Use blackBerry Smartphones only 1 default contacts list

Hello

In short, my question is: "How can I force the Contacts application on my 9780 to load only 1 of my lists of contacts by default?"

Context:

I have 2 primary sources of contact information on my blackberry, my personal (gmail contacts) and my contacts from work (Google apps).  I like to keep these lists of contacts separate and apart from each other, but accessible if necessary.  However, this device is mainly for work, I would not have my personal contacts that appear every time I open the Contacts application.  The effect I'm trying to achieve is after the opening of the contacts--> click--> click on 'Select Contact list... '. "--> and chose a.  Is there a way to save this preference / by default, so I don't have to filter whenever I open my contacts list?

Thank you

clearly the wrong forum... I posted on the forum of blackberry device.

If your contacts are classified as business and personal, all you need to do is to open your address book > filter > choose personal or business.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones only restore BBM contacts - how?

    Hello

How can I restore ONLY my BBM contacts using the desktop software?  I looked through the choice of data but none like the right. I have a Torch 9800 and I use the latest office software. (6.0 bundle 1907)

I use my BB especially for work it is setup with connection of mail company so last week when I had problems they have wiped my BB and now my email and business contacts sync works well again but I lost all my BBM contacts.

In the restore office option, I use the "select parameters and device data" to select data to restore, but I cannot easily determine what type of data I should be restore so I didn't wipe my e-mail contacts existing or other parameters. Given that I had about 60 BBM contacts fields that show a counter that is close (and therefore looks promising) to the correct quantity are: Messages, folders, store of Trusted keys, stored key pocket, and recent contacts.

Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

See this KB for a list of all databases on the BB:

    • KB03974 List of all databases on the BlackBerry smartphone

The appropriate injector is there. It's a shame you didn't otherwise save your BBM contacts... BBM itself offers the possibility to make a backup of contacts... I've always found that more useful than the ability to backup/restore of desktop software.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones reset to default values

I would like to reset all the settings of 8900 for default values. How could I make it save my contacts?

    1. make a backup of your device using Desktop Manager > backup. This creates a backup file to restore this device later or another BlackBerry.

2 reset: read this article from RIM's Knowledge Base to reset your device to factory settings.

If you get rid of the unit completely (which is a not state you), do a wipe > Options > Security > General settings > Menu key > wipe Handheld.

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not move contacts from 9000 to 9800

My old BB 9000, or more likely, DM 6.0 organize my contacts on my old phone hostage!

I had my 9800 yesterday and tried to run the Wizard "device." Everything looks good, no errors, everything works... then I have open Contacts and it is empty. Look at my old camera, everything is still there. Try the synchronization again and again, no luck. Trying to back up "All contacts" on 9000 then just that give back to 9800, does not work.

I think the problem is that on the 9000, I see three "lists of contacts" - two named Desktop and the other with my gmail address. It appears in fact as those associated with the gmail address move okay - except that only one contact is associated with this account! The rest seems to be distributed randomly among the other two inputs of funds.

I have tried everything I can think to manually backup/recover contacts from the old phone, but no matter how I try to sync, I don't the addresses associated with the gmail account or when I restore what seems to be a 'complete' backup all contacts disappear.

A side note, I didn't want/need to keep these contacts separate so if there is a way to merge together to solve as magically I will gladly do - unfortunately entered KB talking about this all reference ridiculously old versions of the software, so I don't know how to do with DM6 and the 9800.

It's ridiculously frustrating. Permutation of devices was such a breeze and a grand more for me in the past, who would have thought that RIM would make it more difficult/worse?

Let me know if I can give you more info!

Well, 3 days it took me to solve this problem, quite poor of general RIM experience - I hope that someone is watching. Here is the solution I found, based on the process here: http://www.berryreview.com/2010/06/03/faq-duplicate-desktop-or-unknown-contact-list-databases-found-...

Original problem - several book entries of "Desktop" addresses on my old phone, which apparently caused problems when you use the DM6 ' device' Wizard.

    Resolution:

    (1) of peripheral origin, take a backup and select only contacts 'Address Book - All.

    (2) Download ABC Amber Blackberry Editor (why I need a 3rd party tool to use my new phone!) as mentioned in the article.

    (3) open the .ipd file that contains the address book - all entries, do a save as and put them in a new file - they are now simply part of the primary address book.

    (4) this is where I spread article above - still, restore that backup on my new phone doesn't work but restore on my OLD phone actually. If that's what I did.

    (5) I reactivated my old phone on BES then used wireless sync to synchronize the address book to the server.

    (6) to the new phone, activate on BES and turn on the wireless sync, and voila, I have my address on my new phone... FINALLY.

The obvious answer here is ' well, if you had the wireless sync works properly in the first place that probably would have been avoided "which is quite true. However, as it is a personal device that I use to work for e-mail only, the camera itself has always been the source of my address information and it sync to my business account has been low on my priority list. I thought that saw DM configured to make weekly backups (which still occur whenever I plug in my phone, regardless of whether or not - a week spent yet another problem with shit DM6) would be sufficient coverage of the information available to me.

I hope someone finds this useful info and should not suffer through 3 days of hair pulling as I did.

  • HELP blackBerry Smartphones... transfer contacts

Blackberry style 9670 phone. has just been cut. no power nothing. I got a replacement phone. How to transfer my contacts because the phone is dead. Incidentally, I have blackbery protect on the dead phone. How to recover information. phone is dead... Please HELP

Hello and welcome to the community!

If the old BB is really dead, then it is not available as a source for restoring your data to your new device. Instead, you must use another source, one that you created before the old BB died.

If you made a backup of office, you can use the backup as a restore source file:

    • KB10339 How to use BlackBerry Desktop Software to restore data from a BlackBerry smartphone from a backup file

If you were synchronizing with a Desktop Organizer (for example, Outlook), then you can use that as source for restore reconfiguring the RIM Desktop software now work with your new BB:

    • KB03315 How set up the synchronisation of data using BlackBerry Desktop Software organizer

As you use BB Protect, is also an available food source:

    • KB25063 How to use BlackBerry Protect to restore data on a BlackBerry smartphone

You must be sure to connect to, on the new BB, the same BB ID that you used on the old BB. If you have already created a new ID BB on this new BB, then you go to your old ID BB:

    • KB26694 How to change the BlackBerry ID on a BlackBerry smartphone or BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet

This will allow even you to migrate other things that were on your old BB - for example, documents of purchase/download AppWorld.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones where are my contacts saved on my computer?

I backed up my bb storm 9500 to my computer using the bb Desktop Manager. I now need access to my contacts list on my computer that my phone is broken and far to repair. I have no other way to get some contacts but can't seem to find where, on my computer, he decided to store them so that I can view.

    Help, please

    Thank you

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

Your backup files are stored in a *.ipd file extension, often in your 'My Documents' folder.

So, look over there, or search the entire of your PC for *.ipd and you should find it.

Now, the IPD file is not usable by any other program except the BlackBerry.

If you want to use the data in this file, you will need an application named ABC Amber IPD Converter to extract the address book, etc., for use.

When you get your BlackBerry back, you can use the IPD file to restore your data to the new device.

  • MSN blackBerry Smartphones and related BB contacts

OK so I got my new phone yaaaaa... a VERY annoying problem.

It is for a reason any automatically linking my msn contacts to my Blackberry Contacts. I deleted MSN on my phone, but they remain linked in some way. I found this out by deleted contacts automatically downloaded on my phone (through my msn, apparently) and they got deleted and blocked in MSN.

How can I loosen them? I really don't want to have a few hundreds of contacts on my phone as most of the people I don't know on a regular basis and it is only through facebook, msn or email.

I'm on the Bell network. Love the torch... have not found that I have only one problem with it, but apart from that... but this problem is making me want to throw it across the room!

OK so I thought I'd give it... Finally.

    Go to Contacts

Press the BB button and select Options

Under contact lists should be your email address, click it.

    Turn off wireless sync

    Hope this helps someone else
