Use the ethernet port to connect a pc

Hello

I intend to use my raspberry pi to do some projects, but is not close to the router (needs thought Ethernet connection - and before anyone asks I'm not able to use a wifi dongle to connect because of the requirements of the project size wise), but near my officejet 6700, can I use the Ethernet port on the printer to connect my raspberry pi to the network from that the printer is connected. I have to play with settings?

Can anyone help

Thanks in advance

Martin

No you can not use the Ethernet port on the printer.  It is only to connect the printer to a wired network.

  • Can workstation make me use the ethernet port on the remote computer?

    Ideal solution would be:

I have specialized software on my computer I want to use without installing it on the remote computer.

For now, I have to because the software uses the ethernet computer port to do a job, the software is used to.

    (1) is there a solution out there for everything just to connect to a remote computer and make use of its ethernet port remotely?

Someone told me that VMWare Workstation last night. Maybe it's completely off-base.

If this remote computer is connected to another computer via an Ethernet cable, but not for the internet, only data.

For me to be able to connect to it, the remote computer must maintain a simultaneous Wifi connection as well.

I use Teamviewer to fight against it.

    (2) if 1) above is not possible, I'm back to my current setup which is to the software me, I need on that remote computer. But my problem is that it does not seem possible to have WiFi and Ethernet connections at the same time.

Please correct me / explain how if I'm wrong.

How can be useful to me in these scenarios Workstation?

Thanks in advance for your help. I'm looking everywhere for more than a week.

I read that you wrote in your OP several times and no offense not expected however it is not well presented and I find I have to ask the many requests for clarification, however, I will say this...  A Virtual Machine is presented only a wired Ethernet adapter no matter how the host connects to the LAN/WAN and if you need to wired Ethernet and WiFi Ethernet in the Virtual Machine, and then in addition to the default wired Ethernet you can also provide your own card Ethernet Wi - Fi USB to connect to the virtual machine as well as the two available to the virtual machine at the same time.

Others while I won't waste time asking a bunch of questions and if you want to take an another stab as describing in explicit and specific in detail what you have and are trying to accomplish, then I add more to the discussion.

  • Using the Ethernet Port on a remote Express

I have just moved into a new House and has Verizon FiOS installed.  Verizon provided a router modem combination like my main wireless service.

I have an IP phone that I need to use in my office located in another room and the Verizon tech said that it would be very expensive to run a separate line in this room.

I have a generation current Airport Express.  I would like to use the Express to join/expand the wireless network in the office, but my question is, the LAN on the Express port will be active so that I can connect the IP phone to the LAN port and use the phone via wireless Express?

If possible, can you give us some guidance on how to configure the Express?

    Thank you

    David

I would use the Express to join the network wireless Office

The AirPort Express, expected to be able to 'join' the wireless network that is provided by the modem/FIOS router, assuming that the device uses wireless standard... parameters and... He Express is located where it can receive a strong signal of the FIOS router/modem wireless.

But, the Express can not "extend" or "repetition" of the FIOS wireless network, given that "expand" function requires the Express receive a wireless signal from another Apple wireless router.

.. .my question is, the LAN on the Express port will be active so that I can connect the IP phone to the LAN port and use the phone via wireless Express?

Yes.  In fact, you can use the LAN or WAN port, or both at the same time... because both ports behave as LAN ports when the AirPort Express "joins" a wireless network.

can you give us some guidance on how to configure the Express?

What camera... Mac, PC, iPhone / iPad... will you use for this?  What operating system is that it uses?

  • Using the second ethernet port to connect to the printer?

Hi I have a Mac Pro 2.1 old school and I'm wondering if I can connect to the network with an ethernet port and connect the latter to a printer?

    If so, how?

    Yosemite running.

    Thank you

Physically, you use a port and a cable to connect to your network and use the second port and a second cable to connect directly to the printer. The printer must obviously have an interface Ethernet himself.

However, you need to configure the second port on the Mac and the Ethernet port on the printer for each manually configured the TCP/IP addresses and these should be in a range of different network to your main network.

If you the main network is something like 192.168.1.1 then your printer and the port on the Mac connection to this need to be in another network, such as 192.168.11.1.

In theory, if the printer supports Hello aka. mDNS, then maybe you can get away with not having to configure TCP/IP addresses for the connection.

The main reasons to use a second separate connection as this would be the performance or security, and frankly I don't think that's really relevant here. This would mean that no other computers on your network will be able to access the printer.

  • How is it that a computer which works very well with a direct Ethernet connection won't work with a switch, however any other computer using the same port, cable, ect, and so on, can?

    Switch issues. Help, please.

How is it that a computer which works very well with a direct Ethernet connection won't work with a switch, however any other computer using the same port, cable, ect, and so on, can? We already checked the firewall as a question, that it was not, and now, we are puzzled.

Well, I know that the issue is long-term... believe me, it's a long, but as they say, the devil is in the details. Anywho, the question is, my grandfather has a HP laptop, which for two years has been able to run through a Linksys switch to his router and connect its printers to his laptop. About two months ago it suddenly doesn't work like that. Now, it works fine if it plugs directly into the router/Ethernet. My uncle suggested that the switch was bad, but after testing the same port, cable and all, the switch worked well for him. ' GRAMPS really needs this answered, but someone else, it is called can not understand and now I, in turn, ask you all for what you can offer. Here are the ideas that we have already discredited.

-Switch bad: as above, is that this particular laptop, even under identical conditions, the works of my uncle very well.
-Bad NIC: debunked through the fact we connected to the computer directly to the router and it worked fine.
-Bad configuration of the firewall: we have disabled the firewall (please do not notice, he wasn't the smartest idea, we already know) and even if she recorded the switch exists, the internet is always triggered when you are connected with the switch.

Thanks in advance for any assistance that you can provide and Merry Christmas to you all.

It would be useful to consult the results of the ipconfig/all command both when it is connected to the switch and when it is connected directly to the router.  In addition, what is the model of the switch?

To save the manual copy and the new hits of the ipconfig/all command output-

    First connect through switch.
Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following lines in the black command prompt window and press ENTER after each line

echo "Connected via the button" > "% UserProfile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt".
    ipconfig/all > "% UserProfile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt".

Now connect directly to the router, type the following lines in the command prompt window and press ENTER after each line

echo "Connected to the router" > "% UserProfile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt".
    ipconfig/all > "% UserProfile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt".
    Notepad '% UserProfile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt '.
    output

Copy the contents of the Notepad window in your response (if you use the laptop when it is connected directly to the router) or close the Notepad window, and then copy ipinfo.txt of the laptop to the Gramps in a USB FlashDrive you can connect to any computer allows you to answer.

You can delete ipinfo.txt on the desktop when you are finished.

  • Can I use the SATA port connected to an optical drive to plug in a hard drive?

I have a Pavilion e9270t desktop, Win7 Pro SP1, and I want to connect 3 HARD drive to the motherboard. Can I do this? Can I use the SATA port connected to an optical drive to plug in a hard drive?

    Thanks, CHemming

    CHemming,

I've not seen UEIF support in the existing BIOS.

If your demand on a 3T led, re - consider a maximum of 2 T.

If you ask to have 3 hard disks, then you can do it without harassing the present cable of CD.

The cage of your system hard disk will support 3 hard disks. Manual upgrade service

All you need are the SATA data and power cables. Your Board has 4 SATA data ports.

When you report back after inspecting your system for SATA power cables, I will move the cables and adapters, if necessary.

  • How to configure the Ethernet Apple TV connection

With the new Apple TV Remote app how configure you a 3rd Gen Apple TV which is connected by ethernet? It seems that the Apple TV Remote app requires the Apple TV to be connected via WiFi.

the ethernet port is located on the back

your router must enable DHCP, if you are having problems with the wired connection, you can reset the router to the default settings. See the page of Web developers for information on this.

the remote control does not connect over wi - fi, so it does not matter if the device is on a network, or not the remote control is concerned.

Apple TV (3rd generation) - technical specifications

If you can't fix this, go to settings, forget the current network of wi - fi and restart the device

    Settings > general > network > Wi - Fi

    Settings > general > restart

If you are unable to connect with a wired connection, check the cable connection and verify that the cable works.

  • Using the Serial Port on the HP 50 g graphic calculator

    Hello world

I have another question. I want to use the Serial Port on the HP 50 g to connect with another device. The device is called the MFJ-1214PC. What it does is to accept the text and commands through a 9-pin serial Port and converts the text in a Code Morse/RTTY sound audible. It also decodes Audible the Morse Code and RTTY radio signals and displays them as text on your computer. The program that controls the MFJ-1214PC was originally written for an IBM PC for the MS-DOS operating system. The HP 50 g graphic calculator meets the system requirements for the simplest version of the program. I was wondering if there is an MS-DOS emulator written for the HP 50 g, which would allow the HP 50 g to become the computer in this case, or if the program could be rewritten and brought to the HP 50 g. If it could be rewritten, programming language what do you think would be better suited to this type of application (if it is even possible?) or UserRPL, SystemRPL or Assembly. Don't forget that I'm a complete newbie with the HP50g and have never programmed with it yet. I'll include the manual of the MFJ-1214 PC as an attachment so that you won't have to look for him. Thank you in advance for your help!

    ~ Zekelegge ~.

I understand (from my brief overview) out of the box-MFJ-1214PC, this offer box decoder output series computer.  The computer (50g in your case) will have the software to read message series and then convert that to an output for display.

BartDb gave you the right answer.

A serial cable with the correct speed level and reversing lever to manage as well as the 50G has a RS-232 signal to the outside world is the ideal solution.

However, make sure that the output of the decoder box series package can be understood by the 50 g. aud, bits, etc.   (you have the set-top box manual, so you'll have to look that up)

the streamsmart is not an aggregator of serial port.

in other words, these connectors DIN of Qty 4 on the front do not accept series rs-232 input and send then to 50 G.

I'm not an expert, streamsmart more info on these boxes is rare to find.  The probes are even more rare.

However, I know that the 4 connectors are for the analog-to-digital conversion in the probes.  The streamsmart works as a "data logger" in which he sees the input probe, the A/D converted, then sends it to the 50G (or a computer via the USB port).

In addition to the solution of Bart, there was another named Tiwag forum poster who created a serial cable and displayed a schematic representation of the cable.  This information can be found here:

    https://groups.Google.com/Forum/?fromgroups#! searchIn/comp.sys.HP48/serial$20port/comp.sys.HP48/ltcane1jSOw/uHyw2Ti03kgJ

to see an example of programming to use the serial port of 50G, you can reference the following hpcalc GPS data collection program.

    http://www.HPCalc.org/details.php?id=7105

It is written in userrpl so can be crossed with the reference of users advanced for the translation of the syntax.

It seems that the main routine of concern for the comm to the gps is in the file "GPS >.

  • The bridge network to the ethernet ports

I have an Airport Extreme base station for my wireless at home. The problem I have is that the base station is not near a few features, that I need to hard wire. I read that you can set up a network bridge and if I understand correctly, this concept, it's like setting up of another wireless device, but this second device provides you with the required Ethernet ports for connectivity. Is it possible to do with the Airport Express secondary device?

Most of the other posts that I read said to extend the wireless range, but the range of my base station is not the issue. I just need a couple on the way ports. I've heard this can slow down the entire network however. Is this feasible? All known reserves? Advice is appreciated.

Is it possible to do with the Airport Express secondary device?

    Yes

Most of the other posts that I read said to extend the wireless range, but the range of my base station is not the issue. I just need a couple on the way ports. I've heard this can slow down the entire network but

It all depends on if you configure the AirPort Express to "extend" the network... which will lower the maximum speed potential of the network by all 40-50%...or...whether that you set up the base AirPort Express for simply to 'join' the network... which causes a decrease in the speed of the network... but it will provide 2-port Ethernet for wired devices.

If you need more than 2 ports Ethernet on the Express, you can add an Ethernet 5 port, 8-port switch, etc., to create as many ports as you need.

Don't know what kind of speed you need for the Ethernet ports, but they are limited to 100 Mbps, then that would be the maximum speed available ports Ethernet on the Express.
