  I'm about to start my recertification because I have time until March 10, 2015 for that.

  There is an option for the exam VCP510 or VCP550.

  Could someone tell me what is the best approach for this renewal of certification?

  If I take VCP510, I will be eligible for an additional upgrade directly to VCP6 when it's available, or I would need first put to VCP550 and then to VCP6?

  I would like to know how VMWare to approve my request for review with control of the pre - requisites.i past VCP510-VTC, will I get the certificate if I completed the required course [VMware vSphere: what's new [V5.x] training (two days, version with instructor)] or I have to retry the exam after completion of the training.   Can someone tell me please the differences between VCP5 and VCP5-VTC?

  Just bought the book of PCV and realized later that it is a newer version. But not sure about the differences. Am I really missed a lot of new book? I don't really want to buy the same book again if I do not need.

  I want to know is that VCP5-VTC is the effective replacement for VCP5?

  Yes... VMware has added VTC - just to differentiate different VCP tracks available as I told you on my previous post.

  So is VCP5-VTC identical VCP5 with new data center and 5.5 subjects?

  Yes, but 5.5 subjects is available only on the second edition of the book.

• I took an ICM4 course, I should get VCP4 first and then VCP5?

  I took ICM4 but do not yet have any VMware Certification and I am looking for it. Here are my questions:

  Should I get first VCP4 and then VCP5 or just forcus on VCP5?

  If I want to VCP5 without taken another course of ICM5, do I need to take the VCP4 exam as VCP5 before the end of February 2012 or I only need to get VCP4 before that date and I can take VCP5 review at any time thereafter?

  If I decide to go straight to the VCP5, shoud I'm just "what's new in vSphere 5 ' or 'ICM5' couse?

  IMHO: you can go to the VCP4 and before the end of February take also the consideration of the VCP5.

• ICM4 to VCP5

  I don't really understand the requirement of VCP5. I went to ICM4 and without passage VCP4, I went VCP5 29 Feb. Now I need to know in order to certify for VCP5 should I take VCP4 and transmitted (or) it is essential to take the "what's new at VSphere5. I'd rather take the VCP4 exam instead of taking what's new at VSphere5' class.

  Since you have already taken and successful examination of the VCP5, the course of "what's new" will be all the you have to do.  Once you complete the course you will be officially recognized as a VCP5 by VMware.

• VCP5 Store?

  Hi community VCP,.

  I recently received my certification VCP5 and I can't access the SECURE store to pick up everything cool swag. A few questions...

  1. is there a VCP5 store, or just the VCP4 store (or Collect store in general)?

  2. those of you who have access to the store, how long did it take to do? Do you have it at the same time as your welcome pack or did take a while?

  3 when I connect to the VCP portal, all I see are VCP4 Logos (including VCP5 logos) section and a link on the right to the VCP4 store. Is this normal, regarding what you should see in the portal? (For the record, by clicking the link VCP4 store gives me an invalid request and said that I do not have access.)

  You are missing much, there just 3 shirts in there (2 polo, 1 button upward) who say VCP4 on them.

• Renew expired certification

  So now that may 08 has passed and I'm guessing a lot of holders of VCP have expired certifications, what is the way to renew these?

  Looking at the certification VCP5-VTC page, is unclear:

  Track 1: It all started with Data Center Technologies

  Nope, already had a VCP4/5.

  Track 2: If you have a valid secure Channel certification.

  No, it has expired, so not valid (I guess?). This seems more destined to the update of VCP4 anyway.

  Track 3: you have completed a 5 day course that qualifies for the VCP4-VTC Certification, but has failed to meet the DCV VCP4 exam.

  Yet once more to hold VCP4, but again not relevant to someone who had a VCP valid

  Track 4: If you are a current VTC VCP5 who took the exams VCP510 and must now obtain a new certification.

  I guess that's the closest, so until September 30, we can make the delta review to validate our current expired certificates?

  Without doubt, if we wanted to get VCP6 then we would either need make what's new course, or have a valid VCP5 and review of VCP6 (currently in beta, but I guess there will be overlap normal ~ 6 months without requirement of course)

  Expiration of your certification, you must meet the requirements of training and pass a test.  Training requirements for the VCP550 include vSphere 4 CIM + what's new 5.5.

  I currently have the certification VCP 4.1 VTC and I know it will expire after May 8.

  As far as I understand, for a new certification, I need to pass (for example) VCP550 review and take official courses 2 days what is mew [V4. V5.5 X].

  My understanding is correct? If so, is it possible to take courses after this deadlie - may 8, with VCP exam before this date? It's nice a critique for me there is no [what's new] course available in my city before May 8.

  So, you have right to VCP4-VTC? (there is no secure Channel 4.1)

  You can get a new certification in many different ways, but it looks like you want to take VCP550 which will give you VCP5-VTC as well as quite a bit of your VTC VCP4.

  All you have to do before the expiration date is VCP550 (or VCP510), without training.

• Expiry of the VCP. I'll just let it expire. It seems unprofessional to change a clause or condition to halfway and rather misleading too.

  I passed my VCP 510 in November 2012, and the reason why I took this certification was due to the fact that it does not expire. They just took things into their own hands and changed the expiration of 2 years which is rather short and lack of professionalism in my own opinion.

  CompTIA changed their expiration of certification for 3 years in 2011 and it is only for those who have passed the exams after the announcement. Those who are certified before the date of publication are not affected. They wanted to run the existing decision all professionals certified during the ads but returned the rules after having too complains and risking a lawsuit against them.

  Well, I'm not the trouble to complain, but I'll just let it expire and boycott other courses with vmware education. Who knows if they don't change the expiry for 1 year at a later date. If I'm being certified to repair the vtec honda engines, means that I am able to repair the current version of vtec engines. Unless technology changes the future of design that makes my skills obsolete. But I'm always skilful to repair engines designed at the time where I spent my certification.

  I will be happy if they let time do rather than expiring certificates expires it based on the date that you have been certified. Many companies still use exsi 5.1 in 2015, which is at the end of my certificate. I don't see the need to re-certify myself managed the same version of virtualization technology which I am currently using for reasons to do so. Unless companies are crossing to exsi 6, 7 that make version 5 is out of date. Candidates have no choice but to the recertified because their certificates are no longer relevant in the market.

  I will try to discourage my friends to take this certification because of the way it works in VMware. Of dragonic and lack of integrity. The candidates don't mind if they are made known it beforehand and not to change the rules as it goes along. It seems very unfair to those who have been certified before the announcement.

  Finally someone who is on the same page as myself.  I've been struggling with this problem as well.  I contacted their Dept. support education three times clarification, explaining why the situation is unprofessional, etc..  Their response is that I can take the consideration of VCP550 for the VCP5 cert I already have? (Thanks for that) OR I can get certified in one of their other products (Great I can become one of these certificates only paper that I do not use other products)

  To add insult to injury, those of us who have jumped on the VCP5 early are penalized more than those who have recently received their VCP!  We have until March 2015 to renew, whereas if I had stalled until March 2015 I two years!  Not to mention, it is not yet a VCP version to move up yet!  Great, so if I had not been a start VCP5 I would probably have the ability to get a VCP6, but I will not have this option unless I re - certify as a VCP5 by an arbitrary date?  WTF?

  Seriously?

  I still have to decide if I will re - certify passing the exam that I already have.  BUT I assure you I will keep the VCP4 and the VCP5 on my RESUME, and if the new employer checks, I'll show them with pleasure the hard-earned certs that I framed on my wall.

  I see more and more hyper-v in the SMB, I guess I can get well in this movement.

  I have a 3.5 VCP currently Cert and you want to update. I've seen the new features of Vsphere 5.0 available. didn't know if she was still valid as a way to upgrade to 3.5 guys.

  I have not heard of end date for the VCP 4 certification again.

  So what you can do is to take the "What's New" mandatory course [V4] and review for VCP4. -When VCP5 is available - follow the way explained on the website of VMware VCP.

  I think that is not wrong in saying that there is no 'upgrade' path as there is none which is new class to see (as it is for vSphere and certification of VTC)

  If I were you, I'd go for VCP6-VTC - you'll need to take a course of vSphere 6 and will find these abundant provide already - by the time you're ready final exams (2V0-620 and 621 - 2V0) must be released.

  I guess you're new to VMware/certification exams. You have a choice of 2 exams which you can take - VCP510 is based on vSphere 5.0/5.1, and VCP550 is based on vSphere 5.5.
