V3 - 771g S8 i7. V2.28 BIOS how to disable secure boot mode and allow to boot from usb/dvd

Hi people,

Recently my laptop w8 shared with my brother get sick. So I decided to get out the trusty old diagnosis

USB and dvd, you know, ubcd centos ophrack. Much to my dismay, I couldn't start any of them. So after some faffing

everything on the net, I was able to boot/secure boot / disabled, which meant I could f12 at startup in the Boot Manager.

Unfortunately, the drama is over. Kindly listed boot manager internal hard drive, but not bootable usb or dvd connected.  so I thought, I'm going to be cunning and change the boot order of start. Yet once the monster of Bios Acer jeeringly laughed at my attempts to

take control of the material, I dared try control simply because I happened to pay a substantial amount of money to acer.

So, it seems, the only option I have left to change is boot/boot mode / (boot uefi/legacy). So what I need to change to restore the boot control, is to change legacy BIOS uefi? Who will install the w8 cack?

Also what happens if I want to replace the hard drive with an ssd in the near future, is not not to work?

Oh, I tried to get help from the enamel of acer, their response said essentially bios/uefi is isn't a problem acer because it is sw and realized

What seemed like a pay per minute service.

Skills of good customer Acer.

Any help appreciated,

Hello..

    Hi all

Can someone help me find a way to disable booting from removable devices on a toshiba Satellite R830.

    Thank you?

    Hello

You can't disable booting from a boot device.
You can simply change the boot order in the BIOS.

If you don t want to start, for example: USB, just put the HARD drive as first boot device.
Now the laptop will boot first from the HARD drive. If it isn t HARD (because of missing systems) bootable disk, the BIOS will pass to the next device, IE: CD/DVD player

Is it possible for a start of it on the y500 with sli? How? When I turn on the laptop that I can hear the cd loading, but it still goes to windows.

Ishaan is correct since only today, I managed to get my hands on a Y500 to test. I have to admit that the Y500 is a great machine to own :-D

In any case, with regard to get this to work, you will need to go into BIOS.
To start the BIOS configuration utility:
    1 turn off the computer.
2 press the Novo button (small button with the curved arrow, located next to the receptacle) and select Configuration of the BIOS.

    > Go to the tab "BOOT".
    > Under"Boot" change into "Legacy support".
    > Press F10 and save the setting.
    > Machine will restart and boot press F12
    > When the boot menu appears, select desired boot.

Hope this helps and post your results.

Can't boot from USB on laptop Acer NC-V5-571. another boot enabled is bios, but and I tried to boot from usb DVD etc. (starting from things that works on other PCs. I've set USB and DVD as a priority higher from startup in the BIOS. I get the alternative start menu, choose DVD or USB, but it starts just Windows 8.

Boot from an additional media under Windows 8, you will ensure that you have either disabled Secure Boot or changed to UEFI in the traditional mode.  The following articles describe how to do this.

  • How can I boot from USB - Portege A200

    Hello

I have a Portege A200 which is only a couple of years, but the hard drive no longer works. Initially, I thought that this was due to corrupt the boot disk record, but after trying to replace the drive hard (with two different readers), is showing a #0 IDE error when starting. So I came to the conclusion that the IDE controller chip is dead.

In order to get labour latop, I burned a cd with the ubunto ISO. It starts off ok but due have only 512 MB of RAM, the system is somewhat limited and nothing installed is lost each time that I reboot.

Now, I bought a 2 GB flash drive and installed ubuntu on it. My other problem is that there seems to be no boot from USB HDD or USB option in the bios.

The options I can think of are:
    (1) Upgade the bios so that it supports the start of memory stick (although no HARD drive so do not know how I could reflash the BIOS or if there is even an upgrade of the BIOS that would support this feature)
    (2) create a cd that starts the boot process then tells the system to continue the initialization of the USB key (this is possible and does anyone know where I might be able to get these software)
    (3) boot from CD but the use of USB to keep any recorded information / everything installs etc (I suppose that similar to option 2 except the cd would manage the entire OS and USB would just "extra" information)

If there are other options if someone may think I am happy to give them a go. Seems a shame to have to chuck to a laptop that is not particularly old, because the IDE controller chip has failed on the mobo.

I have apppriciate any help anyone can offer.
    Thank you very much

    Hello

First I have to say that it of not possible to boot from the external USB device as USB, CD/DVD USB drive or USB HDD.
It of only possible to boot from the external USB FDD (floppy) disk

However, no opportunities for startup are clear, but I think that you misunderstood the IDE #0 error message. According to m that the IDE controller is not defective but only the new drive HARD is not compatible and not recognized by the BIOS.

There are different reasons for this problem
For the most part this error message appears if the HARD drive master/slave/c-salt settings are not correct.
Generally these settings don t need to be changed or switched on the 2.5 hard disks but some hard drives support a rider that needs to be fixed in the correct position. But I put t if your HARD drive supports this

In addition, the size of HARD drive isn't is not compatible could be the reason for these error messages!
I would recommend so finally communicating with ASP in your country to get a new, compatible HARD drive and see if the same error still occurs.

    Good luck

I'm interested in trying to boot from USB, at the present time, my bios does not.
I am looking to update my bios. There is a updated bios updated for me to download (3.10WIN).

    I have 3 questions:

    (1) 3.10WIN allows to boot from USB?

    (2) is 3.10WIN related to the use of MS Vista? (Looking at this article , it seems that the new phoenix / toshiba bios only allows panoramas...?)

    (3) how to settle?

(with ubuntu 7.10 works well... aside from the sound)

    As to the question;

    (1) No, it is not possible to boot from a memory stick USB HDD or USM

    (2) each BIOS for each series of Toshiba notebook is different! Please don t no matter what other laptop computer BIOS or fixed PCs. Satellite L30 - 10 d belongs to the series of the 3,10 and PSL33E BIOS is OS independent. If your laptop comes with XP then the BIOS supports XP completely. Of course, you can try to install Vista but it is possible that some features of the laptop as FN keys will be does not work

    (3) the BIOS should always be done in the Windows operating system. As you can see on the page of the Toshiba driver the BIOS version is called 3.10Win - version

    Hi @kvartsnorsk

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I know that you are looking for drivers for Windows XP, unfortunately, this laptop was not sold configured for this OS. Drivers are available for windows 7 and 8 (32 and 64 bit)

What happens if I do not see my operating system?

On the boot USB device, it is likely that your bootable usb image isn't UEFI, so you should enable legacy boot in the BIOS to allow boot off this device.

  • under win8.1, how to boot from a dvd using UEFI on a hp 700-109 c desire?

I installed a Kingston ssd 120 GB in the 700-109 c and you want to use clone drive ACRONIS to reduce proportionally the 2T dirve to the win8.1 120 GB and boot from there.  I can't activate the legacy in BIOS support because the software warns UEFI to boot from the disk of destination after the migration, must be enabled before we start the cloning process.   However, I am not able to boot from the dvd Kingston (ACRONIS) with secure boot UEFI active.  How do I proceed?

    Hello

Cloning of the HD under Windows 8 is sometimes problematic. You must disable Secure Boot and turn on legacy mode. Your PC should reboot. I can boot Windows 8 as well in Legacy and UEFI mode with my HP laptop that the use of Windows 8.

As a side note, usually with UEFI, you will need to insert the CD, and then the PC power cycle for UEFI to recognize an eligible UEFI device such as a CD or USB flash.

A problem you will encounter is that the bootloader of Windows 8 will demonstrate to the sata hard drive after the clone so it does not start. Another possible cause is that the HP recovery partition is not going to work. Don't forget that you have a set of HP recovery or USB flash drives.

Paragon makes one a great migration and cloning for windows8 utility which also contains a boot corrector function to manage the windows bootloader question. It is 8.1 compatible window is available for $12.   There is even a video available.

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

You can buy a new copy of Windows 7 with a valid COA and the product key.

The screenshots below is from a notebook HP 15 t-j100... options and the configuration on your computer screens may differ.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer will ask you to confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

If you install from a USB key and see a message of "load a driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing", it's because as 'System Configuration' > 'Config USB3.0 in pre-start' is set to 'Enabled '. This should be set to 'Auto '. This should clear up the CD/DVD device is missing.

In addition, as the hard drive is probably partitioned as TPG, you must start using the internal CD/DVD UEFI or UEFI-Key/key USB to install Windows on a GPT-partitioned disk. Turn on or restart the computer and press "F9" or "ESC", then "F9" when prompted. Select the source of boot UEFI you use and you press "ENTER".

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own disc of Windows 7 SP1. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

    From the top...

    (1) turn on the computer and immediately start typing the key "ESC".

    (2) when the MENU is displayed, press "F10".

    3) navigate the BIOS to the "System Configuration", 'USB 3.0 pré-OS Config' and the value 'Auto '.

    4) navigate the BIOS to the "System Configuration", "Startup Options" and "Secure Boot" the value 'Legacy Support' the value "Enabled" and "Disabled"

    5) press "F10" and click "YES" to "Exit Saving Changes".

    (6) computer should restart and display "Change of operating system startup Mode"... type the four digit code, then press "ENTER".

    (7) let Windows 8 boot to the top and put the Windows 7 SP1media in the drive to DVD or a USB port, then logout / stop.

    (8) to turn on the computer and immediately start typing the key "ESC".

    (9) when the MENU is displayed, press the key "F9" and then select the correct boot UEFI source (CD/DVD drive internal, USB drive, CD/DVD, USB Flash drive, etc.). ... Press any key to start the CD/DVD, if prompted.

    (10) select "Language", "time / currency ' and 'Keyboard' settings and then click"Next ".

    11) click on 'install now '... Check "Accept terms" and click "next". Click on "Custom (Advanced)".

    (12) you may need to provide AMD SATA/RAID drivers at the moment... Download AMD Chipset Drivers (Chipset / AHCI / USB 3.0)

    (13) ' where do you want to install Windows 7? Select "Disk / Partition" with "Unallocated space", you created earlier, and then click "next".

    (14) follow all instructions and meet the need. Enter the Windows 7 key when asked.

Please post the "Hardware ID" Device Manager (text only) for all remaining missing or unknown devices, as shown in the example below.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Can't boot from USB in BIOS FRIEND

Well, yesterday, I decided to move from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7. I then downloaded a file ISO of Windows 7 from Digital River and made a bootable USB key with it using Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. Then I put the USB in my old pc to boot from it. In this game with the boot from USB, I have the problem that I think is related with my version of the BIOS. Is AMI BIOS v2.53. If I go to Boot Device Priority it shows boot devices only 3 [link1] - my c: / drive, CD-DVD-ROM and floppy. When I go to the menu hard drives [Link2], it shows all my HARD drive and the 3rd disc is my USB bootable [link3]. And to expand my USB in the Boot Device Priority menu, I put it as the 1st player [link4]. Instead, I can't put my C: / drive as the Boot Device [link5] 2nd. And after I exit and save the changes, it will not boot from usb. It appears the error "a disk read error has occurred. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart» If I try to boot from another boot menu F8 [link6] button, it will also give me the same error. This problem could be linked with my BIOS version?  I don't know how to solve the problem.
