User account control

I have Windows Vista. I try to keep my teenager out of certain areas of the web site. I change his account settings and it works. However, whenever I leave my connected account he slips on it and changes the settings.  When I click on edit settings, a CONTROL of called USER ACCOUNT prompt comes up saying "your authorization is required to continue.  But all you have to do is click on continue and it moves...  I need this prompt to be password protected, but I can not understand how to change it. There are times that I must leave my account upward, while the programs are running. This is when it changes things so that I don't have.  I realize that since I'm already logged as administrator he does not ask for the passwork again...  No there is no way to change this? If this isn't the case, I hope it's ridiculous.

If you haven't already done so, create a password for your user account.  Before leaving the computer, press the Windows key + L which locks the computer so that your password is required to unlock.  Your programs will continue to operate.

While it is locked, your son can use his account by clicking change user .

  • Why User Account Control allow me on IE without permission after resetting IE

A few days ago I couldn't get on the Internet because IE would not work and internet connection was ok so out of desperation I did a reset of the EI. It still does not work then a member of the family came and got it works, but now I get the popup to permission to the user account control every time that I log on the desktop by clicking the shortcut of IE.  I went into the folder security and disabled UAC and now I only get this popup whenever I click on the desktop IE. This never used popup lights up when clicking on the shortcut of IE, so something must have happened when I did the reset Internet Explorer.  Does anyone know how to keep control of user account for all but IE?

I have a feeling that I accidentally changed a setting on IE and probably should not have an IE reset.but now the problem is that I like to keep the popup of User Account Control permission for everyone, but the IE shortcut on my desktop.

Furthermore, family member right clicking on the desktop for IE shortcut and did something with run as administrator to get IE working again.

My nephew looked at the problem that I had some time ago, but I told him to forget it because he really didn't have time to work on it. I just kept off UAC all these months and had no problems I do not download anything that I'm not sure. However, a few days ago I went back to this problem. I tried checking with the Compatibility tab, and as said above "Run as Administrator" was unchecked. This time I went to the contextual on properties of Internet Explorer and click on Advanced tab. Then I unchecked the run as Administrator box and I went back and UAC enabled and everything works well. Without UAC popups more!  I also did this for the exchange of information in the start menu and on the Quick Launch bar. For some reason any one on the keyboard had worked this time (he had not earlier) without a popup UAC even before I made the changes.  This is exactly what made me do some exploring more to see if I could get the other IE shortcuts to work.

I believe that another Member of my family who had helped me to get IE to work when I had problems to make on the internet even after a reset IE active the option "Run as Administrator". He has not been bothered by the popup and said if I was annoyed by it just turn off like he said I had a very good program antivirus (Norton) installed on my computer and it always warns you if a program you want to install is safe or not safe.

Hope this might help someone else who may have this problem.

    Hi JosephDoherty,

UAC (User Account Control) notifies you when changes will be made to your computer that require administrator-level permissions.

You can try to change UAC settings and see if it helps.

Note: You must restart your computer when you enable or disable UAC. Change levels of notification does not require that you restart your computer.

Important: Turn on UAC after you complete the steps.

  • Why do some executable programs require Windows Vista user account control to start, while others do not?

For example, Iobit Advanced System Care 6 requires user account control to start, while none of the programs Microsoft Office requires user account control to start, but they are all executables (*.exe).  Why?

EXE files may have a small text file embedded in them that controls this behavior (and other). A file called programname.manifest in the same folder can do it too, but one stand-alone exe substitute manifests (vista and later).

Here is one that requires the Admin run and also uses 6 worm of the common controls.
