• Mac Pro el capitan: username and/or pw not accepted: How can I boot up to fix this

  I recently acquired a firmware Mac Pro 2009 4.1, loaded with a version update of el capitan.  I immediately changed the admin password but has not changed the admin username, nor have I evolved Autostart and name of user and password until today. NOW, it will not accept any combination of username / password.  How to overcome this gaffe to change the user name and password.

  mistakes have been made when entering user names and that they never disappear. I see where you can delete paswords but cannot find where to remove them these usernames (usually email addresses).

  Follow these steps to delete the recorded data (form) in a drop-down list:

  1. Click on the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. Select an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or the cursor key
     do not click with the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. Press the DELETE key (on a Mac: shift + del) to delete the highlighted entry

  My iCloud account cannot be verified because I made a typing error when entering my Apple id/username during installation. It's somehow correct everywhere elsewhere (Apple fairy fixed?). How can I fix it to iCloud?  I thought that my phone was backing up every night but think not.

  Can you explain what you mean? You enter your Apple ID during what configuration? Are you creating a new iCloud account? Not quite understand the question?

• Whenever I update FireFox all my usernames and passwords vanish in password manager

  For several updates recent Firefox all my usernames and passwords (stored in password manager) disappear. I was able to recover them by exchanging one or more of the three files to a previous version ('Key3db', 'Logins.json' and 'Prefs.js') until this WHAT THE LAST THREE OR FOUR updates. This patch no longer works and I hesitate so far. I would like to know... a) this bug has been fixed?
  (b) if it is not, how can I keep my ID & password somewhere else so I can quickly re - install, or at least see them in a list so I can manually copy all back in?
  (c) how to prevent a pop-up annoying telling me to update to FireFox (other than by the update)?

  I used FireFox with happiness for many years, but this problem is very annoying and I am looking to change (with great reluctance) to another browser if an other update loses all usernames and passwords, and I have to re - install an older version to get back them.

  Sometimes, the password manager does not save the username, but just the password. A way to insert the username, or forcing the Manager to save it? I have experimented with this and are unable to save the user name.

  It might be 5% of my password sites. Could not get an any of them to work right. They are all different types of sites.

  You can try the 'saved Password Editor' found on the page modules. I find it rather useful myself.

  Sorry I don't have the web address on the top of my head right now, but you can find it by going to Manager modules - tools > Add-ons - and type 'Saved password editor' in the search bar.

  Master password enter usernames and passwords automatically, or should the user still manually enter this info?

  Yes, after you set a master password, you will be asked to enter when Firefox needs to access your stored passwords. It will "unlock" the usernames and passwords you have saved and Firefox will automatically added automatically in for you when you navigate from site to site.

  When you are finished using the web, you can exit Firefox to "lock" your usernames and passwords.

• Windows 8.1, why Thunderbird have profiles in username\appdata\local and username\appdata\roaming?

  I searched online for how to find my address book and found an article that says to look in Users\username\appdata\local\thunderbird. I have not found it, I don't have to search and found in Users\username\appdata\roaming\thunderbird. Do I the Users\username\appdata\local\thunderbird directory, or is it a remnant of a previous version of Thunderbird? I would delete if I don't need.

  Background information:
  When the Thunderbird program is installed it puts it here:

  • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\

  or if you are using 64-bit windows, it will be here:

  • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Thunderbird\

  When you run Thunderbird, it will create a default profile, and this is where all your accounts email, address books, filters, passwords etc. are stored. Use for backup purposes.

  • C:\Users\Windows user name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Profile name\

  Windows also creates some cache folders and files, that is stored here:

  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Thunderbird

  These files and folders do not contain any emails etc and are not necessary for backup purposes.

  You can clear the cache of Thunderbird.
  Tools > clear recent history.

  Windows uses the AppData\Local.

• How to fix "Firefox stopped to usernames to connect to earthlink.

  FF used to present, in a drop down menu, all my names of Earthlink (email addresses) when I clicked in the user name box to start a connection Earthlink Webmail. I had then just need to select the address I wanted to access and provide the appropriate password. Now, I must state the user name I want to use. I did no changes to my system since the prior use.

  I discovered why FF is not my username when I logged in my Earthlink service. I must have turned on "Clear history when FF closes." I turned it off again and FF is now back to normal and easier to use. Problem solved.
