VCOPS and HP Openview

Hi all

I need to implement a solution to integrate HP Openview with VCOPS. I don't know anything about this card. Can someone help me with the documents, the link to download, etc.?

Thank you very much!!!

Matrix

You could make it work with SNMP traps... sending vC Ops to Openview. After you have installed the SNMP MIB on the side of Openview, it is more a matter of Openview.

SNMP is fairly well documented... There are no config for vSphere UI (/ admin) and another configuration for the user of Custom (outgoing Alert Manager) interface.

These docs are available from the virtual cockpit location pub Ops on VMW documentation standard.

  • A single vCops VAPP arrive at a cluster of Std vCops and a cluster of businesses vCops?

Looking to design a vSphere Management Cluster using vCloud Suite STD (Std vCops) and a Production Cluster using vCloud Suite Enterprise (vCops Ent).   If I connect the vCenter vCops that handles both of these licences of vCops, is vCops smart enough to allow the right license for each cluster based on how to assign the licenses?

The reason why I want to do it is because I don't want to lose vCloud Suite Ent licenses on a cluster of vSphere management, but still want vCops Std to manage the infrastructure of virtual machines in the cluster.

vCOps can use only 1 license key at the time, so it will only work in a single edition at some point.

If you want to have 2 different deployments under license, you will need 2 vCOps different deployments in the same vCenter. You will need 2 keys vCOps - 1 for vCOps STD and 1 for vCOps Ent. A unit of vCOps will have access to / collect resources for the MTS, the other for the resources of the NTS. License will be assigned to each appropriate vCOps deployment. You must have a device of vCOps (last registered member) configured as the extension in vCenter for the web client feature.

  • vCOps and vCenter Collection levels

How the collection-level, I have to configure in vCenter affect vCOps?  VCOps will retain the same amount of statistics and the granularity no matter what vCenter level collection with that Server is configured?

The collection in vCenter Server level has nothing to do with the vCOps and the data it collects. vCOps collects the most recent data of 12 points since the vCenter on objects - 20 sec intervals * 12 samples = 5 minutes - which fits in the window of statistics since 1 h perf in real time and is not affected by the accumulation of HR/day/week/month.

  • Adding 2nd vCenter to vCops and licenses?

I have vCops configured for our internal vCenter.  I want to add an instance of vCenter for the same TIME vCops and Rackspace.

I can just go to vcops/Admin, click new record, enter the information credenital and wait that will instantiate the new vCenter in vCops vCops?

Also, can I need separate license key that needs to be entered into the RackSpace vCenter, or that it will be able to use the licenses available from the internal vCenter (which has enough licenses for the two environments).

    Thank you

    -MattG

It could save the extra vCenter with the vC existing instance VAPP Ops.  The vCenter Server internal licenses apply.

According to your avg latency and bandwidth available to the instance of Rackspace and the number of virtual hosts, you may experience some problems.  In other words, if you have 100 guests and 1000 VMs so it could be a problem.  A much smaller (10 guests/100 VM) environment may work OK.

Maybe it's that you would like just to establish a circuit virtual instance Ops as vCenter and divide your license key.

It would be great if you shared your experience after setting this up.

    Hi all

I created a new account with the Admin UI. Everything seems OK, but I can only log the custom UI 'vcops' and not "vcops-vSphere." For the latter, however, only works the account administrator. Any suggestions?

  • configuration of vCOP and licensing NOOB question

    Friends,

I searched for a few loads solution / reporting for vSphere environment and after a few days with Veeam One

I downloaded vCOP test to see if it's something I need (apparently...)

Unfortunately I have not understande what wrong with my way of thinking... I see a license key on the evaluation of product mywmare page - but the auto-generated license key

vCOP in web view client is different. In Operations Manager, I see only three tabs: operations, environment and alerts... I see no reports etc...

In configuration I see service running, connected vcenter, the status of 'authorized' product

Where is the flaw? Versions? Is it necessary to change the license but how?

Please advice; I think that it is something so obvious that I can't find a solution online...

    Many thanks in advance,

    Hello

According to the Release Notes https://www.vmware.com/support/vcops/doc/vcops-581-vapp-release-notes.html vCOps

"All license management tasks are performed in the vSphere Client. You cannot assign licenses in vCenter operations Manager Administration Portal. Follow the instructions in the VMware vCenter Operations Manager deployment and Configuration Guide for license.

vCenter Operations Manager running in mode of foundation if no license key or an incompatible license key is applied. "Assign the license key for the edition you purchased."

  • Question on vCOPS and Exchange

    Hi guys.

I just read that vCops can follow MS Exchange DAG, with visibility of the app too, and I want to migrate from 5.6 to 5.8.

VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.8 announcement | VMware - VMware items Cloud management

The version of vCenter 5.8 operations includes increased support for Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange

    Question

If I want the vCops can see Exchange, it is necessary to have installed vfabric? I don't like vFabric :|

    Thank you.

The ability you are referring is the one offered by integration of Hyperic with vC Ops. Hyperic collects the necessary information of Exchange and SQL Server, which is then collected by vC Ops. vC Ops dashboards, which is presented in this article, you made reference, by virtue of having the Management Pack Hyperic installed and configured to collect data of Hyperic.

If you want your data in vC Ops of Exchange or SQL Server application, you must deploy vFabric Hyperic. You can also get these data in other products such as SCOM, however integration of 3rd party is not under discussion here. The emphasis on the article you mentioned was integrate Hyperic with vC Ops, since you get Hyperic and rights vC to the Ops product with the property of the CV Ops.

  • VCOps and adapter for NetApp

    Hello

He's trying to find out if the ad VCOps NetApp pater will allow me to see the use of storage capacity at the level of the layer of NetApp volume. We thin available warehouses of data and deduplication. We want transparency so that when a user provisions a number of virtual machines, they are to see levels and thin provisioning over the excess commitment to the NetApp volume/aggregate level and also showing the economies of deduplication. It would be great if VCops was able to provide this level of detail. Can any real on what is possible and what info world provide?

I didn't have time to implement tests in a laboratory yet if you'd be grateful if someone could help me understand what is possible.

    Thanks in advance.

If the counters are enabled on the DFM NetApp, vC Ops can and will pull capacity counters. Since we are talking about NetApp meter, he comes to know if NetApp offers these counters... no vC Ops. vC Ops will shoot if she is there and it has access to collect. You can limit the map collection by using groups of resources on the side of the DFM.

  • groups of vCOps and historical data

I create a group in the vSphere vCOps UI containing a number of virtual machines.

Once I created the group, I can start to see the metrics from the group.

However, it seems that when I view the settings for the group in the custom user interface, it is impossible to get all values from before the time that the Group has been created.

For example, I create the Group on Feb. 1.  Virtual machines have given individual and metrics for them individually since their creation a months ago on January 1.

However, when I create the group, it seems that vCOps fails to extract data before 1 February.

For example, I want to get application CPU MHz for the whole group of virtual machines.  Even if the data to calculate the Group exist if vCOps was to review the historical data of the individual VM, vCOps shows only data at the point when the Group was created and not before.

Is that a correct understanding of the limitation of the groups regarding the preparation of reports on historical data?

What you describe is how all the resources in vCOps behave with respect to the collection of data (these attributes or supermetrics). Metrics will begin to collect according to the assigned package attributes/supermetrics once the resource is created. Historical data prior to this existing/recovery resource is not available.

So I would call not this specific behavior of "groups" because that is how all resources behave with respect to the collection of data.

  • access vCOps and import users or groups from LDAP

    Hello guys,.

I have a few Questions concerning the access of standard and custom of the vcops dashboards.

Do we not have to provide access to all users and groups in vcenter as shown in image 1 to give access to these groups and users for standard and custom dashboards?

How does the Protocol LDAP works in custom dashboard? How the custom dashboard can authenticate users accessing personalized dashboards?

    Thank you

    VK

    Hi, VK,.

Access to vSphere UI is managed via vCenter credentials.  Users need the vCenter Operations Manager user permission to access the user interface of vSphere.

The custom user interface does not use the credentials of vCenter.  You can import the AD credentials via the LDAP protocol and set vC Ops to auto sync with your LDAP server.

  • vcops and chargeback

Hi, I installed vcops 5 enterprise (version VAPP)

I installed vCenter Chargeback 2.0 and connected to vcente

How can I see the reports of internal billing in vcops? What are the steps to set up vcops with chargeback?

    Thanks in advance,

    Leandro.

First, you must register vCOps vcenter and vcenter even must be added to the chargeback. Then you need create chargeback hierarchy by connecting chargeback UI and add all VC entities required to this hierarchy. Now you must go to 'Manage the hierarchy'--> 'tools' and select based on the political use of billing to set up dashboard reports. Once the dashboard reports are triggered it reqreuid reports will be posted under "Reports"--> "Dashboiard".
