VFoglight agent.

Is there an agent that must be installed in the control of the physical host.

Yes. You will need to download and install the cartridge of physical surveillance (operating system (OS) of download.vizioncore.com. You will need to install a good OS or cartridges for your physical host OS, install the Manager of the correct agent on host and deploy create agent as described in the Setup Guide for this cartridge. vizioncore.com/.../vFoglight_OSCartidge_Install.pdf

    Hi JLAPRADE,

I read a similar case, it seems that the problem could be solved either:

    1) that allows SSLv2Hello to vCenter, or

    (2) upgrade to the latest Foglight/Agent managers to the latest version.

    Regarding the #1 option:

Client configuration file updated the vpxd.cfg in vCenter. It's the line that needs to be changed:

    TLSv1

To add the SSLv2Hello Protocol, the client he added after a comma:

    TLSv1, SSLv2Hello

This solves the problem for this client, but you can check with VMware.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions or if you have problems, their implementation, please open a request of Service (SR) with the support and mention this thread.

  • Best practices of supervision between vFoglight BMC EWC versus VMware

IF someone has a good practice of monitoring collection they use for their VMware environment? There are more than 50 rules to select using the cartridge or a VMARE agent.

I was wondering if someone has combined with a tracking profile that does not have so many alerts, theybecome white noise. Them is a BMC here footprint and being invited to assess

the ability for the BMC COFFEE optimization tool. It seems some metrics collection tools and also well track overlap. I was wondering if anyone has used this tool to be in conjunction with vfoglight, or by itself.

The general way I tend to look at alerts is first turn.  Then turn on only the bits that make sense.  In general, I want to know about the problems of VM, CPU/memory/running out of disk space (like the growth rate compared to fixed thresholds); The ESX host fall / maintenance mode/dead, running out of space data warehouses; Clusters running space and that's it.  Ultimately, this is about ten rules.  Even in this case I'm going to tailer them slightly by the environment, but it is difficult to find a perfect mix that works OOTB for each.  Usually, I'll spend an hour or two to install and then twist after a month or two of tweaking their.

At the end of the day, a lot of rules will not apply to everyone, but it is better do to turn vs you have to start from scratch IMO.

  • Performance indicators not available on a new Installation of vFoglight 6.8 (5.6.7)

    Hi all!

I just installed vFoglight 6.8 (Foglight 5.6.7) on RHEL 6.4 that uses an external database on MS SQL.

He has worked for 24 hours.

I'm not able to view access or report on measures of performance on any one of the CV, DataCentres, ESX, banks of data or VM host.

All the vCentres and items such as the names of the hosts, vms and datatores are visible and show if fed the pages of summary on or outside and there.

and all of the alerts in the scope of her show too?

Just no Performance Metrics (CPU, disk, Mem, and network).

I did install a fix for the VMWare-Performance 5.6.7.1 cartride and update the agents as well as updating the FGLAM to 5.6.7.2.

Always the same problem after these checks:

    Database access is correct

    No firewall.

    vCenter administrator access

Starts the service and the server after each change

No error detected on the Agent log and no alert agent / errors on the FMS for the agent or the FMS itself.

    Virtual Server installation details:

    RHEL 6.4

    16 GB memory

    4 vcpu

    1 gb card NETWORK

Java mem: (to the first default)-now Xms8192m and Xmx8192m

MS SQL DB space available 8 GB to 10 GB (will increase when necessary)

  • Creating multiple agents OS guests

  • Foglight for vFoglight

Can someone explain to me what looks like a transition from Foglight to vFoglight?  Is this documented somewhere. Is this a new install, or we will be abel to keep existing history, etc...

The past several versions of vFoglight are actually identical to Foglight + vFoglight cartridge.  Install the cartridge on the current version of Foglight vFoglight offers similar functionality to the installation of pre-packaged vFoglight.

There should be no effect on the existing data collected from things like servers, databases, etc.

Note that the cartridge vFoglight requires a separate license, is not surprising, and you should always consider your existing FMS capacity before adding further data collection process.

The installation process is to obtain a license key, download of the cartridge on the support site and download it in your FMS.  Perhaps takes 10 min to be ready to connect to Virtual Center and begin collecting data.

Note that, vFoglight brings together a lot of information.  Depending on the number and the size of your virtual centres, you could consider the deployment of 1 or several additional VMs of FGLAM just for the collection of data in Virtual Center.  Put the FGLAM on the Virtual Center Server directly is possible, but not best practices.

In addition, you should review the configuration of the agent for any VMs who will now be collected through vFoglight cartridge and turn off CPU/memory/Network Infrastructure data collection as both cartridges could fill the same properties on host objects unnecessarily.

Finally, you don't want to use the VMware-> VMware environment-> Administration tab for the deployment of new agents, which gives you the opportunity to collect up to 30 days of history existing Virtual Center when new agents are deployed, an option that is not available through the Administration-> Agents-> Agent status screen.  Once the story has been collected, then agents can be administered through the screen of the status of the Agent as other officers.

  • vFoglight 6.6 installation collector

    Hello

I installed vFoglight Pro 6.6 but therefore, to install the guide should be a point with "select Yes to install the collector and the connector. I tried the standard and custom installation and there is no option to select.

How do we install the collector and the connector? and can I install it on the server of vfoglight or it must be on vCenter?

Make sure you look at the documentation on the right.

    http://eDOCS.quest.com/vFoglight/66/index.php

We have gone from agent collector/connector to an installation of the agent based Foglight-Agent-Manager (FGLAM).

Version 6.6 has yet collector/connector (called legacy agent) but with version 6.6 you should check the post installation document http://edocs.quest.com/vfoglight/66/files/vFoglight-6_6-post-install-procedure.html and configure with the option allows to add/create the agent on the Foglight Agent managers.

Depending on your environment, you may be able to run the agent on the Foglight Server component, you can also run it on a separate machine (or a virtual machine).

If for a specific reason, you will need to run the agent of the inheritance, you can watch the process of installation here

  • process control of a host linux in vFoglight

    Hello:
I am currently able to monitor the process for my Windows VMS by following these steps:
    VmExplorer open
    Expand virtual machines under topology
Click the virtual machine, and then click the process tab
Click the Configuration Wizard to host and run the wizard enter the administrator username and password and you sure
Windows is the chosen operating system and ensure the collection of processes enable for this host is checked. Click Next. Make sure that WMI is checked.
And then you click on finish. In about 15 minutes, I am able to see the processes running on the computer, etc.. I don't need to install a
    Foglight agent components.

Now when I try and do the same thing with a linux host, that I'm not always able to see one of the running processes. To the linux host I follow these steps:
    VmExplorer open
    Expand virtual machines under topology
Click the virtual machine, and then click the process tab
Click the Configuration Wizard to host and run the wizard by entering in the root username and password and you sure
Linux is the chosen operating system and ensure the collection of processes enable for this host is checked. Click Next. Make sure that the
SSH port is set to 22. Click Next. And then you click on finish. After waiting for a long time, nothing never appears. I am able to ssh to this virtual machine
    of all over my network.

So, it is possible to monitor the process in a Linux VM (without having to install an agent) as I can monitor a Windows VM?

  • View the contents of the table on Custom Agent

    Hello

I would like to create a dashboard with a table showing the ten entries with free low % of a custom agent that I wrote.

The agent is when extracting data on data warehouses and each data storage capacity, % free and used. (this is temporary until we get approval from vFoglight)

From what I see the agent is storing data as below

    • Agent_Name

      • tables
      • datastore_name
        • capacity
        • % free
        • used

Is it possible to get a picture to view it as the below?

Name of the data store % Free Used
    Datastore_3 10% 1.2 to
    Datastore_1 30% 800 GB
    Datastore_5 50% 500 GB
    ....

Using WCF, it would be possible.  It is based on the normal approach of Foglight.

    • Find data
    • Enter the data in the structure you need
      • generally via a query or function
    • Send the result to a view in the context
    • Test it

You can query against the Agent_Name/Tables level, to get you your ranks

then use functions to dynamically create columns in the query result rows row
