Then you can watch:

The task bar has two control panel icons
The task bar has two icons in Control Panel. When I added my office to the two taskbar Control Panel icons apperded. (I have the taskbar right-click, then toolbars and selected Desktop). I can delete the second icon in Control Panel, but it returns to the restart. I found as subjects during a Google search. Someone else has the same double icons? Is there a fix to Windows? I am running Windows 7 on the new system.
That did not work.
It does not - it did for me when I go from 7 to 8 and then 8 to 8.1
You MUST delete a registry key.
Create a file "deleteCPIcon.reg" with:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{5399E694-6CE5-4D6C-8FCE-1D8870FDCBA0}]
Run the file
Voila!

box inside the icons on the desktop
Why so it a checkbox inside the icons on my desktop?
It's something that releases latest Windows so that you can select multiple items on your desktop without having to hold down the CTRL key. Quite simply, you have to hover over the icons / items that you want to select, and then click the checkbox to select it.

Issue of layers panel: icon not updated
A layer of Adj. levels lies above a regular layer. When I make a change with the levels, the updates to the image normally, but the image in the layers Panel icon does not - it still reflects its original appearance.
I think that icon was updated in CS5. Am I dreaming? Is there a new décor?
Thank you
Sonny
The layer icon is not updated by an adjustment on another layer - it always shows the current state of this layer, and has always, as far as I know.

File missing from the files Panel icons
Hi, I have a brand new (demo) installation of Dreamweaver CS6 on a Mac and in the files Panel icons for the files aren't there. The icons of the folders are there but where there should be an icon for a file there are empty spaces. It's frustrating because it makes it harder to see the list of files and work with the files.
I tried to uninstall Dreamweaver, deleted the preference files and reinstall but who did nothing at all.
How can I get the file icons to show?
This is a known issue with OSX and must be attached with the 10.7.4 update.

When I click on "Mouse" icon in Control Panel, it returns an error "an Exception occurred while trying to run «C:]windows\system32\shell32.dll, 'C:\windows\system32\main.cpl', the mouse Control_RunDLL»»
I am not able to change any functionality of the mouse, it works.
The sliders in sub windiws are intact.
I tried to install the new mouse component by using the Windows XP installation CD. It installs, but the problem mentioned above is not resolved.

Control Panel icons does not.
Some (most) icons in my control panel do not work. When I double click on it, I don't get an error message. I don't get an hourglass. They just don't do anything. Oddly, they seem to all be related to changes or add/remove elements (for example, add/remove program, display, user accounts, etc.). I searched internet and found a few .cpl files that allow me to access these items through the feature 'run '. When I do that, I am able to use the work in them. This makes me think the lies of the issue with shortcut icon / itself and not with the function (Add/Remove Programs, display, etc.).
Hi ktruesde,
1. did you of recent changes on the computer?
2. do you have security software installed on the computer?
3 when was the last time it was working fine?
Check if the problem persists in safe mode.
A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222
If the issue is not still in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353
Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

The menu program monitor Panel icon is invisble
Hi, can't seem to get the menu panel which is generally in the right corner of the program monitor icon...
I don't know if the icon is defined as invisible somehow (see photo), or if there is a simple way to get to show that I'm missing, but if you are looking for a solution, I could not find where the Panel menu is missing at first?
I use Premiere Pro CC 2015 on a PC.
Please let me know if anyone knows a way to make it appear
Thank you!
Look under the key, or right-click on the screen.

Creating custom using Extension Builder 3 Panel icon?
How should we do about adding a custom icon for extension set with Extension Builder 3 signs?
The default icon looks like Lego (see below)
I would like to replace the generic icon with an image which can visually identifies the Panel even when it's minimized.
Found.
- In Eclipse, choose window > Open Perspective > other > Adobe Extension Builder 3.
- Right click on your project, and select Adobe Extension Builder 3-> Bundle manifest Editor.
This editor allows you to change the properties of your extension - Bundle Manfest editor > leg Extension (bottom) > tab User Interface (back to top). Images used .png and it worked.

I am trying to create a custom icon for my Panel when it is docked in Photoshop CS5 (Mac).
I can use the steps outlined in a recent post (create 2 .png files and place them manually in the file plug-ins/panels/MyPanel/content after the Panel was exported).
How can I get to automatically place when I export the .mxi file? -If I place 2 .png files in the current folder of .gpc they get exported to the directory: folder connect ins/panels/MyPanel/Content/MyPanel.assets instead.
If I pakage the Panel as a file .zxp, is it a token of suitable file I can add to the .mxi file to move them instead?
Thanks in advance
Resolved - edited the .mxi file and add the following point:
I had tried several times without success on an existing item. Worked OK on a new Panel.
