USB ports work very strange on my new Satellite L650D-100

Hello, toshiba loaptop users and professional!

Last week, I bought toshiba L650D-100 with windows 7, 64 bit. Everything is good, but the USB ports work strange:

USB mouse works ok at a port and does not to another. It is not in the windows Device Manager, but if I connect or disconnect the device, it sounds "ding".
With USB storage there is another problem: it appears in Device Manager and it is shown that drivers are ok and the device are working properly, but if I try to open it in Explorer, it crashes, green progress bar grows and stops at the end. This problem appears in the two ports.

If I reboot laptop with usb storage pluged, it can start to work correctly, but if I unplug and plug again the problem reappear.

Usb storage and usb mice work well on another computer. I've updated the bios, but it does not help.

Help, please. Maybe I should try to reinstall the chipset driver? If so, where could I get?

Hey,.

> This may somehow worry about supply management food or feeding issues?
In my opinion it has nothing to do with the power supply, or you may notice that the problem appears not on battery mode?

In my opinion, you should follow the instructsions posted by Akuma. Recovery facility will show you if it s a hardware or software problem. ;)

It would be interesting to know what laptop you have exactly and what operating system you are using.
Can you post this important information?

In your case, I will try to update the Web from Toshiba site chipset driver

But theoretically, if only a single USB port works, the other ports may be defective and therefore, it would be necessary to replace the motherboard. :(

    Hi Graham,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand from the description of the problem, the USB ports don't work on Windows 7 computer.

    Method 2

    Reinstall the USB controllers.

This method addresses the steps where the USB driver currently loaded became unstable or corrupted.

To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:

    (a) click Start, click run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.

    (b) click on the hardware tab.

    (c) click the Device Manager button.

    (d) expand Bus USB controllers.

    (e) right click on each device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.

    (f) restart the computer and reinstall the USB controllers.

    (g) connect the removable USB storage device and perform a test to ensure that the problem is solved.

I suggest you to contact the computer manufacturer and download the latest chipset drivers and check if it helps.

    Hello

Check the status of the device in Device Manager. Follow the steps for the same thing:

    a. click on start

    b. click Run, in the Run dialog box type devmgmt.msc

    c. in the Device Manager window, locate the USB key and expand the drive, double-click the sub element to check if an error message or error code is listed.

If there is no error message highlight Bus USB controllers and then click Action select check for material changes.

  • Peripheral storage but not with ethernet connection USB port work

I usually connect my Mac Book Pro with ethernet using the USB port. It was working fine, but since a few weeks, it has stopped working. But the normal usb storage devices only works very well in this port. So, I tried to connect the ethernet to another USB port near the seizure of power, which seems to work very well. So, that means that the other USB port does not work properly. How can I fix? I use Mac Book Pro with the Version OS X El Capitan 10.11.4

  • How to get USB ports work on Portege M400?

I'm not able to get the memory card flash, cameras and iPods recognized when plugged into the USB port of my M400.

I've updated all windows software and all the drivers that I can find.

When a device is plugged in the found new hardware dialog box sometimes - but of course a driver is never found.

I explored the forum extensively and tried to remove the USB driver in the hope that to restart the drivers would be reinstall correctly - they don't have - in fact the system doesn't seem to be able to find the USB driver at all and now I get a lot of error messages and unknown hardware tries to install.

I have a backup from 1 day - an image made using real image Neil - trying to restore what I ought to be able to boot from the CD ROM - this certainly does not happen with my current set up - how do I do - no doubt, I have to change something in the BIOS - how to access the BIOS - the manual is particularly short info here.

So how do the two fundamental problems - I get the USB ports to work - it is certainly a problem with the computer everything works fine when I try these devices on other computers.

And how the CD ROM is configured to boot from a bootable CD?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions - this has been a persistent problem that is starting to become quite frustrating.

    Hello

First of all this isn't a hardware problem, but simply the software problem.
I see that you have tried to install different external USB devices. Most of these devices require special software which is always supplied with the product.

I put t know what you have installed and removed from the system, but it looks like you've ruined the whole OS.
In this case I recommend installing the OS from the recovery CD.

To boot from the CD, you must insert the CD in the CD/DVD drive and press the F12 key immediately after switching on the laptop. This procedure should allow the start menu, from which you can choose the right boot device (ODD).

Notes; USB drivers are provided by the Windows operating system.

In addition if you want to use your iPod, you need to install iTunes software! Without this software, the iPod does not work!

    Good bye

  • Two of the three USB ports works only on Compaq CQ71 (Windows 7).

    Hi, I have a Compaq Presario CQ71.

There is a USB port on the left and two on the right. The one on the left works but the two on the right are not.  An "unrecognized" message when you use one of them, but not with each other, however there is power coming from him, as when I plug a mouse to infrared light is turned on.
Ive updated Chipset drivers and BIOS on Compaq website. I also made sure to do all the updates of Windows. Help, please! Its driving me crazy!

Did you meet a very old thread... but... I know that with some machines, you can actually disable some ports USB in the BIOS. Take a look here and see if there's anything out there.

They are ONLY two USB ports? If this isn't the case, you can well have a hardware failure that would require a repair to a place of authorized service center.

If they are the ONLY two...

Go to control panel > view large icon > Device Manager

Open the Universal Serial Bus Controller section

Right-click on the first occurrence of a controller, improved and select the UNINSTALL option and follow through with the process...

Restart the computer and let to re - install the USB controller...
