using Windows 7 drivers in Windows 8

Many users have portable computers that originally shipped with (or supported by) Windows 7 and have run into problems where there is no Windows 8 drivers for their hardware.  Fortunately, a lot of Windows 7 drivers work in Windows 8 If you install using Compatibility Mode.  Try the following.

  1. Visit the HP Support and download the Windows 7 drivers for the hardware that you want to try.
  2. Download the driver to your desktop.
  3. Allow extraction until the complete but close the installation process, when it comes to the top.
  4. Navigate to the C:\swsetup\ folder.  You will see your driver listed here.  They usually have a name such as "sp58919".  Navigate to this folder.
  5. In the folder of your driver, you will see a file "setup.exe".  Right-click on this file and select Properties.
  6. Go to the tab "compatibility".
  7. Click on the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode dethrone" and also select Windows 7 in the menu dropdown.
  8. Check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator", below.
  9. Save these changes, and then double-click the "setup.exe" to start the installation.
  10. Once installation is complete, restart your PC and check the functionality of the hardware.

It will not work in all cases, but many users have reported success when using Windows 7 drivers in Windows 8 in order to give it a try!

I hope you find this useful!

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 PSAE6E, and now I want to use Windows 7.
Only, I have a question, if the drivers are supported and what BIOS I need to use

    Hello

Windows 7 is not official on the market. Only the RC (Beta) version is available.
This means that there is no driver specific to the Win 7 OS.

But as you know the Vista is very similar to Win 7 and it is why some drivers (not all) should work and work with Win 7.

Just test and check what can be used and what doesn t work with Win 7

    Hello:

Your model has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics.

It is unlikely that the W8 AMD graphics driver will work on W8.1.

Normally, you can use some of the drivers W7/W8 on W8.1, but the graphics is very doubtful - not switchable graphics anyway.

You can run the windows 8.1 upgrade wizard and see what it reports.

You can use windows print drivers on Vista 7 for printers that do not have support for Vista?

    Hello

It would be useful that you started with the make and model of printer.

Have you already installed the printer on Windows Vista?

  • How can I get the drivers for my Deskjet 932C hp? I use Windows 7 (64-bit).

HI: I'm having trouble finding a driver hp for my Deskjet 932 C. I use Windows 7 64-BIT

HI: I appreciate your help. I tried as you suggest "Windows Update" and I'm afraid of office series 932c or 930 does not load on my computer. I saw something on one of the forums that HP would not be able to release the map drivers for a version of Windows 7 64 - BIT for Deskjet 932C until January. I don't know if this is true or not. In my case I have good news. After I discovered that 'Windows Update' did not help, when I went to 'Printers and devices' on my computer, I noticed that an "unknown device" was loaded with my other stuff. I right click on 'Properties' and it automatically searches on the internet for the appropriate drivers. And I'll be darn my printer works. Life is good. Jim

  • Uses the same drivers as Windows 7 Windows 8?

Hello! I was wondering if Windows 8 uses the same base drivers under Windows 7. I considered dual-boot on my old Windows 7 computer that had defective drivers, to avoid the risk of my newer computer. Would I be able to dual boot and have different drivers, or Windows 8 uses the same drivers on Windows 7? On a side note, it would even work, or have I missed some crucial detail?

Windows 8 and Windows 7 share the same driver model. Windows 8 comes with a standard set of class for the peripheral communes drivers. Usually, drivers that are preloaded with the OS offer basic functionality and you must go to the website of manufacturers of device for drivers optimized for the device, this includes devices such as your video card or a printer.

According to the edition that you run, you can keep your personal files, applications, and settings. Apart from that, I recommend strongly dual boot with your existing operating system rather than replace it with the output preview Windows 8. Preview release is still in heavy development and do not replace a copy of production Windows with it (be it XP, Vista or Windows 7).

    Hello!

Yes, theoretically you can not install Windows 7 that s no problem, buddy! In addition, most Windows Vista drivers are working on Windows 7 too so he should t be a problem for drivers.

At the moment there is no official driver and it will take until the official Windows 7 release.

  • Should I use Windows update for updates or download Toshiba bullet only?

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite laptop computer with Windows XP. I wonder what should I use windows update to download patches and additions or only
install quick fix from the Toshiba support pages? Is there a difference?

I noticed that to the Toshiba support site, there is no new update (miracles) have come in this year at all.

I ask this because I have some time ago asked Toshiba (when I contacted their support) I use only WLAN updates provided by Toshiba, Intel does not update even if I have the Intel WLAN card in my laptop and there was new driver at the side of Intel.

I agree with the previous user. I never installed all the patches page download Toshiba, just used Windows Update option in Explorer. So far, I've never noticed some problems.

If you clean the OS installation I recommend you to install SP2 (if missing) and after doing this run Windows updates.

I can't tell you much on Intel, but I repeatedly used newer drivers directly from the Intel download page.

check the ink levels HP Photosmart D5360 and use Windows 8.1; Windows 7 has a HP Solution Center but Windows 8.1 is not?

    Hi @torbay,

By your post, I see that you have no software to verify the printer ink levels using Windows 8.1. I would like to help you today.

I checked online and there is a software HP Photosmart full feature and driverswho should still support the printer services. If you use the old or Windows Update drivers, remove them and install the latest drivers.

You can also download and run the print and Scan doctor, it can predict the ink levels and services available for the printer. HP printers - help print and scan the doctor for Windows to solve printer problems. Go to the section how can I use the services of diagnosis and cleaning of printer?

  • try to use Windows Update with Windows Mobile 6.1 gets error code 80072ee7

First of all, I don't know why it is not a category to select Windows Mobile as the "main product" this issue is about.  Microsoft should really put in place the best support for their mobile products.

That being said, here's my problem.  On my AT & T Tilt, which operates under Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, I can very well browse the web, use applications that require the transmission of data, connect to a wireless network in the region and can synchronize with my PC Vista very well... but try to use Windows Update to the operating system is up to date always fails each time with the same error code, no matter what I try to do.

I saw something on the fixing of the same code error on Windows 7, but I don't think that it applies as Mobile 6.1 does not have a "Drivers" folder in the Windows system folder.  Solution Windows 7 involved by changing the "Hosts" file, but I can't seem to find where such a file may be under Mobile 6.1, or if Windows Mobile uses even a Hosts file at all.

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?  Or am I pretty much just stuck, until I can afford to get one of the new 6.5 ridiculously expensive smartphones?

    Hi wbdes,

Since it is a support forum for Windows Vista and 7 consumption, these BONES are for the laptop computer desk/computer system.  You should try to repost your question in the forum specific to Windows Phone for best results.
