  Assuming that you only changed the hard drive, and the ID of the computer physical remained the same, you should do neither.

  I reformmated and installed a licensed copy of XP on a VAIO (VGN-TXN25N) to replace the Vista supplied with the machine. The Office is unable to fill the VAIO screen and is surrounded by black edges on all 4 sides. Screen reolution changes what I see in the office but not the size of the office itself to the screen. I think that the XP disk, I have installed included pilot different that Vista came with the laptop. But I don't know much to find the correct drivers and was a failure on the site Web of VAIO.
