USB ports not recognizing any device

I plugged into multiple items - iPod, iphone, USB keys.  Nothing is recognized.

Hi kslicho

1. What is the exact error message you get when you try to access devices?
2. for how long have you been faced with this problem?
3. have you made any recent changes on the computer?

Method 1:

You can even check if you get the error messages for the devices in the Device Manager. Please refer to the below steps.
a. open the Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
b b.. in Device Manager, look for the device and then right click on the name of the device and go to properties.
c. now on the general tab, check the status of the device. Let us know the status of the device. Also you can inform an error code with the State.

Method 2:

You can even check if uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers to connect the hard drive. You can disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

a. click Startand then click Control Panel.

b. click system and Maintenance, click Systemand then click on Device Manager.

Note If Control Panel is in Classic view, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

(c) in the Device Manager, double click on extend "Controllers of Bus USB", right click on the host
Controller, click "Uninstall" and then click on 'OK '.

d. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

I hope this helps.

    Hey Buddy,

You use the version preinstalled Windows from Toshiba or did you install your own version? I don't see any information about the BONES in your ad...
Theoretically, it could be a software problem so ports USB work correctly if they recognized in Device Manager

You should also try to update the Web from Toshiba site chipset driver. Maybe it helps.
Otherwise, I could imagine that the update of the BIOS can also operate and this update you can get on the Web from Toshiba site too.

  • USB ports not recognized anymore

I have Vista.  USB ports and ports that accept cards camera no longer recognize them.  Scanner can be moved from USB port to the USB port and works but "Explorer" does not show that they exist.  How to recognize camera cards (mainly) as they did before?  Windows offers device (camera card) has a problem, but this isn't the case.  Card works so executed through camera (USB cable to the USB port) in two different cases with two different cameras.  Also plugged on the USP port scanner is not recognized by the function 'Explorer' but actually works very well.

    Hello ghpots,

    ·         What happens when connect cards camera on USB ports, it installs the device drivers?

    ·         What are the changes that you made to your computer, since it has stopped working.

When you connect your devices to the USB ports, check the status of the device in the Device Manager. Check if you see a yellow fringe or exclamations in the Device Manager.

I suggest that you remove and then reinstall all USB controllers.

To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:

    1. click on start, type Device Manager and open the Device Manager.

2 right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click on uninstall to remove them one at a time.

    3. restart the computer and reinstall the USB controllers.

Plug in the removable USB storage device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

Check the Device Manager to see if the unit under section USB or other devices. To do this, follow the procedures below:

    Method 1:

    1. click on Start, right click computerand select Properties .

    2. click on Device Manager.

    3. click on the (+) sign next to Universal Serial Bus controllers and next to the peripheral plus other section.

Look for the USB device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers, or under the other devices section.

    4. If the unit is under Bus USB controllers or other devices, click on the reference to the 'unknown' device name, and then click Uninstall to remove the device.

    5. close Device Manager, and then restart the computer.

    6. If the USB device that has problems with software and it has not already been installed, install the software, now follow the planned manufacturer of the directives.

7 reconnect the USB device that had issues and test to see if it works.

The unit should now work correctly. Continue if the device name is not found in the Device Manager.

Method 2: There may be a problem with the USB port. Try connecting to a different USB port. If the USB device is displayed in Device Manager after plugging the cable in a different port, then uninstall and reinstall the software of USB device driver.

Method 3: Check the manufacturer of the device for support if the device is still unable to display.

  • Pavilion 17-g192dx: USB Ports not recognized

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion 17-g192dx that's installed with Windows 10 factory. I decided to give the new operating system a go, but was overall very satisfied with his overall performance and updates of buggy. Not wanting to give up the new machine, I decided to bring it back and oldie but a goodie - Windows 7. I got a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium lying around so I gave a go and installed the operating system. I got the internet running successfully and in no time most of my drivers have been installed. The problem that I face now is that the old BONES will not work with my USB ports. I do not use a hub and have almost exauhsted the drivers for this Web site section. If someone wants to kindly point out how I could go about fixing this issue, any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not as interested to get back to Windows 10. It is too slow for daily use (ma) and buggy.

    Thanks in advance!

    Go to Device Manager.
Remove all USB hubs and USB controllers in the list of devices.
Restart the computer and wait for Win has recognized and installed again all USB devices.
    Then test the USB feature.

  • USB is not recognized PNP devices

I have a HP Mini 110 runing XP SP3 and updates.

When I connect various USB devices as a generic USB, several thumb hub disc, an externel usb IDE drive, an HP USB keyboard and a usb mouse.

When I plug in I hear the chime that the device has been discovered.  I can find the device in the Device Manager in the 'other' file.

These devices, all work on another Windows XP desktop system.

So I wonder if somehow the PNP mapping is watered or generic device .inf files are missing.  It's just a wild guess.

Well, I found a solution of sorts.  I restored to a previous point restoure with%SystemRoot%\System32\Restore\Rstrui.exe.  This seems to cause problems with Norton Antivirus, but it solved the problem of USB.

If we do not know the real reason that wouldn't be not configure devices connected to the USB ports, but I have a solution.  At least until that everything that has been done in the last two months since the restore point I used happen again.

  • USB stick not recognized by Device Manager

I have a USB drive which worked in my Vista SP2 machine for 2 years until I took it.  I tried to run recently.  Even if the machine recognizes the connection and the removal of the disc with the bong audio, it does not appear in my computer, in the Manager device (like a USB Mass Storage Device - hidden or otherwise) or in the management of Computer Management(for doing fdisk/format functions) disk.   When I insert or remove the disc, the lists of USB in Device Manager do not seem to change.

I tried to delete infcache.1, but in vain.

The player with the same cables and the power supply, is recoqnized and works with other systems my Vista SP2 and SP3 of XP so I can exclude it as does not.

Dig dig into that.  The pilots were to be reloaded, I noticed there is a USB 2.0 mass storage device listed while Vista searched through the database driver.  As soon as it is loaded, the name was changed to Cypress AT2LP (chip Cypress is the controller of housing) and the drive has disappeared.  Did a search for this and it seems that it is a problem running under Vista (drive works forever and then one day things change after an update to Vista).  Rename the driver (CYUSB.sys) and then reboot didn't help.

I took the car to the most recent machine Vista and noted that the pilot has been there for a (USBSTOR Generic USB mass storage device. (SYS).  The drive works now.   Not sure where this storage of Cypress driver came (I certainly didn't not using it), but that was the problem.
