vCenter 4.1/ESXi 4.1 material status "Communication error with the server.

I am slot that a brand new installation of vCenter with two new installs of ESXi 4.1 connected on it. I use on Dell PowerEdge 2950 s ESXi servers. I tired the customized version of Dell and vmware ESXi vanilla version. My host vCenter is Windows 2008 R2.

In vCenter, the two server ESXi, any version of ESXi, I run, I get "Communication error with the server" error when I click the tab hardware state. No data appears in the hardware status tab.

Only suggestion of Dell has been updated with firmware/BIOS on the server level. I did and it did not help.

Anyone has any suggestions or ideas what would cause this?

I had exactly the same problem what is to have everyone on this thread.  I finally called VMware support.  It is certainly a problem with Tomcat.  Apparently, during my initial installation of tomcat server vCenter (on a Win2k8R2 vanilla Server / unreleased) na not create a database file.  The vCenter Server uninstalled eventuall tech and went through the Setup again.  For some reason any Tomcat created db it's good the second time.  After installation, it takes about 5 minutes for the db should be created.

On Windows 2k8R2 it is located here: C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\tomcat\lib\xhiveConfig\data

The name of the comic is VcCache-by default-0. XhiveDatabase.DB

My server didn't have one at all.  The relocation has created, at the beginning it is 0KB in size.  After 5 minutes, it grows up to 25, 600KB.

Everything in my vCenter works now correctly.  I'm on 4.1.320137

I hope this helps.

  • "failure to communicate with the server" related to the vCenter mode

    Hello

I have two vCenter servers connected in bound Mode.

On both, I created the same files (via the computers view virtual and models) and the same permissions for the same ad groups.

When I connect with a user (belong to the relevant AD Group) for vCenter2, I can see the vCenter1 and vCenter2, with the respective folders.

However, when I connect to vCenter1 (with the same user), I get an error message:

"There are problems with contacting the following vCenter server:

"vCenter2: failure of authentication with the server.

And there's a message in red on the lower right: 'No 1 vCenter Server not connected.'

My DNS is set up perfectly. I can't do a ping on each vCenter server at once.

Someone has an idea of what could be the problem?

    Thank you

    Yaniv

We received the error message was "Failure to authenticate" and "vCenter server not connected" in the lower right corner of the client vSphere for all non-local Windows administrators.  After much research (VMware documentation bad lack), it was determined that one has been denied logon session on the server vCenter Server 4 Type as recorded in the security of the Windows operating system event log.  Connection type 4 is log on as a batch job.  After you apply this permission within the vCenter server's local security policy both (or all), non admin users were able to bind several instances within a single client vSphere vCenter Server successfully.

Again, this is something that should be held responsible for the VMware documentation.  The delegated admin model is not intended for all operators of vCenter working with local administrative privileges on the vCenter server.

  • Status.msi error with installation of the hp officejet 6500 E709n wireless

    It's frustrating.

I then get a third message that appears each time you start to the top of my computer hp laptop dv6871us: "Please wait while Windows configures the status.  And... It's constantly repeated ad nauseam.

How can I find the status.msi file and stop this endless loop of error messages?

    TX

Yes, it's very good information.  Thank you to be thorough to me.  I actually had this happen to me personally on my Windows XP and printer Photosmart older (different error message but even constant pop up).  I could easily (but a lot of time, I might add) fix my problem of:

    1. uninstall the printer from Add/Remove programs.

    2. run cleaning disc of all programs > Accessories > system tools > disk cleanup.

    3 restart the PC.

4 selection of a backup in CCleaner system option and then cleaning the registry using this tool. Click here and carefully read the reviews in CNET and opt to download the tool to see what I mean.

    5. restart the PC again.

    6. can download and install my printer on the site, but in your case, here are the drivers and the software feature full Officejet 6500 Wireless (the link is for the version of Windows 7 32-bit PC U.S.).

This can become very difficult at times, so I want to provide this very comprehensive document from HP which covers your exact error message and their favorite not to try.  Mine are a little easier but a 'tad - little' more risky because I provided a link to a specific 3rd registry part cleaner that you use at your discretion (there are others out there).  I like it because I can back up my system first in the case where that something else has been removed should not have been.  I don't have that happen, fortunately.  Please read this document as well just to be on the safe side.  I'm here to help (do not do worse) so let me know if I need to explain something better, but I think that you have everything you need here to start.

I would first check "request" from the view of the DBA_SNAPSHOTS/DBA_MVIEWS dictionary information, if it reveals something obvious.

But it looks more like an internal error when processing the update. You can get more information on the follow-up to the session error. "Alter session set sql_trace = true;" before running the update should be sufficient. Then unplug and check the trace file generated error using "tkprof" and check the output or by searching manually "err =" in the trace file.

I am a student from progressing to a VTC VCP5 Certification community college.  We use the VMware Network Netlab Academy facility. I have no access to the client based on Windows Vcenter.  I have only the client on the Vcenter web access.

Many many thanks Andre!  The work of Console launch.  After that I removed the entries in/etc/hosts localhost to the server vcenter-1, I brought successfully to the top of the console window.  Of course, I also had to add an entry for the host esxi-1 in each file/etc/hosts.

The console works great.  I was able to connect and send commands of Linux; However...

The only remaining question I have is that the console returns to Mode "full screen" by default and I can't seem to exit full screen mode.  It encloses the vclient overall utility.  Is it possible to tell the coming launch mode console non-plein default screen?  Y at - it a remote console setting that controls "Full Screen Mode".

  • VSphere Web client and client heavy cannot connect to Vcenter server 5.5, web client fails with 2032 error before the connection, then the work after one minutes ferw.

    Hi all

I really need help here.  I have a new installation of Esxi5.5 and installed the server vcenter build 5.5.0.5201 device 1476389.

I have host files properly configured for DNS and Server 2008 R2 running that I use to connect with the client or web client heavy.

Initially, I get an error with the web client to connect, he began to paint Vmware and when it comes to 'r' in the name it fails with #2032, so I can no longer

access the page at all, he says: connection refused for the page. If I wait a while I can connect again.

heavy client vSphere fails at this time as well.  However, I cannot communicate directly with Vsphere client to server esxi host and it works all the time.

There seems to be a problem with the device of vcenter server because the thick client fails, and does not open a backup program using vcenter server

    inventory when this happened.

Please help, it drives me crazy...

    Hello

Since I found the solution to the problem of connecting to the device of vcenter.  It is a conflict of IP address on the network.  There was a machine with the same IP address virtuall

as the vcenter server.  This caused intermittent problems etc.. Why web client would still work if I have the vmware client open I do not know

so thank you for your help.

  • Access error in the status of material on the hosts to vCenter

I have a virtual machine on one of my hosts, 64-bit Windows 2008 SP2, with of VMware vCenter Server installed on it. I connect to manage all my guests. I changed the NETBIOS name of the virtual from Windows machine to comply with the new standards of the convention of naming on our network, and now I have the following problem when you try to access the page of material status on my hosts. It works fine if I connect directly to the host, but no longer works via vCenter... Someone knows how to fix this? It must have something to do with the change of name, because it worked fine before the change.

  • How to get IP/MAC information of the governing body ILO as stated in the material status tab

    Hello

I know there are scripts of HP to collect information of the IPC/MAC (hpconfg get_network.xml) ILO Governing Council and then use VMware powercli IPMI script to feed DPM.

    as published on http://www.vpeeling.com/?tag=scripting

    Add-PSSnapin vmware. VimAutomation.core - ErrorAction SilentlyContinue

    $VMHosts = @(import-Csv "C:\scripts\host-info.csv")

    $IPMIUser = "dpmuser".
    $IPMIPass = "dpmpass".

    {foreach ($VMhost to $VMHosts)

    $esxMoRef = get-vmhost $VMHost.Hostname | % {Get-view $_.} ID}
    $IpmiInfo = new-Object Vmware.Vim.HostIpmiInfo

But, the question I got recently. How can get out us of this info via vCenter? The vClient has the named material status tab and we see this info.

    hw_status.PNG

Did anyone tried it this way?

PowerCLI or SDK (c#), his is not serious.

    Thanks in advance

    A.S.

You may have gotten a solution now...

In any case, I found this function (Get-VMHostWSManInstance) which works fine:

    http://blogs.VMware.com/vipowershell/2009/03/monitoring-ESX-hardware-with-PowerShell.html

The most difficult part is to identify the CIM class containing the BMC MAC/IP address (in my case I need just an IP address). After digging in this doc:

    http://www.VMware.com/support/developer/CIM-SDK/smash/U3/GA/apirefdoc/OMC_IPMIIPProtocolEndpoint.html

I had the chance to locate: OMC_IPMIIPProtocolEndpoint

    The Get-VMHostWSManInstance call:

    Get-VMHostWSManInstance - VMHost (get-vmhost 'vmhost1') - OMC_IPMIIPProtocolEndpoint - ignoreCertFailures of the class | Select IPv4Address, MACAddress

will give the address IP/MAC of BMC.

BTW, I'm using PowerCLI 5.0.1 on Windows 7, is the host ESX 4.x

Open ports between vCenter and ESXi 4.1 = tcp two-way 5989 (the port is also open between hop vSphere and vCenter)

    My problem:

When I click on the Hardware tab sometimes it displays information of sensors (of WORK) but sometimes shows service on that host to control the material not responding or is not available . I don't know why this is happening. I have over 80 ESXi hosts in this vCenter and 90% of them are in different countries (1 server in an office) and most of them have a problem with the Hardware tab. I'm sure it's based network because I have 10 knots and there is no problem because they are all in a datacenter.

Increase timeout for the ESXi host with vCenter data collection?

Any ideas that I can do about it or how to fix it later?

    Greetings

    V.Hristev

When it is connected directly the hardware data available in Configuration > hardware > State of health.

A disconnection / reconnection retains performance (so no, if you choose the option remove) data.  If you try a disconnect, I'd start with a single host not in a HA cluster.

  • Cannot add host ESXi 5.5 to vCenter for a routed network - cannot communicate with the specified host

I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem before, who could give advice how to fix them:

Host of pre-production UCS ESXi migration of a Production vCenter on another network (routing in place)

Can ping both directions successfully - from vCenter Prod to the host of the pre-production

    no firewall between the two.

902 port is open on the host

Host connects to the pre-production vCenter on the subnet even fine

VCenter production can add different hosts on the same network end

Even with the various guests of ESXi UCS.

ESXi host was completely disconnected and removed from vCenter inherited before attempting to add. No dvswitch physical or virtual.

Then try and add, enter the user name and password and get cannot communicate with the specified host.

    Thank you

The solution to this. Used ESX host 5.5 3B (3248547) update that disables SSLv3. (Ref: VMware ESXi 5.5 updated Notes version 3B) one of the consequences of this is that older versions of vCenter (such as trying to move the host) can not add/connect host.

Enable SSLv3 to spend (port 443) on the resolved host (virtuallyPeculiar: connection A ESXi 5.5 U3b host to vCenter with a lower Version A.)

    Hello

You can use VMware VDP to backup your device of vCenter. It is included in essentials, standard, enterprise, and enterprise as well as licenses.

I won't have backups of ESXi servers. Restore the backup would take more time that the deployment of a new ESXi.Only thing, you may want to consider is to enable logging remotely, so you can see why the hosts failed.

  • (Resolved) lost vCenter connections to ESXi in other subnet

Nice day. Faced with the following problem and I can not find a solution.

I have two subnets 192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.2.0/24. Subnets connected through VPN.
The first subnet a vCenter Server (192.168.1.10) and a computer with vSphere Client (192.168.1.11).
In the second subnet has ESXi (192.168.2.8) and a computer with vSphere Client (192.168.2.11).

The problem is this: after a random time vCenter Server will see more ESXi.

In a thorough investigation revealed the following distribution:
    (1) when the vCenter no longer see the ESXi, is not possible to ping from the OS Server ESXi. (Windows Server 2012).
    (2) computer with vSphere Client (192.168.1.11) continues to see ESXi, pings and can be connected directly to the ESXi.
    (a) If you don't touch anything, then after a while is more able to ping ESXi and this computer.
    (3) computer with vSphere Client (192.168.2.11) continues to see ESXi, pings and can be connected directly to the ESXi. No problem to connect from this workstation at any time.

After connecting directly to the ESXi, for example to change the IP address of 192.168.2.9, and then back to 192.168.2.8 - vCenter Server immediately starts see the ESXi (including pings).
First of all, I decided that the problem in ESXi firewall and turned off by this command 'esxcli network firewall set - fake license', but this does not solve the problem.

In any case, firewall turned off completely on the server vCenter Server just does not solve the problem.

    ESXi version: 5.1.0 1065491
    vCenter version: 5.1.0 1235232

In what may be a catch?

    Thank you for your help.

P.S. Sorry for my bad English

In general, after a few weeks of turmoil, experimentally is that the problem in the router. More precisely in the metrics of routes. The metric for the route to the subnet to subnet 2.0 1.0 has more default gateway metric. Therefore, when the VPN tunnel to the bottom of ESXi immediately heading for another router, without going through the fact that he needed to get directions in 1.0 and is then reached the border, packages out there is dead. Yes... Truth is somewhere near =)
