Why does windows partition hard disk of 500 GB so that 60 GB fills the drive c, then d ' drive is empty (295 GB free)?

It depends entirely on the Installer Windows at your partition layout described no.1 is not standard.

By default on a totally blank disk Windows 7 installation will create two partitions. A system reservedMB 100 partition which will not have any drive letter and is not normally visible on computer. The rest of the disk will be the operating system.

Your drive C is 60GB because someone chose her for this size. It seems that if the computer has been upgraded, 60 GB would have been appropriate for Windows XP.

  • Run a virtual hard disk file in Virtual PC

    Hello

I recently got a Windows 7 PC to replace a Windows XP machine. However, while I still have access to anything whatsoever on the old PC that I maybe need even once, I did a .vhd on the old hard drive file.

I can't open this vhd file, because I can't find a way to create a new virtual PC with which use this virtual hard disk.

    Is anyway to do this?

    Thank you
    Richard

Windows 7 can read files in VHD(Virtual Hard Disk) without VPC (Virtual PC).  You can make the VHD file be seen as a hard drive on the new PC. Here's how to do it.

    Attach the VHD file:
    1. right click on 'My Computer' and click on 'manage '.
    2. go in "Disk management" under "Storage" on the left side.
    3. click on the 'Action' menu on the top and click on "attach VHD.
4 locate the hard drive file virtual you want to open, you can also make the drive read only just in case you accidentally change something.  Then click on 'OK '.
    5. you should see your virtual hard drive in "My Computer"
    Detach the VHD file:
    1. go in disk management as described in steps 1 and 2 as I explained earlier.
    2. on the bottom half of the window, find the hard drive virtual you want to detach.
3 click on the "disk #" and click on "remove VHD.
Good luck. God bless you. :)
  • Location of the bookmarks on an old hardrive that is not Windows, running but the old hard disk files are accessed through another hard drive.

The old hard disk does not run Windows, so access to the usual file through Windows Explorer or Firefox has not worked for me. The old hard drive is now a slave drive and all files are intact and accessible via the new Windows 7 64-bit operating system.

You have Windows configured to display the hidden files and folders? If not, do it as soon as the first. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=Windows-7

Then, what version of Windows do you have on the old drive? Your profile folder must be on the way there:

    Windows XP and earlier versions:

    \Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

    Windows Vista and later:

    \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

If you find multiple profile folders, see the recent order. You find a subfolder named bookmarkbackups. This article describes how to restore the .json files, you will find: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer.

    A little luck?

  • How to transfer music from an external hard disk files the reader thumb

I have my music on my external hard drive and I have a usb input on my car radio (up to 8 GB), but I tried to transfer playlists of hd for the thumb without result. I synchronized in wmp11 but also tried to add files to wmp, but the files on the hard disk are staying to the format of the album and do not appear as they do id they are on my hard disk. is there a post hd USB RIP tab with drag and drop each song in a record high desk then copy of thumb? all the files were on my old computer with windows xp and it was much easier to use it. WTF.

    Hello knottywolf,

    ·         Have you tried to copy the files from the external hard drive to the flash drive?

    ·         What are the type of files that can be played by your car stereo?

    ·         After a synchronization of devices, have you tried to copy the tracks instead copy the playlist?

If you are not able to transfer the playlist directly from Media Player, you should try to copy the files to your external hard drive from Windows Explorer and paste them to the USB.

  • Cannot add again invited in Fusion 7 hard disk file existing (VMDK)

    Hi all

Since the upgrade to Fusion 7 (and MAC OS 10.10) I can't select an existing VMDK file to add to a newly created virtual machine: all the VMDK files (any directory they are in) are dimmed in the dialog box.

No idea what is causing this behavior?

    Thank you

    Tim

Assuming the DescriptorFile hard disk exists s ("Virtual Disk.vmdk" vs binary scopes for example "Virtual Disk - s001.vmdk") with disc type twoGbMaxExtentSparse that only the hard disk DescriptorFile not will be not grayed out when you try to add an existing drive so that the only other thing that comes to mind is permissions.  Normal authorization on the hard files by default is 0600 or - rw - from a Terminal.  BTW, I have no problem adding an existing drive to a computer virtual with VMware Fusion 7.

What you see could be linked to a task that you have schedules (such as anti-virus, defragmentation of the hard drive, etc)

Check the tab startup in MSConfig for items which currently running as part of the startup of your PC. See

  • Windows vista hard disk processing.

I had a laptop which had vista windows on it. But, the hard drive got fried, so I got a new. Now I'm wondering if there is a way to turn the old hard disk windows vista the new hard drive because I have not re install disks. Is this possible?

    Hello

normally the new hard drive manufacturer will provide some cloning software to move all fron the old to the new hard drive

like your hard drive is fried it will not

    Try these methods:

    1.

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    2.

or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • LR stored on external hard disk files have disappeared or became not related?

Help: I opened LR to work on some files. The hard drive where the files are stored is attached. LR has always considered all the files it's supposed to. NOW, for some reason, it only sees the files LR upwards until 2014. It does not show me the files, properly installed and already worked on several times. If I go on my external hard drive, I can see all the files after both before 2014. The files are always there hard disk, but it is no longer bound to LR. How and why this happened and how to I fix? Thank you.

    Hi seandt,

Have you checked in Control Panel from all photographs in the library module and subfolders?
Are these images not appearing at all in the Lightroom library or they appear with the exclamation points?

Work in the same catalog that you were earlier?

Go to the file menu > open recent item > check if you are in the correct catalog.

    Kind regards

  • RC of Windows 7 hard disk allocation

I'm looking everywhere for an answer to this and can't find anything, so I hope that this community can help.

I recently downloaded a copy of the Windows 7 RC and install in Fusion without any problem. He turned the GIS software, I need for school wonderfully. However, there is a problem. When I go to the start menu and select "Computer", the window that appears shows me that I only have 5 GB of 39.9 GB. However, when I created the virtual machine, I allocated 80 GB to the HDD. The parameters see the merger he set at 80, and I can't fix. I also tried to add a second hard drive (which I did successfully in a VM XP I) and Win7 would not recognize it.

    Any ideas of the community?

I do all this on a 2008 MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz beginning with a 200 GB hard drive, 4 GB of RAM, running Mac OS 10.5.7 and VMWare Fusion 2.0.5.

This sounds like it is probably the issue. I presets the total size of the VM, but I do not use the option to split (2 parts GB). That work actually better? I sounds like it might. I'm close to having a hard drive on my MBP, so this makes a lot of sense.

Yah, it's certainly what it is then.  The extent of the 'better' is a subjective thing, and all depends on your needs.  There should not be large performance difference between the two, but slot files are useful if you need to migrate them to a hard drive formatted FAT32, or if you need to reduce your virtual disk size.

    Thanks for the comments!

    You're welcome =)

  • Re: Satellite A210 - reinstall external HARD disk files

I backed up by Satellite A210 files on a Western Digital Passport drive prior to running the Toshiba restore disk. When trying to re - install files I asks me to format the disk in drive d if I do this I lose the data, I have it plugged into a second laptop and it works fine.

How can I transfer files to my laptop? The two laptops using Vista Home Premium

I'm a little confused about your ad, personally for me it s not clear m.

If you must run creator of recovery disk Toshiba blank DVDs to create such an environment of recovery. Therefore, you can use an external HARD drive.

  • Satellite C660 - 23 M Windows 7 hard disk error

I've only had my laptop (Satellite C660 - 23M) for three months, I started to have problems with him about a week earlier, including a time Blue Screen of Death, but I got the computer Safe Mode and did a system restored and it has been fine since then. Then earlier today, I had a Windows hard drive error, telling me to back-up and then repair or replace the hard drive. The back-up goes on an external hard drive as we speak, so fingers crosssed I can't stand to lose all my data.

I created a disk backup media when I got to the laptop but every time I tried with validation, it would fail, but in time, I don't think I should be so little time, just so created a non-validated copy and thought that would be nice (I'm now concerned!).

Should I restore my hard drive? If so, how? What has caused this? And because it is only 3 months old, am I stuck with a laptop to duff who will continue to break down on me?

    Hello

In your case, I would recommend to check the capacity of the HARD drive.
This can be done using the freeware tool called disk HARD Drive Fitness Utility.
I guess that this software can help detect HARD drive errors.

If the HARD drive would be affected, then you need to replace the HARD drive.
Here you will find a nice instruction how to do this:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=138

the laptop seems to be covered by the warranty, if the HARD drive can be replaced under term average conditions, this can be done free of charge
I would recommend asking the ASP (partner in your country) for this HARD drive they could send you this HDD.

  • How can I go on my new Windows 7 hard disk partitioning?

The unit is new just out of the box.  I want to partition the drive into 2 partitions equal additional (4 of which 2 existing.  (for example.  existing partitions are approximately 2 GB and 12 GB I guess).  I want to leave the quiet recovery partition and expand c / 30 GB (if necessary).  Divide the balance in 2 sections of additional disk.  Is this possible?

Hello texcajun, you should be aware that the Windows operating system will only allow a maximum of 4 primary partitions.

Your hard drive has probably already created 3 partitions. It is more likely is the 100 MB system partition, the partition C:\ and the D:\ Recovery partition.

It may be possible to create additional logical partitions, linked to the primary partitions.

    Just some thoughts.
