VApps moving between OrgVDCs - lose VAPP network/firewall settings

Hi all

I move between 2 OrgVDCs (vCloud Director 5.1) vApps. The two CDV have the same pool of network VAPP and assigned provider, but when the VAPP moves (or to be more precise, when it clones), it does not have the original network settings.

This is why I have to go manually in the vApp and select "External supplier" as my connection - when I go to "Set up Services" my firewall rules is clear. Does anyone know how to remedy this? Ideally, I'd like the entire configuration VAPP be moved/cloned in my new VDC - I tried both via the interface user and rest

Thank you

JH

Never mind, I found it - was just a checkbox "share this network with other committees in the org.

  • VAPP network edge firewall is not available?

    Hi there guys

I hope someone can help me with this one. We are developing a point of Contact for our company to prove the business value of VCloud Director (VDC1.5). We have put in place everything but we have one last question with VAPP networks. According to our understanding, we can place an edge device Vshield between a paralytic and the Organization's network.

We have implemented the scenario like that, but we can not activate the firewall option, that option remains grayed out depending on the attached screenshot.

If we turn on the DHCP service, VM perimeter firewall is created, but even in this case the firewall option in the interface VCD remains grayed out.

Firewall/routing options will become available when your VAPP network is "patched" to the Organization's network.  You can configure it by going to the networking of your VAPP tab and selecting a network of organizations in the connection drop-down list.  Without having to set up a connection, your network of vApp is only available inside your VAPP and only the DHCP of the on-board equipment features.

  • Satellite L550-1XC - lose my network connection

I recently bought a Satellite L550-1XC running under Windows 7 64-bit. I have a D-link router and two XP machines based on wireless links all very stable. I have connected the Toshiba very easily and he finds the network and the Internet quite easily.

My problem is that the Toshiba randomly loses the network to another PC and printers that are shared on a desktop computer but never loses its Internet connection.

Refresh the network tab can't find the network and it can be 30 or 40 minutes before it will reconnect to the other PC on the network when updating. The signal strength is excellent and the Toshiba can see that several other networks clearly at much lower, neighbouring and other levels. It's very frustrating, reboots do not seem to releive the problem.

Welcome signs because it is driving me crazy. What about Peter

    Hi, Peter D,.

Have you tried updating the driver WLAN? Usually if you always lose the WIFI connection you should try to update this driver. It should work

I have a laptop that I put in place two hardware profiles for the specifications below.  One is anchored (work) and the other is in stand-alone mode (home).  I put my deskstop settings monitor extended with the laptop as main display when it is docked and the external monitor to the main when undocked view, switch off and moving between the dock and undocked States, my monitor preferences resume their single monitor with the main display as the LCD screen of the laptop.

I would like to know if there is a way, either with a batch file, script VBS,... to set these parameters to display by running of the said script.  The video card is an Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics card.  Sorry, I don't have the info exact chipset.  I have set up 2 separate profiles in the application for the video card utility but only makes the manual setting of my display preferences, it does not automatically value them when moving between States anchored and released.

  • HP LaserJet M1522nf begins to lose the network connection

Hello! I have HP LaserJet M1522nf and I use it for about 1 year maybe, but since last week, he begins to lose the network connection (ping failed, web interface does not work too). To be correct, the printer is connected directly to the network through an ethernet cable, and the cable is perfectly fine. His work when you turn it on and for the next 5 to 15 minutes, but after that it lost connection (tasks start fails).

I really like using little aid, some perhaps of advice. Any suggestions?

Hard reset the router to factory settings and reconfigure your settings.  Pass the cable to a different port on the router.  You said that the cable was good... change anyway.  Try now.

  • HP1102w continues to lose the network SSID

My Laserjet 1102w wireless worked fine for about a year.  Now he has started to lose my network connection.  When I print a status page, it shows that it is "connected" to SSID HP8AA7DC, which I assume is the default value of HP, and had no IP address.  I re-installed the printer 3 times in 4 days and it works fine for a day, then the same thing happens.  I am running Windows 7.  To my knowledge, nothing has changed recently other than to have an extra laptop using the network (never printed however).  This could be the cause?

OK, thanks for that.  We will set an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address.  Set the IP Address of the printer to the same as its IP address but replace the latest figures with "250".
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS. It's Google DNS. You can choose a different external DNS if you wish.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • How to keep the session on active network firewall

    Hi Experts,

I installed Oracle 10 g Database Server on the Linux machine and one application on another machine. The normal behavior of the application is that it will connect to the database from some users and called SQL loader will load data into the database on network firewall.

    Problem:

As I have already mentioned that the entire procedure carried out by network firewall is enabled. As Firewall automatically kill the session after a specific time, that's why we want to keep the connection of database for an unlimited period without changing the firewall settings.

So, how can we implement this?

    Kind regards

    S.Rizi

As Firewall automatically kill the session after a specific time...

This means that the firewall doesn't break an IDLE session, use the server in sqlnet.ora:

    SQLNET. EXPIRE_TIME =.

This setting will keep alive a session even if nothing happens.

  • Disk network LAN settings

I've recently replaced under warranty, the HD on one of our laptops. This laptop has been previously connected to our local home-network page via a Belkin wireless router. The host computer is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable. I'm currently trying to re-establish the connection of this laptop in our home LAN. already, it is correctly connected to the internet through the router, but it cannot access printers or files on other LAN computers until I can load network LAN settings. The problem is that the Network Wizard on the desktop of the host (Windows XP) allows the reproduction of these settings on a tape player, while the Office has only a CD/DVD drive. Any ideas?

You don't need a "network configuration" disc (ask the wizard for setting up the network to a disk, not a "tape", but your laptop probably doesn't have a floppy or by car).

If you are already connected the laptop to the router enough for Internet access, all you have to do is to run the "Network Setup Wizard" on the laptop.  See this old, but still valid, MS MVP Malke advice network.

We consider that you have Windows XP on the laptop.  If you have problems, when you post back, be sure to include the version of Windows (XP Home, Vista Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, etc.) on the laptop, including service pack.

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

For XP, start by running the Network Setup Wizard the on all machines (see warning in section A below).

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the XPSP2 Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus with "Internet Worm Protection" (like Norton 2006/07) which acts as a firewall, you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this. The instructions on this link work for XP and Vista:

Set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. See the first link above for more information on Vista sharing.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response.

How can I activate the Windows Firewall?

When I click on it in the Control Panel, I get a message that says "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display WIndows firewall settings".

    I use Microsoft Essentials antivirus.

    Hi Tom,

A firewall is software or hardware that checks information coming from the Internet or a network. The firewall blocks the information or allows information to pass to your computer. If the information is blocked or passed through depends on your firewall settings. A firewall can prevent malicious software (such as worms) to access your computer through a network or the Internet. A firewall can also help stop your computer from malware sent to other computers. Windows XP, Windows XP SP2 and Windows XP SP3 includes firewall software.

Perform the steps from the link below and see if it helps.

How can I turn on or turn off the firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later versions?

I have an Apire one laptop with Windows xp service pace 3. I had to restore it to factory about 3 years ago. Some time after that the sound system began to slow and the Synaptics mouse stop working properly. I can move the pointer, but the left click does not work. It works in safe mode but not in normal windows. I used the Acer eRecovery for correct, but it did not work. I tried to download the driver for the mouse on the internet, but some how it could stop the download. I gave up at tring to fix. Some time in late March or early April, I couldn't access internet and after 22:30. I ran the diagnosis that is provided by internet explore and he said that the HTTP and HTTPS worked but the FTP did not work. AVG later told me my firewall is disabled and there was the possibility to reactivate it and I did. After internet explore stop allowing you to enter certain sites that I wanted to enter, I ran the Diagnostics again and he told me that a firewall client has been the cause of the problem. I tried to control my firewall setting, but had that "due to a problem not identified, windows cannot display the firewall settings". I thought AVG was the problem, so I have unintalled then he returned and attempted to access the firewall but got the same message. I typed in Google MySapce and found this site. I followed a few directions given to others in the thread started by joecarpenter33 and discovered that my firewall has been deleted and Base filtering engine has been deleted also. Hello

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1.

Start the computer in safe mode with network and run a full scan of computer viruses.

To start the computer in safe mode: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true

Run a full scan of the computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free.

    Microsoft safety scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Warning of Security Scanner: there could be a loss of data while performing an analysis using the Microsoft safety scanner to eliminate viruses as appropriate.

    Method 2.

If the steps above do not help, then try to scan the computer using Windows defender in offline mode and check if that helps.

Search for spyware and other potentially unwanted software: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Scan-for-spyware-and-other-potentially-unwanted-software

Therefore, we recommend that you use only one firewall on your computer and disable all others, thus eliminating the risk of potential conflicts and problems related to this.

You can read the AVG documentation by clicking on this link, and see section 6.5:

So, if you are using AVG firewall, it's wise to just disable the XP firewall for more than a firewall running at the same time can lead to performance problems.  Choose one or the other, but not both.

I thought installing AVG would understand this by itself, and you know what to do (used to) but I do not want to install AVG to see.
