  got my year NI Installation package these days and installed the SW of my Ds2 Test Edn DevSuite.

  This installed LabVIEW and Teststand and some tools from 2012. After Newstat updated NOR verified Service updates and now wants to download 12.5 GB of data, among is > 550MO patches, etc.

  JUST AFTER INSTALLING FRESH SOURCE DVD?

  For all the drivers, I'll try to install it from the DVD driver first and rerun the Update Service.

  IN ANY CASE: these amounts of downloads will be blocked even a DSL line for days, don't ask for having to run my PC all night in this period as well!

  Automatic updates show kb2686827 updated, but when I connect to the Microsoft Update Web site this update was not available. So I downloaded the update form Microsoft Download Center and installed, but it is still showing in the automatic updates of Windows. Should I worry that this update is still on display in the automatic updates for Windows XP? Is it possible to verift the update I downloaded has been installed properly?

  Why do you recommend not not to install the optional software updates?

  In fact, there are two 2 types of optional software updates available - but neither is related to security:

  1. a type covers relatively minor bugs/quirks in, for example, Windows, Office & obscure things such as SQL Server. If you're having any problems (or if you do not use the feature being fixed), why install it?

  2 other installs actually Microsoft software (it is estimated wisdom) think you need pourrait a day (for example, .NET Framework 4 Client Profile). If you need now and you can always install it manually, if need be, if & when you do need, why clutter up your system with it now? [1]

  There are 1 an exception to this rule for Windows XP-based computers (only): according to the Automatic Updates configuration, automatic update may not install the root certificates periodic updates (KB931125) for you. It is therefore very important to run manual checks for updates from time to time & see if one is available/offered.

• Apps for not updating after installation OS 1.3.5

  After installing the new OS 1.3.5 10 of my needed apps updated.  They all fail to install it and the pre repeat myself that I have to restart.  Several don't reboot, no help.  The icons are still there for those applications with the yellow sign and!.  I can't remove the apps either.

  Yes, installed preware.  I thought that I removed all the patches, etc., which installed w / preware before installing the 1.3.5.

  Found this thread on treocentral forum that solved the problem... downloaded Helper of Migration of preware emergency and it solved the problem.
