User profiles Vista-move on a hard disc nine
My hard drive of the laptop became unbootable plu, Dell sent me a replacement with a new image of WinVista on this unit. Is there a way to move user accounts from the old drive to the new? I temporarily connected disk via a SATA-USB adapter and it looks like two disks (OS and recovery).
Copy the files from the user account from their location on the old drive (OS) at the location corresponding to the new disk. By default, Windows Vista stores user account files in this folder:

Transfer of license of Windows Vista on a hard disc nine
Hi all, I have a laptop HP that came with Windows Vista pre-installed. The hard drive failed (confirmed by running diagnostic BIOS) and I buy a new one today. My question is, how do I get my installation of Windows and the license on the new hard drive? My laptop came not with all drives I know (probably because it has a recovery partition).
In addition, the sticker on the base of the PC has faded with time, and I can't do the license number. Can it be retrieved by MS?
Thank you
Matt Harris
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
Normally, you don't have the product key with the manufacturer of recovery discs.
See you soon.

Original title: connect Windows 7 to the output of user profiles?
I want to reinstall Windows
My user profiles are on a separate HARD diskIs it possible to connect the new install of Win 7 to these existing profilesOr I'll create all new profiles and just move all the files manually? You can change the registry so that it points to your old profile folder. However, I suspect that this would cause problems because the SID and many registry keys would be incorrect for the current installation. I would like to move the folders manually.

If you tried to log on to Windows and received an error message telling you that your user profile is damaged, you can try to fix it. You will need to create a new profile and then copy the files from the existing to the new profile. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to perform these operations, including the new account that you created.

Vista user profile Service service has no logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
When we turn on our laptop on Vista we get a message "the service user profile Service has no logon. User profile cannot be loaded. Repair office m7760n HP Vista Home premium starts but no user profile Service
The motherboard has been replaced with a refurbished same mobo. You press the power button / stop and Vista on the original HD started to connect with my name icon. No not the user, a password. Clicked on it and it came up saying no. user profile service. You should know that there are two HD to the power upward, I have the HD with Win 7 as the HO elementary school. The choice of either Win 7 on a hard drive or OS Vista on the other HD is available until the player Win 7 boots if no selection is made. It also means mode win 7 I have access to the files and Vista HD.
List kindly steps so that I can start Vista. There are apps that I can not port to Win 7. (Original CD are lost and the apps are abandoned) The files are saved, not applications. I sent this request to HP as well; waiting for a response. My modest pension made me do it by myself. Never open a folder so far; Just Google and You Tube. The software is quite a different ball game.Thank youHello
1. What is the error message when you try to download Microsoft security essentials?
Glad to know that you are able to boot to vista again.
Yes, you can format the Vista disk and use the disk to save backups of Windows 7 you have backed up all the files on the drive, or is no longer need these files, you can also partition the hard drive into different readers and use the space more efficiently.
Please follow the links below to partition the disk of Vista.

Profile of user ultimate Vista - lost
This problem happened to me twice before and each time I have taken the way of ease and format C: and reinstalled from scratch. I tried the system recovery, but the old version ONLY displayed was for today. There must be a better way.
Ideally, I would like to recover the loss profile NOT to create a new.
Events Time table oif:
1) connect as an administrator and Windows backup utility used to make my weekly incremental backup.
(2) logged on administrator and logged as a user.
(3) a new desltop displayed and all my desktop icons disappeared except the Recycle Bin.
(4) checked the user profile and found he had today.
(5) checked the user (name) in Windows Explorer and the folders found as desktop, Documents etc. etc. disappeared. It was a new user ID. The old ID (eponymous) disappeared with all of its associated files.
Rather than rebuild from scratch, what files of my backups weekly I have to copy the C: drive to recover my old user profile?
If this cannot be done, what files should I copy my weekly backups to the NEW user profile for my office is back to normal with all the icons I used every day on this topic.
Thank you.
Thanks Lorien.
I did exactly as you suggested in your first sentence. Unforunately, the obtained profile saved had already been corrupted. So the only answer at this point is to recreate the 'new' profile for as close to the former.
It is a recurring problem I've experienced with all OS from XP. For no reason that I can find, corrupts or removes a profile from the BONE and I was never able to recover from it by restoring a backup of Microsoft.
As I said in my first post, I just it sucked upward and did a format/reinstall because I felt after that profile has been lost or corrupted and retrieve could not restore, I felt the whole OS is now corrupt and had more faith that further damage will not happen.
I don't have the time or money to send dumps to Microsoft to see if he can understand what happened then I'll use a 3rd party backup program (I can't no more trust to Microsofts) do a 'full' backup of the disc and then the ole format/reinstall using Windows 7. I don't trust Vista more now either.

Use the hidden administrator account to lower your user account (to the lowest level) APPLY/OK then go back

Remove profile Vista window for one of the two users.
How can I take a user profile on a computer using Windows Vista without causing a problem with the registry? In addition, cannot know how to make a backup of the registry key, including the ProfileList. Can someone help me with this? I'm trying to clean off the computer of my husband of my things because he bought a new computer for Christmas.
You can delete a user profile by going to control panel and using the users section to delete the profile. It automatically cleans the registry for you. Here's how: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/93026-user-account-delete.html
If you want to backup, you can create a control point system restore (which contains a backup of the registry). Here's how: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/create-a-restore-point-for-windows-vistas-system-restore/

Why Windows Vista does not load user profile?
When logging on it says unable to load the user profile, but the profile is there when I log in Administrator account, how do I recognize my account that I used to use? Everything worked fine until I went to reboot my Dell Vosstro 220, running Vista SP2 with all latest updates... He went to the Startup Repair, and after awhile, I was dirrected to restart the computer. When it restarted, it went to a temporary user profile named after one it starts normally, but there was 3-0 and temp after the profile. So the desktop icon were almost all gone and when you run a temp profile nothing is saved in it when you use... I've logged on to the administrator account and under C:\computer\users my account, I used to use with 2 temporary accounts. One was exactly like my normal account (mountain), but with temp000 after her. I went to Microsoft Answers and he said to go to regedit and find the profiles under machine\software\microsoft \windows NT\profiles and change the name of the supposely accounts 2 so it would not load the Temp account. I followed the instructions to a T and everything is OK except that now it does not load the Temp file, it just says: windows could not load the user profile. I have to hit Control, Alt, delete to bring up the Task Manager and then type Administrator and password that works very well. When I click on administrator, it displays the screen with all that on the computer. MountainMan used to be there under administrator, but he disappeared. If I go down to users in a subcatigory under computer and users it lists all of the accounts that I should be able to access. All the information is there, it doesn't seem right to see as an account profle to load up. I've always had it set to start on MountainMan account without password. Now it takes forever to load the administrator account. It must also be typed in each time instead of remember accounts. How can I get MountainMan load again? The info is there, but he doesn't seem to know the location more. Even when I type in MountainMan it just says unable to load the user profile. I don't know if typing in the name of the account is the same problem or if I have 2 problems. I appriciate any help to correct this situation.
Also just FYI, I deleted temporary files after changing names, in which case they were confusing. Hi James,
1. When you created a new user account, have you configured it as an administrator?
2. When you connect to the old user profile you are able to view your data?
