Version 14.0.1 won't save tabs on exit.

All HELP articles I've found are for version 4 - I version 14. One thing you can do is put the most recent problems first, NOT the problems of there are 10 versions.

I want the default to be ALWAYS SAVE TABS ON EXIT. This sale option, an easy place to find, like the TOOLS / OPTIONS / TABS section. It seems that this has been an ongoing problem for several versions of FIREFOX. I had it available in earlier versions, but it isn't here now. Why would you take it?

Nothing has changed in this area of Firefox 4, so if you have found solutions for older versions you should check out them.

In any case it seems that you want your old tabs restored, without any indication, and it is more likely that you have changed your option, if you think that it comes to be modified in version 14. Response of Verdi, specifically you want to 'show my windows and tabs from last time' where you set your homepage options, see

http://support.Mozilla.org/KB/restore-previous-session#w_configuring-session-restore

For others who want maybe more subtler options, see

My FF was just updated today to 18.0.1 self and now when I close FF it does not save my tabs. I've always had "When FF starts" the value "show my windows and tabs from last time.

I saw a 14.0.1 earlier problem that said delete sessionstore.js but when my FF is closed there is no sessionstore file in the folder of my FF profile. What is the problem? That does so I have a file sessionstore in fixing sessions?

    Thank you.

You can try to rename or delete the file prefs.js and possible prefs - numbered # .js and a user.js file possible to restore the values all default prefs.

You can create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

  • Cannot save tabs on exit

I just upgraded to Firefox 4.0 on the PC under Windows XP and lost the ability to save to the output of the navigation tabs.

I looked at the troubleshooting information in Firefox Support and tried to implement without success. sessionstore.js did not have the js extension. I added the extension, but I still have not a dialog box asking whether to save the tabs.

I do a lot of research and writing, so it's an important feature for me.

One of the changes in Firefox 4: by default Firefox 4 does not display the warning "Save tabs and exit" then to the closure of several tabs, but it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.

    • Record of the tabs was not removed from Firefox 4, but it works a little differently.

      • By default, Firefox 4 will not ask to save tabs, but instead it will always save your tabs in the output. You can restore the next time by selecting "Restore previous Session" in the history menu, or by pressing the button restore Firefox's default homepage.

Also, make sure that you erase not the 'browsing history' when you use clear recent history:

To display the message "save tabs and exit" when closing multiple tabs, you can do the following:

    1. Type of topic: config in the URL/address bar and press the Enter key
    2. Accept the warning message (promise to be careful)
    3. Open the preferences/list page
    4. Filter = browser.tabs.warnOnClose
    5. If its value is set to false, double-click top (in the lower panel) to toggle its value to true
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the 3 following preferences also:

  • FF4b10 don't ask to save tabs on exit more

Since the update of FF4b9 beta10 FF do not ask more to save tabs open to the output. Simply, it closes at the same time and does not restore my tabs at the next startup. Is there a change in behavior or adjustment, which has changed its default value or is it just a bug in beta10? All versions of FF4 to Beta9 has worked well.

Warning message preferences have been set to false by default in current versions of Firefox 4 beta. (Change of silly IMO.)

You can set the preferences of warning on the subject: config page to true via the context menu or toggle with a double click of the left.

  • Save tabs on exit

I followed the instructions to rename files in the folder of Firefox and tried to solve my some add-ons.
Since the upgrade to v4 I wonder is whether I want to save tabs.
    Please advise...
    Thank you

    • Tools > Options > tabs: check "warn when closing multiple tabs".
    • Tools > Options > general > startup: select 'open my home page '.
    • Type of topic: config in the address bar, hit enter, filter by browser.showQuitWarning, set it to the value True.

Please let us know if that fixes the problem.

  • How to restore the ability to choose whether to save tabs on exit (I need this abandoned feature.

On my laptop, I no longer get a choice, the closing of Firefox, if to save the tabs for the next time that I open Firefox.

I use 4 different computers. It is impossible to remember the computer on which I want to restore a previous session, then the choice of restoration when I start any computer is available doesn't help, compared to the old system, which allowed me to choose to exit, when I could clearly see if I had a session that was to be preserved.

The intention was that you should / could use history ('Alt + S') > restore previous session after bringing to the top of Firefox.

But this means that you must remember to do.

You can still have the old behavior and regardless of how you answer at the end of the session, you can still get back your previous session.

See step # 31 tabs of a session restore lost (#tabslost) in the following article:

You can make Firefox 4.0.1 resemble Firefox 3.6.17, paragraphs numbered 1 to 10 in the next topic difficulty Firefox 4.0 UI toolbar, problems (make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)

  • Firefox don't ask to save tabs on exit and display them when restarting.

Close a FF4 session with several tabs, don't ask me to save the tabs and so they do not show again on restart.

    In Tools-Options-Privacy, I unchecked
    Remember my browsing history
    Clear history of Firefox closing

The other options are checked there.

    I checked in Tools-Options-Tabs
Warn me when closing multiple tabs.

My settings are incorrect? Basically I want the tabs open forthcoming session to another, but I don't want any other history to keep.

A Firefox 4 is from Firefox showing the default warning message will stop, but it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.

    2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    3. Find browser.tabs.warnOnClosepreference, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
    4. Repeat this step for these 2 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart
    5. From beta 12 there will be an additional preference that must be set to true - browser.showQuitWarning
  • In the new Firefox 4, what happned to the Save tabs and functionality of quitting smoking, is there a way I can still use this feature?

I just downloaded Firefox 4 and I got a problem on my Norton spyware toolbar is not incompatible, but anyway, the most important thing that makes me choose Firefox on any other web browser is that I am able to save tabs and then exit. I think it was more great things because I could run my laptop off and save energy and when I got home I'm cold to take back what I what to do. My question is simply is you never have it save tabs and leave the new service or at least a way people would turn the function on will.

One of the changes in Firefox 4: by default Firefox 4 does not display the warning "Save tabs and exit" then to the closure of several tabs, but it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.

    • Record of the tabs was not removed from Firefox 4, but it works a little differently.
    • By default, Firefox 4 will not ask to save tabs, but instead it will always save your tabs on the output unless you're in private browsing mode. You can restore the next time by:
      1. by clicking on the Firefox button > history > "restore previous Session ', or

    Things to check:

    2. Also, make sure that you do not erase "Browsing history" when you use clear recent history or when Firefox is closed
      • Using clear recent history

        • Button Firefox: Firefox button > history > clear recent history
        • Menu bar: Tools > clear recent history
      • When Firefox is closed
    3. Make sure that you are not in private browsing mode or in private browsing mode permanent:
    4. If you have the Tab Mix Plusextension, and then clear the built-in session restore.

To display the message "save tabs and exit" when closing multiple tabs, you can do the following:

Yes, Firefox 4 will now always save your tabs, and you can restore the next time by selecting "Restore previous Session" in the history menu, or press the big restore button on the default Firefox homepage.

The problems are gone now. However, I'll never know exactly what that caused them. When I restarted the computer in safe mode problems continue. But when I tried to restart my computer does not recognize the hard drive in safe mode or in normal mode.

It is possible that the Firefox problems were caused by a faulty hard drive.

I was able to rebuild the directory with Disk Warrior and transfer my files, but the disk would not boot. Fortunately, I had a spare hard drive. I installed and reloaded all my software and data from scratch. I also downloaded the latest version of Firefox. Firefox works fine now.

Thanks for all your suggestions. They may not have fixed this particular problem, but I learned a few new tricks from you to solve other problems.

Firefox 4.0 automatically saves your session when you close Firefox. To "restore" your previous session using Previous Session restoration on the default on: Home home page or story > restore previous Session.

Why is the box to remember password is gray? It used to work now it won't save them.

This could be because you have set Firefox not remember the history. Who did you intentionally? It is defined in the Options dialog box:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

Maybe it would work if you choose "Use the custom settings for history" and not to turn off specific things that you want to disable.
