I get a response message saying 'your version of the video/DVD Toshiba drive is not compatible with this version of Windows' turn Windows 8 Pro and downloaded the appropriate software on the site of Toshiba for Windows 7 x 64 and ran the software to reinstall the program.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

  • Satellite A500 - video/dvd player is not compatible with Windows 10

After having recently updated of my laptop for windows 10 I discovered that the dvd player does not work. A message is displayed informing that the player is not compatible with this version of windows. A scan using Norton suggests dvd will not work because it needs to be configured.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Obviously, Toshiba DVD playback application that is preinstalled on this Satellite A500 model is not compatible with the system Windows 10.

In this case this software will not properly work after the upgrade to win 10 and I guess you have to remove the system Win 10.

Unfortunately, the Satellite A500 is not listed as Win 10 portable computers and so I don't think you will get an update to this software for DVD playback.

  • DVD Player Toshiba laptop not recognizing discs

My DVD player portable Toshiba Satellite M300 no longer recognizes discs.  When a disc is inserted, the player turns on but does not recognize that a disk has been inserted.  I have read that it is a problem with the installation of the Vista SP2 but unable to find a solution.  Can anyone help?

It is unlikely to be caused by the software (Windows), but is much more likely to be an optical drive down (hardware). Try to start with a bootable CD/DVD, your installation of Vista/recovery DVD for example (do not run recovery!) or a Linux Live CD. If the reader does not recognize the drive outside of Windows you will know for sure that the material is bad. Contact Toshiba technical support for replacement in this case. • video DVD player does not

my dvd drive is not reading or writing

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.
