

He failed and prompted the 'Protected disc' message, so my USB Flash drive was considered dead.

I went back to my dealer and proceeded to an Exchange. The dealer was not surprised: according to him, large USB Flash Drives seems to be subject to this kind of malfunction.

I hope to be luckier with the new!

USB flash drive, identified as write protected, trying to create the boot USB back disk.

    Hi Mel,

Write protection is a feature found on many different types of media. When the write protection is turned on, you will be able to view the information on the disc or USB key, but you won't be able to write or transfer information to it. Write protection is an element of protection which prevents accidental deletion of important data.

To remove the write Protection, try these suggestions.

    Method 1:
I suggest you to follow the steps and check if the problem persists.

    a. open 'My computer'.

    b. right-click on the USB key and select 'Properties'.

    c. uncheck the 'read-only' if it is enabled.

Note: Click Yes when the option appears saying 'apply changes to subfolders and files writable in this folder '.

    d. click on 'apply' and 'Ok '.

    e. try to delete the files.

    Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest trying the steps and check if that helps.

    a. open the Start menu and in the search bar type regedit and press enter. The Registry Editor opens.

    b. navigate to the following location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: If the StorageDevicePolicies registry key does not exist, you must create it manually.
    c. highlight the Strategies of storage devicesand then create a new DWORD called (32-bit) as write protect.

    d. Double click on the key recording in the right window and set the value to 0 in the value data box , and then press the OK button.

    e. restart the computer and try formatting USB key.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • HP v210w - 32 gb USB Flash Drive Urgent help please :(

    Hello..

I have a HP v210w 32 Gb USB Flash Drive.

I was copying some stuff on it and all of a sudden it stoped working!
I tried to open it, but it is said that the partition is not accessible and the media is write protected!

I tried to format it, but it does not work! He said that the disk is write protected!

I thought it was damaged but when I opened the Disk Manager, he was there, healthy and active!

I tried using "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool", and it has detected, it failed to format

I also tried to use partitions such programs as 'MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional Edition' and 'EaseUS Partition Master' and they detect it as an active reader and healthy! and I can delete it's drive and recreate it, but nothing happens after the application of changes!

What is the problem with my Flash drive?
I have it only 8 months ago

is there a solution or hope to fix it and make it work again?

    Hello Meleha,

Try this to see if it helps.

    Reach
    http://www.PNY.com.tw/index.php?CLS=2&mode=download

This version corrects HP usb readers that have read-only problem (unable to write to the USB because it says as its read-only).

USB Flash Driver Format Tool (Ufix-II) is supposed to be the fix more successful by both programs.

You might need to 7 - Zip installed to extract the .rar file if Windows cannot open it.  It's a free program.

    http://www.7-zip.org/

You will extract the downloaded file "RecoverTool_V2.00.42_M1223 8CE.exe" and run.

  • What is the best method to add data to a file stored on a usb flash drive to avoid too many write cycles?

    Hello

I'm trying to store an important data on a cRIO sampled stream in the USB flash drive.

I believe that there are two ways to add data to a file:

    1. open the file outside of the loop, then write to the file loop, then close the file outside the loop.

Pros; More quickly and efficiently than the opening and closing of files in a loop is resource heavy equipment.

Disadvantages; If the program fails partially through, all data is lost.

    2. open the file, write to the file and close the file, all in the loop.

With the advantages and disadvantages as opposed to option 1.

As my cRIO is finally deployed in a hostile environment and data are valuable and processing speed is not an issue of concern in this project, I'm leaning towards option 2, but after a few basic calculations that I realize that I'll be writing/opening/closing the file of thousands of times and I wanted to know if this will wear out the flash memory?

My uncertainty is due to not understanding what happens when a file is opened written to and closed.  He writes the new data to new areas of the flash, or it write all data on top?  The latter would cause me problems not too long term!

    Any help gratefully received.

A big thank you and best regards,

    Ed

The 'magic' is not in the File Format (PDM vs vs binary text), but in the "life" of the file.  This solution creates a file of 24 hours and maintains a different file for each day.  If the USB "dies", you lose everything you have not backed up somewhere.  If the program dies (or errors), you lose the data for the current day.  You end up with multiple files (which can be a more or less), but we must still make the trade-off between (duration) of the file and the file number opens (which relates to your concern for the longevity of the USB).  By the way, I suspect that a good quality USB key (it's what you mean, right?  Or do you mean a hard drive USB powered?  Comments probably apply both) can predict today to not die on you, everything just because you make a lot of reads/writes (of course, you could get in-a-thousand...).

  • You are looking for a SIMPLE, EASY to USE, USB flash drive password protection

    Hello everyone,

I scoured the Internet looking for a SIMPLE, EASY to USE, method of Word to PASS-PROTECT my flash drives TOGETHER.  I don't mean something that protects just individual files & folders (such as MS Word, Excel & can do).  Or I'm looking for a program that involves having to read page after page of instructions on how to ENCRYPT the drive.  ENCRYPTION is a topic that is really beyond my ability to understand.  I'm sorry.

Programs like Truecrypt, Axcrypt, etc. are simply much too complicated for me to understand... a lot less!

My question: are there flash drives available (size 8-16 GB preferably) who have a means of securing the disk with a password?

The USB key remains in my USB port at ALL times!  I have no other computers here and live alone, so that no one else could access the flash player (or computer).  Otherwise, I would be willing to consider a VERY SIMPLE, EASY to UNDERSTAND AND USE application, either free or something that does not cost me dearly.  (I subsist on a limited monthly disability income).

Thank you for your time and any recommendations!

It seems that the solution for you would be to purchase a secure Flash drive.   Security is built-in and it asks for your password when you insert your disc into the computer.   Can't get much simpler than that.  They are a little more expensive, but you pay more for practical reasons.   See the following article:
    'USB Flash Drive Security '.
To find one, just Google for "Secure USB flash drive", there are a lot of them out there.

If you have a non-secure flash drive and do not want to replace, then your easiest option would be a program like Truecrypt which you already have reduced as being too complicated.  Don't let the word"encryption" you scared - it all comes down to "enter a password to access".»  Once established, however, it is almost as simple as only to enter a password so if you can find a computer or a local high school computer nerd literate member of the family who would volunteer to set up for you, then it wouldn't be that hard.

  • cRIO: build the path to write tdms file on a USB flash drive

I wrote the code in figure 1 below, for open & create a file tdms on my USB flash drive that is plugged into the USB cRIO.

The added path tdms is shown in figure 2 below.

But I get the error in figure 3 below. I wonder how I can solve this problem.

    Cashany,

Make sure that the USB is formatted in FAT32 as the cRIO cannot mount NTSF or other file systems.

In addition, and this is potentially very important:

There is a known memory leak problem that is easy to avoid the code with the help of PDM on the cRIO (without code changes!).

This problem only occurs on vxWORKS targets (e.g., cRIO-9014), not on the PharLap targets (as I know).

The problem occurs when you close a PDM file reference, the vxWORKS OS can't properly unload the PDM library. Next time you open a PDM, the library reference is loaded again, if for a very long time you will run out of memory.

    The solution is very simple:

on your cRIO, locate the file or - rt.ini, then scroll down to the section [LVRT] of the ini file and locate the key called "StartupDlls".

Make sure 'tdms.out' is included. For example, according to your cRIO, it may look like this:

    StartupDlls = nisysrpc.out; NiRioRpc.out; NiViSrvr.out;

In this case, you would change the line to look like this:

    StartupDlls = nisysrpc.out; NiRioRpc.out; NiViSrvr.out; TDMS.out;

This will prevent the LabVIEW runtime on the cRIO trying to unload the PDM library, forcing to be in memory of start up to eternity. This avoids the memory leak that you would otherwise experience.

    Good luck!

Have you tried to format your USB key, but instead to use NTFS you use FAT 32?

    Click on windows start orb
type cmd and do a right click and select run as administrator
    type diskpart
    disc type list
Select the drive that is your USB. For example, if your USB is no disc select 2 then type 2

  • How to use a blank disc DVD-R as a USB flash drive?

Hi all! I'm running Mac OS X 10.9.5 on my MacBook Pro and I was wondering how I could use a blank DVD-R disc as a form of rewriting for documents, music, spreadsheets, etc. ? My mac Let's burn me to the disc, but I can't rewrite to it after that. Help, please!

They don't work that way. Rewritable means simply you can erase the disc and use it again. You can't write it during normal use of the disk. This, to a USB flash drive.

To be same rewritable, you can use a DVD - RW, DVD - r not it is not rewritable. You can look for third-party software that allow you to use the drive as a flash drive, but I am not sure that these programs exist. Not much need for it.

  • Some USB flash drives REFUSE to work in this 40TL963B

Hi all. I recently bought a new 40TL963B and so far I have found nothing wrong with her.

Except that... when I listen to it all the Satellite channels, I noticed thay were very different from my FreeSat box. Duplicate the layers, randomly arrested... etc. It made me want to not use the built-in satellite feature.

However, I found a program called ToshibaEdit which allowed me to manually change all the digital channels on the TV. Grand... I though. Until I met this problem-->

Inorder to change the ads, you must copy the TV channels on a USB flash drive, you can edit them on your PC. Now, it took me AN HOUR to do, because of two flash readers I used, none of them worked... I kept getting a "Write Fail" error. WTF?

The disks are formatted in FAT32, one is a 8 GB is 2 GB.

Finally, I tried an external 2.5 "USB 120 GB hard drive. Even if the disc is defective... This WORKER. I expect flash drives to work, to be honest, but all of them... the external USB hard drive worked.

In any case, I spent another hour sort channels, until I was ready to transfer the data back. And. Yes... the same problem. This time, I received an error "failed to read". Again, tried the external USB HDD... worked the first time.

Now, this HARD drive is faulty, so he'll be thrown... so I'm going to need a flash player to do it again if something happens.

And then... can ANYONE tell me why on Earth two appropriate, fully working almost brand new USB flash drives REFUSE to work in this TV, but a former, fairly well defective USB external drive MADE? In addition, the same flash drive that I tried to copy the data from digital channel with was also used for a backup of the Firmware... and it WORKED perfectly. It works also for use with the media player.

While this TV has a hatred of Flash drives all of a sudden?
Anyone can shed some light on this?

In addition, very quickly, TV seems to lose its TV settings every time that I bring the TV out of Eve. I'm going to the TV Dynamic and adjust all the settings, but he returned to AutoView and all settings back to 0. Is it a fault or is there something I need to do to 'save' the settings per channel?

Any help at all will be appreciated greatly.

    Hello

    > And then... can ANYONE tell me why on Earth two appropriate, fully working almost brand new USB flash drives REFUSE to work in this TV, but a former, fairly well defective USB external drive MADE?

AFAIK the 40TL963B TV supports a common HS USB 2.0 interface and memory flash can be formatted in FAT16 or FAT32 file system. So there is no specific requirement for USB flash memory

  • Laptop HP 17 p100: how the usb flash drive big that I have to create a system of 10 Windows Recovery?

How the big usb flash drive do I need to create a system of 10 Windows Recovery?

    Yes

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

There is really no way accurately guess in advance, with one of the reasons being that the options are available when you do this.  An option creates a recovery drive minimum with what is needed to repair the operating system.  Another option creates an image that is able to completely restore the operating system and its partition.  Thus, the size can vary from 4 GB to the size of the partition to the OS.

Myself, I found as build-in recovery to be unreliable, especially those of Ms.  So instead, I use a third-party imaging/restoration solution known as Macrium Reflect.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

My experience is that SIR, when you use the option of Compression high, typically allows to compress the image file recorded at about 50% of the space USED in the OS partition.  This means that if you have a 40GB and 80GB OS partition is used, MR must only about 20 GB to store the image file.

I use all the time and it usually takes less than 10 minutes to make the backup of the image and at the same time or less do a restore.  In addition, MR has the ability to add a recovery Boot Menu entry.  This then allows you to boot into Windows re, and then you can use it to do a restore - when you cannot start Windows!

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Cruzer Force USB Flash drive.

I have a Force Cruzer 32 GB USB flash drive. I installed it in a mac mini ok and safe mode and regular mode works in the mini mac ok but when I put it in a laptop or a PC desk top it works in normal mode. The secure vault does not open even when you type the correct password. It is supposed to work in both PC and Apple Mac. I don't see much interest to have it if it isn't.

SanDisk don't seem to not know or even respond to my problem in a direct way.

    Thaks Alan Beasley

    Hi Alan,

Dear member of the community of SanDisk, welcome.

Don't forget that there are two software, for Windows and Mac.

    Compatibility:
Software SanDisk SecureAccess is supported by Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Mac OS 10.5 and more.

Use with a Mac requires to download other software.

And SanDisk SecureAccess software, you must install the USB key.

The latest version of SanDiskSecureAccessV2, you can download (for free) here:

    http://KB.SanDisk.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/2399
             http://KB.SanDisk.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/2413

1-     Download the USB flash drive, at SanDiskSecureAccessV2_win, (if you have a PC).

1 attention: If you are thus: SanDiskSecureAccessV2_win.exe, go Tools/Folder Options/tab/view/and check the box: Hide file extensions, moreover, you notice, which are also branded the choice: Hide protected files and do not show the hidden files and folders.

2-     Then, you install the program, password, etc.. And you will have two files:
    2.1-  SanDiskSecureAccessV2_win, (the application).
2.2-  SanDiskSecureAccess arch, (which is the folder that contains the encrypted files).
2.3-  If you lose or delete to SanDiskSecureAccessV2_win (2.1), there is no problem, as download others and ready.
2.4- But if you lose or delete a vault SanDiskSecureAccess (2.2), missed all of the content.
2.5-  If you change the name, the application (2.1).
2.6- Do not you can change the name, the folder/Vault (2.2), because the name is generated by the application (2.1), and if change you it, the app opens and will generate a new Vault.
2.7-  If you can move, too, demand (2.1), an entire folder.
2.8- You can not move the folder/Vault (2.2). you should leave it to the root of the USB drive, because that is where the course 'find' the application (2.1).

2.9-  There is an option (in the My Vault toolbar), which generates a backup (for SandiskSecureAccess Vault), on your PC.

Beware 2: Always make backup content, copy the vault, clone the USB flash drive, etc., then save everything in a "safe place."

    Enjoy!

    Sincerely, Alfred.                                                             (Google translation)

Unable to content on a USB flash drive, not getting not formatted. It is within the warranty period. How the guarantee?

Only if the drive was still usable and allowing for the write you to read the summary file but not. A read-only error.

You declare that you cannot access the drive at all, is - this correct? If so, I would get the replaced disk.

If you can read the content, not only to write and run this tool to fix this error.

    Reach
    http://www.PNY.com.tw/index.php?CLS=2&mode=download
Download USB Driver Flash Format Tool (Ufix-II).
You will need to have installed to extract the .rar of 7 - Zip. It is downloadable for free. http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
You will extract the downloaded file "RecoverTool_V2.00.42_M1223 8CE.exe" and run.

IF this is not what is wrong, then the drive is bad. Trying to force the reader to format isn't going to work. Replace it.

  • Restrictions on access to a USB flash drive

good day... I have problem with all the USB flash drive... before, I can see flash drives in my computer and browse its content but now Windows does not show it in workstation.  Windows can still recognize flash drives but it will show under devices instead of workstation.  However, when I tried to browse the content of the flash player, I received this message: "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.  Please contact your system administrator. "Because of this restriction, I can no longer navigate and access my files in my flash drive.  I check my user account and see that I am, log in as an administrator.

I tried the solution to uninstall and reinstall the USB controllers and editing the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\USBSTOR 'start = 3'), but nothing helped.  The problem is still there.  I can still access the files in my flash disk.  Moreover, my flash drives work perfectly well on other computers.
Please help... Thank you very much.

    Hi thafaceface,

    Welcome to the forum.

Before reinstalling Windows, I suggest you to check the system files are they work very well or not and to check who are trying to run the (SFC) System File Checker tool.

Scan SFC will be scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.
