For a month I use SSD with my laptop satellite. I installed original recovery image which includes the protection of HARD drive utility. I can start, but it is inactive.

Strange thing is that with the HARD drive it was idle too. To be honest, I don't care about it. It is preinstalled but I have disabled auto-start.

I think you can remove the system.

Once 1 turn off the HDD, its become ok protection.

    Hello

The history seems a bit strange and mysterious.

First of all it s very strange that the laptop crashes without reason and that the protection of HARD drive tool reports errors.

According to these two questions, I assume that your disk is not ok and it possible s it fails.

In such cases and HDD replacement is desirable to check if it helps to solve both of these annoying problems.

    Hello

It's a very bad situation, but at the present time there is no Vista for Tecra A8 drivers. Only thing to do is check http://pc-support.toshiba-europe.com/vista/ from time to time and see if the drivers will be available in the near future.

  • Portege M700 - protection of HARD drive problem

    Hello world

I searched the net for a full day now try to find answers to this.
Note, I am an accountant and not a computer geek.

I have a laptop Portege M700. I am updating from Vista to Win7.

    Here's the problem:
-Initially tried to uninstall Toshiba HDD Protection via Control Panel and got the message error "internal error 2753 setupftc.exe.
-Then searched the Internet and realized that I had to stop the service first. Note that I does NOT initially stop the service in the Service Manager.
-Now went in the Service Manager to seek Protection of HARD drive and it is not at all.
-Returned east to configuration-Toshiba HDD Protection Panel is listed as a program. It will not always uninstall it... the activiates Assistant uninstaller, and after a few seconds, he simply says the same error message is ' «internal error 2753 setupftc.exe»»

-a search on the internet about this error does no useful result. They underline that the registry cleaner programs. I have NOT installed the registry cleaners.

    - then I went to the registry and created a backup of the registry.
Then tried all the items containing 'HDD Protection' and started deleting them hoping that it would work.
    Then I tried to uninstall.
The computer popped up a message stating that a restart is required.
Tried to restart and got a blue screen.
Then restared in safemode, reloaded the old registry file and VOILA the computer is back to normal again.

    BUT...
I can not even uninstall HDD Protection. Get the same bloody error.

-then downloaded the site Web of TOSHIBA HDD Protection file.
Try to install this file... I get the same error, i.e. "internal error 2753 setuptfc.exe.

Ok.. now, I'm ready to give up.

Really, I didn't wipe my comptuer clean to do a fresh install, because it's such a big hassle. And I'm an accountant, not a computer expert so I don't know what to do for a new installation.
For the time I've wasted on this already, I probably just to find instructions on the net and then made a complete new installation.

All the advice to fix it, pleeeeeeeeeeeease! : ??

    Thank you.

So clean Toshiba HDD protection tool didn't help installation then some registry entries must be screwed to the top.
Believe me, best you can do is to install the OS to aid installation of HARD - disc of recovery http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm recovery mode or use if you have a.
After a clean install of Vista, everything will work correctly, and then you can start with the Win7 upgrade procedure.

When you open Treesize scan select in the Menu and you will see a list of drives. Click on C and it will generate a list of files. Display names and 6 larger files sizes and the total at the top of the list.

I'm not the person who started the thread to which you gave this advice, but I share the same problem.  My hard drive seems to be fill by itself.  I have scanned for viruses (McAfee) and malicious software (Spybot S & D) and there is none.  It seems that after 10 to 20 GB of space to clear, within days he is new.  I look in the current process and I have no idea what these things are.

I have Windows 7 (SP1) Home edition Premium 64 bit running on a desktop computer HP p6270z with an Athlon II x 4 620 processor, 2.6 GHz, I bought in 2007.

The C drive is 452 GB and right now I have 731 MB of free space.

    TreeSize tells me the following:

total line of the top = 123.6 GB

6 points below albums that are:

    40,5 GB Windows

    Users of 39.0 GB

    ProgramData 22.2 GB

    11.6 GB Program Files (x 86)

    6.0 GB [4 files]

    2.7 GB program files

It doesn't seem to be accounting for the majority of which is placed on the hard drive.

I want my disk space hard back.   I have a 452 GB HDD and my data contains 39 GB yet I have no place.  It is at the origin of things is not to work properly.

  • Satellite R840 - protection of HARD drive utility is not hired HARD drive in the ODD location

    Hello

I replaced my regular hard drive with an SSD. Even more I also changed my optical drive with the old hard drive using a special Wcaddie found on Ebay.
Everything works perfectly (windows on the ssd) and data on the hard drive.

I seem to have a problem with the Toshiba HDD protection software (used to park the drive hard if they fall on laptop id).
When I run the installation of this software, there is no hired the HDD in the odd location.

Is it possible to make this work?

    Thank you

    Ben

    Hello Ben.

This software is tested with the original configuration s notebook.
Are you sure that Toshiba supports these updates on this laptop model? I don t think so.

In General, you should be happy that the second HARD drive is recognized correctly.

  • Portege M300: Is the protection of HARD drive only for the brand of Toshiba drives?

    Hello

I am trying to upgrade my Portege M300 with a hard drive bigger, as seen on the Portege forum, I posted the thread after that two hard drives from samsung does not similarly, shortly after the installation of the new.

I just want to know if the protection of Toshiba HARD drive utility is simply made for Toshiba hdd or if it can work on any other brands of hard drives of brand. As I say, I want to upgrade a 60 GB to 160 GB and 2 new hard drive failed. I've since updated my bios to the latest version and I also consider not to install this hard drive protection feature, just in case where it will cause problems once more with my 3rd HDD replacement of same nature.

I appreciate any thoughts on this.
    Thank you very much
    C

    Hello

Usually it s any manufacturer is.
If the HARD disk supports the CHIP so it should be possible to use this HARD drive.
The HARD disk protection tool verifies the parameters of the HARD disk.
But the settings are configured by HDD manufacture then it might be possible that the HARD disk will not work if the tool would not choose the settings correctly.

  • Password Protection for hard drive on the Libretto U100

I want to protect my data in the event that I should lose my U100. Initially, I asked a password to the Bios, which is quite easy using Toshiba Assist/user password. But even better would be to apply the same password on the hard drive as well. On the Tecra M5, you can make this Toshiba Assist and safety help, but there is no option on my U100.

The Bios has options to enter a 'HARD disk' password but when I try to do, he turns back to "Unlisted" when I try to save the change.

There is no mention of HHD password in UK documentation, but the Australian version seems to have the feature. This site http://www.continent.com.au/buy-1990.html claims "hard drive password prevents unauthorized hard disk access and can be synchronized with the password" – that sounds just the same as on my M5.

I would like to know if anyone here has had success with application to a disk to their U100 password.

    Hello

Toshiba security help is not installed on the Libretto U100 and so you cannot use this function as on the Tecra M5.

Sometimes, the HARD drive password can be set in the BIOS.
If you want to set the password disk HARD check if it can be done in the BIOS!

    But attention!
If you forgot the disc HARD password you will not be able to access the HARD drive and the HARD drive is no longer accessible.

  • Use disk utility to erase hard drive, erase everything, it

I just use disk utility to erase the hard drive of Windows base.  It has 6,2 GB of space.  The erase process takes only a few seconds.

I read that it could take hours.  I suspect that he does not erase the hard drive.    I have several old PC drives and want to use disk utility to erase.

How would I know if it works?

I would just use disk utility to put those (journaled) in Mac

  • Disc SSD C / W PC - 7 F - hard drive seems to stop while riding this last

I had a PC W-7 HP 64-bit on a black disk WDC.  It was nice, but I wanted to improve performance (I had already upgraded to 16 GB of RAM and the processor Intel is a non i5).  So I bought an SSD Intel wiped the WDC lifeguard, re-copied black on black of WDC data files and installed W - 7 on the SSD.  The two disks are installed via internal SATA 6.0 GB/s connectors.

Everything is much faster now.  Microsoft Updates just blaze in full.  Even the W - 7 four-color logo never has a chance to complete the rotation before the login screen appears.

There is only an oddity.  I expect the WDC Black to be recognized immediately.  If I look at computer after the startup, the SSD and black WDC are displayed correctly.  But if I double-click and then double-click on one of the folders, the system stops for a few seconds before displaying the contents of the folder.  The PC seems to be mounting.  Double-click on later are never slow down, only the first.

Is it possible to force Windows to recognize the WDC black during startup?

    Hello Baroque,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

SSDS are ideally faster and more reliable than traditional hard drives. Try to follow the suggestions below to expedite the black WDC on your computer.

However, you can also try adding black WDC to the Windows Search Index, which would help you to perform very fast searches on your computer.

You can see the following article for more information about basic indexing options.

  • Satellite Pro A10 does not start (HARD drive seems to be missing)

Hello, I hope someone can give me some advice on this problem: I have a 2 years Satellite Pro A10. Recently, it starts not at all and I noticed that if I look at directories on the C: drive using the command prompt, it said "file not found". Cannot start Windows at all, not even in Safe Mode.
Using the recovery disks is I help spread messages as no such fixed disc and 'Extraction impossible '.
is - that say I have:
    1 a hard drive damaged
    2. defective connections on the HARD drive? -If Yes, how I fix that?

the system didn't crash before it happened, she doesn't have to load up when I started it.
    Would appreciate any help.

    Thank you
    SCL

    Hello

Well, it could be a hardware malfunction of HARD drive. Yes, it is possible. But I don t think that there is a bad connection. You used this HARD over the last two years and you n t change the settings of connections on this HARD drive. Is this good?
If it possible s so I suggest you of to completely format the HARD drive.
Then try to start the recovery procedure.

However if the HARD drive has a functioning default (ie. crushing of the head), so the only way is to replace this device.

  • My h8-1214 is EXTREMELY slow. Hard drive seems to be guilty. Install an SSD?

How do you install a hard drive that is faster than the stock drive 5600 rpm on this machine?  It is so SLOW to start and the Sims 3 loading lasts 30 minutes.  My last machine (HP 4 years) was actually FASTER than this new machine. (as is my laptop (H7) 5 year old and 3 years Pavilion HPE 2101 my wife).    Windows Performance Index shows 7.3 to 7.5 - 7, 4-7, 4-5, 9 (the hard drive)... Obviously, I can't replace the drive since it's the startup disk and contains the restore information, but I can install another (faster) drive and install games and data to load on this subject?  I upgraded the video card (obviously) with the appropriate PSU 700 watt and looked up his score, but need help for this.

Well, I talked to my brother (MS Certified tech with about three degrees of the computer) and he walked me through a few settings.  It turns out the USB boot all that was the culprit.  Disable it decreased my boot time less than a minute as the seat of the machine.  So happy that I called him first before you undo everything.  He called for him before you post here, of course.
