Use FTP fails, disconnect remote desktop, XP Pro

Windows XP Professional SP3, Application in VB6 using WinInet FTP, remote access from Windows 7 to XP pro.

I had problems with one of my VB tasks.  It has worked fine for years and now is a failure because it downloads only the partial files FTP.

It seems to have started failing after May 22, 2012.

A symptom that I can reproduce, is that when the FTP task attempts to run he hit me offline my Office remotely.  Sometimes the FTP download works, sometimes files are truncated.

I use software that requires 4 GB minimum core duo. Spend a lot of time on airplanes and the laptop is too big for use. I have a new laptop that has only 2.6 ghz. I would like to direct connection via USB to the port USB or HDMI from laptop to laptop and use the laptop in remote desktop to control the laptop on the floor under my feet. The laptop has only due to the plane, not a good idea to Ethernet and wireless. Is this possible? How?

Solution: create j5 is a cable called wormhole JUC700 DSS switch. Comes with a CD that invites you to install the software online. You need to install on two computers and reboot. USB/USB cable and is very simple to use. Can switch form a computer to, drag-and - drop, use remote desktop, etc.. Very well. Bought at best buy for ~ $45.

  • Keeps disconnecting remote desktop

I use remote desktop to 'exploit' my laptop from my desk, when I'm at home.  When I had Windows XP, it worked flawlessly.  Now that I am on Windows 7 Professional (laptop and desktop) is true.

When I run the desktop connection remote desktop it conscientiously connects to the laptop.  I will then use the DRC to work on my laptop.  I use the DRC in full screen.  I can (and often do) go to work on my laptop via RDC on my desk (check personal emails, etc.), and then return to the DRC (and laptop).

Periodically, the DRC becomes inadmissible.  I can move the cursor, but I can't select or click on anything whatsoever.  If I move out of DRC and then again, I get a black screen followed a message box that says that the DRC has lost the connection and attempt to reconnect (1 of 20 tests).  Still, he reconnects on the first try.

Some days it will happen one or two times, but today it happened about 5 times in 2.5 hours.  The disconnection may happen when I use Outlook, Excel, Word, Internet Explorer - in other words, I don't see a pattern when that happens, he is simply.

I searched the forums for that, and while others seem to have this problem, no one has a solution that worked for me.  Some responses suggest firewall problems, but because most of the time I can connect and use it, I'm not sure that the firewall is the problem.  In any case, the two computers using the standard Windows Firewall and are on the same network behind the same router.  Both allow the DRC in the firewall.

Under XP I never had this kind of 'random' disconnects.  In Windows 7, I get throughout the day (with enjambements more some days than others).

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

The wireless signal goes directly to another machine, or obtain other machines via a wireless router?

    Have you seen this?

" When I reduce the desktop connection dialog box remote, my screen becomes white. .

Using a password protected screen saver can cause this. Not to reduce Remote Desktop Connection dialog box if you have a screen saver password protected, or not to use a screen saver password protected. »

http://www.TAPR.org/pr_intro.html is the best place to look for information.  If you are a packet radio operator you must already be aware of this web site.

As the bandwidth for packet radio networks is limit to about 9600 bps (the modem speed), I suspect THAT DRC on this type of link would be very slow.

  • Cannot disconnect remote desktop background user

Running 3.8 remote desktop. My clients usually run 3.8.5, and all have an Admin account I can connect without disturbing the user.

Host computer running OS X 10.11.4, clients are on a variety of versions of the OS.

Recently, I started getting the following message when you try to log on to this account Admin:

The account that you selected is not available.

Check your network connection and try again to the user account. If you are connected to the network, ask your administrator to help system.

If you click on the OK button, which is the only button available, you are listed on the desktop of the admin account. This leaves you stuck in the Admin account. I don't like it in abeyance.

Has anyone seen this error before?

It seems to be a new problem with the 3.8.5 update. Returning to 3.8.4 on the target mac resets the connection.

I have improved the work of home to Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit in order to have multi-monitor support in Remote Desktop without using the extended option (which does not work for me, as my screen resolutions are not well enough to be usable).

However, even though I have the session put in place with the ' display > use all of my monitors for the remote session "check on the client, I can get to use a monitor.

According to the FAQ from Microsoft on Win7 Remote Desktop (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Remote-Desktop-Connection-frequently-asked-questions), it should work. Question 5 is ' there are several support monitor for remote desktop connection in this version of Windows? (The header at the top said "Applies to all editions of Windows 7," and there is no separate FAQ for each version, I can say). The answer is Yes, followed by instructions on how to set up.

So, how to do this work?

    Windows 8.1 with Bing

May 23, 2014, Microsoft announced that it would begin to offer a slightly modified version of Windows 8.1, titled "Windows 8.1 with Bing," manufacturers to OEMs for use in some computers of economy. [52] this edition is similar to a monolingual basic edition 8.1 Windows with 1 installed update available at strongly reduced or free prices to OEM. [53] in return, OEMS are expressly forbidden to change the default search engine, which is Bing. End users cannot install other browsers,[52] or search engines, but cannot use BitLocker, host a remote desktop connection or join a domain. Note:

You can use devices and resources located on or part of my computer like my printer, hard disk or Clipboard, while I'm connected to a remote computer. Check the settings of the device.

  • Remote Desktop works Win 7, but local printer receives a RPC error

I have several laptops with Windows 7, which connects to 2 computers, using Windows 7 via Remote Desktop. Except for 1 computer, all the Remote Desktop connections work fine.

A laptop will connect with Remote Desktop very well and allow the user all privileges, except printing on the client computer. The printer is shared in the same way for other laptops, the printer appears as an option and is selected, BUT when a print job is requested, this laptop computer receives a CPP print server error message.

I also tried to disable the firewall on this laptop and continue to receive a the same printer error, so I don't think that it is a firewall issue. I also replaced it with one of the other phones using the same material and the printer works fine. One last note, I checked that the dirvers impression is correct on the laptop problem. When you are working on the local client computer, the printer works fine, the printing problem occurs only with a remote desktop connection.

    Thank you

can I connect to a windows 7 pro is a windows xp pro?

Yes you can, please try the following:

1 right-click 'Computer' and select 'Properties' (or open 'Control panel' and select 'System')

    2. click on "Remote settings" in the upper left corner of the window
    3. on the "Remote" tab, select "allow connections to this computer remotely.

    4. make sure that you uncheck "Allow only the connection of computers running Office remotely with level (recommended) network authentication" as I'm sure that XP does not support this.

    I hope this helps.

Please let me know how you go with this
