Version of LabVIEW for built executables?

Is it possible to query a LabVIEW executable to determine the version of LabVIEW, it was coded in?  I need to tell my Department of production what Run-Time Engine to install to use some old EXEs of LabVIEW.

Thank you!

You can just run the application on a computer that is not any LabVIEW software installed. You will get a dialog box that tells you what version you need.

  • Version of LabVIEW for Vision Builder AI 2012 plugins

    Hi all

II was a little challenging to find out what version of LabVIEW has been necessary to develop customized Vision Builder AI 2012 plugins, I found it by starting the installer, LabVIEW 2011 (but I wish I could find this information in the Readme of Vision Builder AI 2012).

Now my question is: is it possible to use LabVIEW 2011 SP1 to develop plugins for Vision Builder AI 2012?

Right... I tried, I installed all versions VBAI and LabVIEW, I could.

I turns out LV 2011 sp1 is just an update of 2011 and so LV2011 SP1 can be used to develop customized Vision Builder AI 2012 plugins.

If you have LabVIEW professional or higher, you must use the application generator. All your clients needs is the LabVIEW run-time engine for free. If you have MSDS LabVIEW, you can buy the application builder separately.

You can use the method to get the VI Version of the Application class to get the registered version of a VI file on the disk, without loading the VI in the memory.

  • File invalid object in directory cintools for LabVIEW for MacOSX?

I downloaded the evaluation version of LabVIEW for Mac OSX and I try to use it to compile a shared library of framework that also call functions of Manager of LabVIEW.

The trial download claims to be LabVIEW 2014 32 Bit and I have set up a project framework in Xcode that should lead to a framework for the i386 architecture. But when I try to make a link to the file lvexporst.a in the directory cintools/Mac-O, Xcode complains that the Archives of the object are not in the necessary architecture (i386). By looking at the file lvexports.a with 'otool - vt "shows various objects in there files with x 64 in the framework of the name!

If LabVIEW 32-bit for Mac OS x is available with the 64-bit versions of these object files?

This has been reported and confirmed as a bug in LabVIEW 2014 SP1 for Mac.

Intermediate solution is to use the LabVIEW 2014 file or erlier that is a bit FAT and takes care of both architectures.

  • small runtime for more recent versions of labview?

A few times in the past, I created simple LabVIEW autonomous executibles.  I did this in 8.6 and used minimum duration Engine Setup instead of the full version.  This resulted in a size of 30-35 Meg installation package.

Agin need to create a simple executable, but have not seen a minimum setup for any version of LabVIEW 8.6

Are there minimum runtimes for other versions?

The runtime default 2014 is Meg 264!  It is difficult to explain to a client why a simple "Hello World" program requires a 200 Meg download.

  • How to install the spectral measures and Modulation for several versions of Labview Toolkits

    Hello dear,
This is a known issue. You can read in the readme of the modulation toolkit:

    Two Versions of LabVIEW installed
The installer supports the installation of the Modulation Toolkit into one
version of LabVIEW; installation of the tool in several separate
facilities (e.g. LabVIEW 7.0 and 7.1 installed LabVIEW LabVIEW
on the same PC or in separate directories) is not supported or recommended.
A way not supported to do but involves manually copying files from
one LabVIEW installation to another. To do this, you can install the
Modulation Toolkit to the base of a LabVIEW installation directory, and
then manually copy the files installed in the other installation of LabVIEW.
The following list includes files and relevant directories. Copy all the files
These directories, including subdirectories, using the equivalent
paths related to the House LabVIEW directory for the target.

    \vi.lib\AddOns\Modulation\*.*
    \vi.lib\AddOns\NISML\*.*
    \examples\Modulation\*.*
    \resource\objmgr\NIMTAttribs.RC
    \resource\objmgr\NIMTAttribs.RCH
    \help\lvmod.txt
    \help\lvmod.chm
    \help\lvdmt.txt
    \help\lvdmt.chm

Note that this list does not include installed files. Also, copy
the files in this way is not equivalent to a complete installation in the
another version of LabVIEW. Especially own error text to the
Modulation Toolkit will not be updated and the example Finder ads will be
    the examples of Modulation Toolkit.

There is a version of the separate Runtime for each version of LabVIEW.  You can open NI MAX and develop software to see what is installed on your computer.

Is this only for the visualization of the screws built in developer version LabVIEW?

Without the development environment, you cannot change screws LabVIEW.  The runtime engine is responsible for actually running the code in order to integrate LabVIEW executables and run them on other machines without the development environment.

Can't we develop or modify TENS of LabVIEW version screws?

    NO.

  • "VI a error 1002288.The full version of LabVIEW Development is necessary to correct the errors."

    Hello

I had created an executable in LabVIEW 8.6 on a PC windows XP 32-bit. The application uses some screws of Vision. The executable is running in most of the PC except one. the PC is a windows 7 64 bit. I first got the error "Labview support 3 error code: could not load front". "" I fixed this by changing the settings of the source file in the application builder. Now I get the error message "VI a error 1002288.The full version of LabVIEW Development is necessary to correct the errors"and the exe displays a run button broken.»

But if I build the exe in the same PC I get no error and it works very well. Moreover, I tested this exe in another PC with the same configuration, it works. I tried to reinstall labview in the PC, the problem persists.

    Hi Nitrox,

There is no official adapter for LabVIEW 8.6 in Windows 7. See link below.

Upgrade to SP1 LV2009 should solve your problem. We had this problem with another client and update SP1 LV2009 solved his problem and should solve your problem too. If you have a problem after the update let me know.

  • Availability of older versions of LabVIEW

Hello, I am looking for a download (or other ways to get it) of LabVIEW 8.5.1. We had to upgrade a computer running 8.5.1, but the installation disc could not be found. We have S/N. While we have the licenses to the new version of LabVIEW, I prefer to install 8.5.1 because we execute former LabVIEW code developed by GE and they don't take care of their code on the original version of LabVIEW. Thank you!

I found the download here: http://www.ni.com/download/labview-development-system-8.5.1/3529/en/

I did search for "Download LabVIEW 8.5" from the home page of NOR.  It was the second link.

  • VI force to open a compiled version of LabVIEW (not the latest version)

I have a programming computer that has multiple versions of LabVIEW installed.  Once I finish a program, I propose the computer program 'target' (or touch screen) who have installed one version.

The problem I have is when I run a VI, VI still load the version of LabVIEW that was used last.  When the VI is saved, it compiles to this version and will no longer work on the computer "target".

It seems that save for a previous version of LabVIEW still does not work (she can relate to moving from Win 7 to Win XP).

Is there a way to force the VI to open the version of LabVIEW that the VI has been compiled with?

    Metzler says:

The problem still exists if you do not know the LV version running the computer "target".

Your goals should not actually be running LabVIEW.  They should run an executable that you generate (preferably with an Installer).  It would then become less of a problem and you have the advantage of not to need LabVIEW licenses for all your target computers (runtime is free to distribute).

  • Using variables shared between the different versions of labview

    Hello

I look at the use of variables shared between two different versions of LabVIEW. We have a 2 of the PXI system and a single PC. We are currently updating the code on the PXI system to 2014, but the PC still work 8.2.1. We now need a map of ARINC-429, which is executed only 2009 +, that is why we are to day. First tests show that shared variables do not communicate between the two. I think that the reason may be that the PXI running the version of variable motor 2014 shared, while the PC is running 8.2.1, but I don't know if it is precisely for this reason it does not work. Is there a way to communicate between two different versions of LabVIEW with shared Variables?

    Thank you!

    SOLUTION

There are two key elements in the process of installing software that are essential for PXI to communicate with another version of LabVIEW: Legacy Server Support Variable and Variable Support of Legacy Protocol. The first, in charge of the Protocol, was automatically installed through the selection of the other ingredients (although I do not know which triggered its installation). The second has been nested in the Protocol, but was not selected automatically.

The Protocol allows the PXI 2014 connect to shared variables hosted by devices 8.6 or an earlier versions, while the server allows before 2009 devices to communicate to shared variables hosted on PXI of 2014 (which was the initial problem)!
