For some reason, some usb ports do not work on my computer.  The model I have is a HP m9077c with the Windows Vista 32-bit operating system.  the m9077c model has usb ports, four in the back and two up front. The four in the back work well, but the two front won't work.  There are also three other usb ports on my monitor, HP w2408, but these do not work either.   If everything is OK and right drivers all USB ports should work. You cannot install the drivers for each port separately and force one of them to work properly. On this machine, all three ports are the same USB2.0 ports.

  Try reinstalling the chipset utility.
