We have a Dell all-in-one (AIO) printer 962 and we wish to dispose of it.   Until we do that, however, we would like to ensure you that don't contain any of our private information.  We wondered if this printer was an internal hard drive.  If so, where is it and how can you remove the data and information about this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

    Welcome to the community

This printer has no internal hard drive or a storage inside to store information. Thank you for your message.

  • Transfer of files from the old HARD DRIVE to new computer without an old computer. (He's dead - can not use) I have the hard drive, but need help to transfer my old files and settings.

    ·        My old Win XP computer died - it is completely unusable. I bought a new PC with Win 7 Pro and 1 TB. I still have the old HARD DRIVE (250 GB) which I have attached on the new computer using an external enclosure supports SATA drives. The external hard drive is connected to the computer in USB 3.0. I checked that the new computer can see the external hard drive. (I also used for backups by changing the hard drive with a 2 TB drive 'mass storage' - that works.)

I searched the internet for possible solutions and found no help. If the transfer of files from Microsoft would change the disc to analyze, it would be simple. But if I select the OLD computer it scans the disk I'm on (new) - automatically.

Is there anyone who has had the same problem? He must be because computers die all the time and people buy new computers - who then, somehow, they get the former transferred files. I could do it manually, but that wouldn't change the settings. Last resort would be to buy an old computer XP (SATA), replace the drive. Transfer the files, and then sell this computer.

You may be able to recover your data files, but I hope that you will set up your new system to automatically backup a second internal hard drive or an external USB hard drive.

This suggestion may not work, but it's worth a try. Buy an external USB drive enclosure. They come in two sizes 2.5 "for the portable computer drives and 3.5" for desktop disks. You can purchase adapters for 3.5 "envelopes so that they can also be used with a portable player. Place the hard drive in the enclosure and connect to a USB port of another computer. Several hard disks are more able to start, but the contents of the disc can still be accessed, read and copied from the disk because you do not use the operating system on a failed disk.

Here is an example of the type of device, I suggest:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=external+hardrive+enclosure&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=14388537836&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=556960941559985931&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_32uorbwbuk_b

You need only to the speaker, that you see are not necessarily more expensive. Thereafter, you can put an old hard drive usable, an abandoned because you need a larger drive internal, in the enclosure and use it as additional external storage.

  • How can I move all win xp pro 64-bit programs old internal hard drive to hard drive internal nine win 7 pro 64 bit

I want to install a new internal hard drive of my computer, my old internal drive is running Win XP Pro 64 bit OS, the new drive will be Win 7 Pro.

Is there a method much less time to transfer programs from the old drive to the new?

I have both drives in the same machine to do the transfer. If you have a set of instructions please post them to send me the instructions.

    Thanks in advance

Sorry, but you can't do that.  When you move from one computer to another, you must reinstall all the programs.  This is because the parts of the program go to different places, and there are updates the registry involved as well.  There are also some activation to worry.  The last time, you can copy programs from one computer to another in the BACK long days long ago.

    Good luck.

  • My printer has an internal hard drive?

I think I can guess, but I need to be sure before disposing of my old printer:

My OfficeJet 635 has a hard drive inside that I have to wipe before you send it away?

(suggestion: this issue hit the heyday of media this last fall.) It is encouraging that HP has a section of significant support on their Web site that addresses this issue, but it's too complicated for the Home Office. I don't have any big assessment or security implementation tools; I just need to know if there is a hard drive in my printer. A simple list printers with the answer (yes/no) because everyone would be enough. ;-)

    Thanks in advance.

    Scott

There is no hard drive in your Officejet 635.  With probably a few thousand printer models, there would be no such thing as a 'simple' list, but the following can help:

    • HP Officejet and Deskjet printers: none have hard drives.  Some do have photo cards slots, make sure that there is no card in the slot before getting rid of the printer.
    • HP Photosmart printers: most / all models have slots for photo cards, make sure that there is no card in the slots.  The units of Office sizes have no hard drives.  Some of the small portable units (which print 4 "x 6" and 5 "x 7") have hard drives.  Examples: Photosmart 475.

The following are for the most part outside my area of expertise, while others may have more details:

    • HP Laserjet printers: some models have hard drives.  See the manual for more details.  I know the Laserjet, Laserjet + Laserjet II, Laserjet III, Laserjet 4, 4 M, 4L have no hard drives.
    • HP Designjet printers: some models have hard drives.  (I know the Designjet 430, 450, 650 c, 750 c have no hard drives).

  • Buy the new internal hard drive

    I have HP Pavilion dv4-1242TX

Recently, my original 320 GB (Western Digital Scorpio Blue - WD3200BPVT) internal hard drive crashed and become inadmissible.

So now I want to buy a new 500 GB internal hard drive, but I'm confused if my laptop it will support or not.

Internal hard drive WD Blue 500 GB laptop computer (WD5000BPVT / WD5000LPVX)

    MAIN FEATURES

Other than the size, I see no difference between the two discs.  Just having the Recovery DVD set available and install the new drive, run the set of recovery and off you go.  If the old drive is toast, there's nothing else to do than to run the updates from Microsoft.

Or install Windows 7, commercial version of your choice.

  • has had to replace the internal hard drive! need help!

Hi, laptop HP HDX - 1056CA

My internal hard drive is totally dead after 2 years (warranty expired), and I had to replace it. I dropped in the new hard drive. But I don't know what are my next steps

Do I really need to refer to the recovery discs - and they will work on a new hard drive? -I don't mind send away if that's what is needed, but I can't recover my old data, I hope that I can just download the drivers and leave with the machine... (also I go to work on Monday for 2 weeks at an oil rig, records will not be here in time and I won't be able to stay in touch with my friends and my family like the network is very limited as to what we can access if the computers in the Organization).

can I use my desk top of the page to download and burn the recovery discs? can someone link me to the right place (HP HDX16 - 1056CA).

My other question is that I have upgraded to windows 7 from Vista, when I ask to do recovery disks I have ask for the vista version and upgrade again (will be microsoft / the computer accepts the only time only upgrading key again?)  or should I go for the version of windows 7?  I need to re install the windows original vista and then switch again to win7, being that the computer has been configured for vista before the upgrade.

Thank you very much for any help or insight people can give me! I really appreciate it!

    Hi all

I had a BBQ and three guests oil and gas software and refused to feed them until thelaptop has been fixed.

They threw the XP disc across the room and were able to start the player directly at the exit of the disk upgrade of windows 7 using the Custom Installation option.

I'm afraid I can't give you more information, others that there is no need to first load the XP or the use of the USB box with the zip file in in order to recognize that the new installation drive.

Thanks everyone for all the help offered here here.

  • Printer Dell v 715 w have a hard drive?

I saw a report on CBS news that copiers have hard drives must be removed prior to disposal. Home printers that I also have hard drives? I replaced my printer soon. Thank you!

    phitauken,

Dell inkjet printers do NOT have a hard drive, so there is no worry about trying to remove it.

Most of the printers that have a hard drive are laser printers.

  • How can I move (not simply copy) folders/files to an internal hard drive to another hard drive internal?

I just finished the construction of a new office with 2 internal hard drives: a Crucial SSD of 128 MB and a 1 TB Samsung HDD. I loaded my programs commonly used on the SSD more fast and Windows 7 (64-bit) and to use a lot more big HARD drive to store data and programs less commonly used. I transferred all my data in my old desktop using Windows Easy Transfer, but it would only allow me to transfer data to my system drive / C: (SSD) boot. So now, I want to move my data files on my D: drive. Windows will allow me to move the folders and files on an external drive, but apparently only will allow me to copy on the D: drive. Which means I have to delete all the files copied from the C: drive to D:. This certainly isn't a huge problem, but I wonder if there is a way to just move all the files, rather than copy/delete. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

Why don't you just cut & paste?

Open Windows Explorer, select the files you want.  If you want to select all files in a given folder, press Ctrl + A (this will select all THE files & folders).

Press the ALT on your keyboard and you will see the Edit menu (see the screenshot below).

    Select "cut".

Now, go to your destination folder and press the ALT key again.  Click on the Edit menu.

    Select "Paste".

  • Cannot access the files from the internal hard drive that has been converted to drive external hard after the motherboard is dead

I can't access the files from an internal hard drive that has been converted to drive external hard after the motherboard is dead. I think that my files are still there, as shown in the volume of the player volume ~ 500 gb which is almost completely full. But I can't access most files, including documents and settings. When I took 'ownership' of the folder, I could open the TI but then it showed everything that was in my documents and settings on the computer file I used to open it, not the documents of the car.

Uhm... I think the issue here is a misunderstanding of what you watch.

If you want to access your files from the old hard drive - you need to look in the right place.  If the old system was "Windows 7", "Documents and Settings" is the * wrong * place to look and "Users" would be the place to go.

You * will * take ownership and change permissions on ALL (you want to propagate to all subfolders/files when do - to save time) in order to get them properly.

New-->: Windows Vista/7 would have your files located in the directory 'Users' of the root of the drive - and then under your username.

    • \USERS\\Desktop\
    • \USERS\\Downloads\
    • \USERS\\Favorites\
    • \USERS\\Documents\
    • \USERS\\Music\
    • \USERS\\Pictures\
    • \USERS\\Videos\

    ... etc...

Documents and settings to WIndows Vista/Windows 7 is a symbolic link and would lead to what you see if you tried to use it.

  • How the value catalog new internal hard drive more and then delete the files from the smallest

I just got a new 1 TB internal on cloned hard drive 500 GB internal hard drive installed on my PC, then the smaller original. The new 1 TB is now Local Dick C and the smallest 500 GB by C has been changed and is now Local Disk F. PSE11 runs from the new C and all my photos are on C and F, but the catalog showed up at F. I want to delete all the old files on F for free space because they are all cloned to the new 1 TB C, so I want to catalog PSE11 only point to the pictures on C I tried to create a new catalog and import my pictures from C. The images arrive and look tuned to C but when I close PSE11 and then reopen this new catalogue, the path of the image shows F, as does the original catalogue. So, now, I have two catalogs seem to point to F but I want: 1) have a single catalog pointing to C; (2) deleting catalogs pointing to F; (3) then reformat f: so I have a 500 GB clean old hard drive for future expansion. Peuvent some please help?

The problem is related to the cloning process.

As stated in the first post of Neale, the Organizer acknowledges readers by their letter AND their serial number. In these situations, both drives have the same serial number and the Organizer cannot tell who is who...

More information in the help file on John R Ellis from his psedbtool:

    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/#_Writing_File_Metadata

Scroll down to: "change the serial number of the drive, a Volume."

Check first with the DOS command 'Flight' that both disks have the same volume id, and then try to change one of the drives serial.
