Virtualization licensing policy

Hello

I wonder how to develop the MAC OS license virtualization platform. We have the development environment running two virtual MAC OS VM to using the latest version of VMware fusion on apple hardware.

I am aware for apple EULA - run two additional instances on apple hardware.

How can I extend the license with the purchase of hardware or software? What I understand the only way to run six virtual machine is purchased three computers apple and three VMware fusion?

Yes, it's true. Two additional virtual machines are allowed on top of one installed directly on each Mac. You will need to buy Macs more if you want to run additional virtual machines.

Also be aware that the host operating system must be the same as the virtualized operating system. For example, 10,10 virtual machines can only be run on a Mac with 10.10 works as the host operating system. 10.11 or any other host operating system is not allowed.

  • NI-VISA licensing policy

    Hello

I would use NI-VISA for my current project, but I'm a bit confused when it comes to licensing policy. Please help me determine whether or not I have to acquire developer NI-VISA and/or deployment license.

In my scenario, I need to write an application Windows (using Embarcadero Delphi IDE) who will control the Tektronix TDS 2000 oscilloscope series via USB. For the control of low level of oscilloscopes, I like to use NI-VISA software.

    I have to buy a NI-VISA license?

    Thanks in advance

    Ivo

    Hello Ivo,

license for NI-VISA is included in the price when you use some sort of application development environment, that is. LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. Other cases, is that you have hardware that you control with NI-VISA, the license for NI-VISA is included in the price of the material. In the case where you use OR development environment or material, you must purchase the license to use NI-VISA. For details please see page ni.com/visa/license.htm.

Please let me know if I can help you more, or mark my answer as being correct.

    Thanks, have a nice day.

    (2) and a 12.1.x?

    (3) and a 13.x.x?

If you have a maintenance contract for your hardware and a cco login, you have the right to download the software images, as long as they have the same function defined.

For example, if you have the IP PLUS have not right to download all of the IP/FW MORE features. You can download any version, if the IP software MORE.

If you need other sets of features, you will need to purchase the license.

  • ESX license policy: free evaluation version, multi core,.

What happens when vsphere standard license is applied on a 2 p (8 cores per processor) AMD server host? This means that any guest THAT VM can be configured up to 6 VCPUs only?

or is it causes any violation of license?

Finally is a real free version of ESX, ESXi, which could be used up to 6-cores? Similar to the free 1 year of Citrix XenServer license that can be requested again when it expires

"VMware ESX is free for up to 6 cores per processor only.

"Version of Vsphere Advanced is required for 12 processor cores"

    Thanks in advance.

    Yes

In a way VMware licenses has nothing to do with cores/processors available on the host hardware, but only the ability to configure to prompt vCPU?

No, it's both.  Company like can see beyond the 6 cores per physical processor and allow up to 8vCPU per guest.  See the link I posted above

  • Policy 5.1 vSphere licenses

Hi, we will install a number of vSphere servers 5.1 use vSphere standard edition. Each server has 2 CPU sockets, requiring therefore per ESX Server 2 licenses. VMware licensing policy has changed several times in recent years, and I want to clarify the policy on the server memory.

Assuming that 2 CPU licenses were purchased by vSphere Standard Server, what is the maximum amount of memory that can be used on each server? I would like to install the maximum memory that the server can have which is 192GO - if the license allows the use of all memory per VM?

    Thank you

VMware has completely abandoned politics dreaded vRAM, they brought with 5.0 on a year and a half, so no worries in that Department. Add as much RAM you want to your hosts.

Apart from the maximum limit of the technique, he has never been a restriction on the amount of physical RAM might have your hosts - what mattered was how much RAM your VMS running actually consumed. Fortunately, those days are gone now.

  • Conditions of the retail of Windows XP Professional and license and decal OEM COA / label question:

Hello everyone and especially lawyers license!

It's pretty obvious (applying common sense) that a single license is a single Installation, no matter if Windows XP, Vista or 7, or OEM or retail.

    However...

    Question 1:
Is that the only true, firmer and more correct to do statement?
""Windows XP Professional OEM license dies with your computer / caisse".

    Question 2:
I have two DELL computers. One is with Windows XP Professional OEM (Dell) and the other with Windows Vista Business OEM (Dell). I would like to swap/Exchange two licenses COA stickers (if it's physically possible) and simply change the Microsoft Windows operating system on these two computers. From what I understand at this time - and please correct me if I'm wrong - Microsoft Licensing policy said it is legally impossible. True? Fake?

    Question 3:
This question is about the "decommissioning" of Windows Vista business to Windows XP Professional. I'm OK with my understanding that there are some licenses of Windows Vista Business out there that can be legally retired, and some who cannot?
How do I determine by looking at just the Windows Vista Business OEM COA sticker, if it is a license that can legally be downgraded or not?
If it can be downgraded, can I license Windows Vista Business COST just the installation of Windows XP Professional key, when asked to enter?

Thank YOU ALL for your expertise and your help!

    Hello

Question 1: "Windows XP Professional OEM license dies with your computer / caisse"-c' is licensed OEM is NOT transferable to another machine and once your dies of PC/LAptop, then the license dies with him.

Question 2: You cannot exchange an OEM license of any computer to another. This includes exchanging the COA from one device to another, making of this ould invalidate your license, as the certificate of authenticity shall be kept with the license provided with the original machine.

Question 3: Downgrade rights allow you to get off at analogues for the same edition of vista, IE company from Vista to XP Pro, you cannot downgrade from Vista to XP Pro home.

hope that answers all your questions.

  • License question: with the help of two "Standard Edition" licenses for > 8 vCPU by host

Hi, I've been reading place on it for a few hours and would like to get confirmation here.  I have

-a physical host: dual processor, 8 cores per processor

-multiple licenses VSphere 5.0 Standard edition

    -VCenter 5.0 Enterprise Edition

I want to distribute the VM with 12 vCPU and I expect to consume two licenses Standard Edition - one for each CPU, for a total of 12 vCPU.  When I try to do using VCenter I get error "virtual machine has 12 virtual processors, but the host only supports 8.»  "The number of virtual processors can be limited by the OS selected for the guest virtual computer or licensing for the host."

I think that it is a license restriction because on the same host, the VSphere evaluation has authorized the deployment of a 12 virtual machine using RHEL 6.3 vCPU.  I checked later vCPU on evaluation copy function and it was 32 channels for it proves that it is not a BONE or a physical problem.  I think I downloaded an evaluation of the 'norm' rather 'Enterprise', but I am not sure.

I read compare VMware vSphere editions and the 'Standard' column has CPU line: "CPU 1" and line vCPU: '8 - way '.  This makes me think that, for each new license, I should have a CPU with up to 8 cores.  that is by consuming two licenses, I use 2 CPU and up to 16 cores.

I also read the EULA VMware multi-core pricing and Licensing Policy , and he said:

Software licenses with six (6) cores per processor

It does not say "with hearts of six (6) software licenses by host '

    The following excerpt from the EULA is the only evidence that I could find to support the conclusion that for Standard Edition, the maximum number of vCPU for each host is 8 (regardless of the number of licenses consumed);
Combines VMware licenses on a single host software. Licensing policy allows combining the even on software licenses uniprocessor.

Someone can confirm the limitation and is there something obvious that I missed to compare VMware vSphere editions.  The difference between host and per processor is huge, I'm surprised that it is ambiguous.

    Thank you

    Diarmuid

Looking at this picture, it is said that you need 1 VMware Standard license per physical processor that your host has.  Down the chart to the vCPU, who said that a VM can have at most 8 vCPUs (for Standard).  Isn't 8 vCPUs per license, which is 8 vCPUs total.

The demo version is licensed Enterprise Plus and develops of vCPU 32 on a virtual machine.

  • Can downgrade us a license 11 coldfusion coldfusion 10 licensed?

Our company requires another 10 Coldfusion license (we have a group of servers CF 10) but it is impossible to find on the market to buy.  Our dealer says that it is possible to buy a license of CF 11, then have Adobe give us a permit to downgrade to CF 10.  Is this true?

You can buy ColdFusion (currently available on www.adobe.com) 11 and then request us a copy of ColdFusion 10, thanks to the backward license policy. We will only provide the license key for the requested product. Media/Download will not be provided by Adobe.

Note:-the product must be purchased through Adobe Volume Licensing (Adobe licensing, discounts |) Adobe purchase programs)

  • Issue of license multi-core

    Hi all

Everything that Google talk to me about my problem, to include multicore currently VMware licensing policy, has been a year or so old so I thought I would ask here.

The last part to my new server from the lab to the home coming today, I'm refreshing my old box mono-socket dual-core opteron I have used for the past two years; the new system is built around a motherboard very mono-socket G34 with processor 8-core Opteron Magny-Cours.  What I was googling earlier, it seems that VMware has not fixed the '6 cores per socket"licensing issue.  This license number is very strange since CPUs 8-core brand new ones can be had for less than $250 and 12 processors can be had for a little over $500, so they are not exactly going to be unique in large data centers.

I really want to stay with ESXi. That said, can someone tell me if I have to move to Hyper-V, I already have rights, just to be able to use all my new bright carrots?  A couple of thousand dollars just to support a processor whose capabilities are more or less comparable to a quad-core xeon w / hypethreading, lighted, who would work under the free license as I read it, is not in the budget.

Thanks for insight to date on that.

    Kind regards

I have seen posts that suggest that your hearts would work with the free hypervisor.

  • Licenses for single processor in a server dual socket

Hi, I keep getting conflicting information regarding the authorization of a CPU socket server two filled with a single processor. The question is what I have to concede to the number of available sockets on a given server even if not all are met? For example, if I have a server for 2 sockets with a single physical processor installed, can I get a license ESX Server for a processor or two outlets available?

I thought that strategy was changed in 2008, according to the statement of VMware (link below), but one of my colleagues contacted VMware support this last July asking this question and I was told that each outlet available should be allowed regardless of if they are populated with a processor.

    VMware uniprocessor license policy

It is a new implementation of Enterprise vSphere 4.1 on compatible servers HCL with centralized authorization.

    Thank you

You will need the licenses by "processor in a socket.

    of http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf

    Capacity of the CPU

Each kit of vSphere or edition is allowed on a per processor basis,

Depending on the number of physical processors (CPUS) on each host.

In the case of the kits of vSphere, the payment listed for the capacity of the CPU

discussed later in this document applies to more than one host.

Visitors can buy and deploy or redeploy any combination of servers,

as required; each processor in a socket may contain multiple cores.

  • Number of CPU of the license server to the servers of a socket

I searched the community but found no solution or similar results. Maybe it's so trivial...

So the question is on the (Macrovision FlexLM) license server and how this licensing system for guests.

We use vCenter Server v2.5 3 update and license server is running on the same hardware. Are all ESX v3.5 hosts and update levels varies between 2 update and update 4. In this thread (Enterprise license) David Weinstein said with an example how many CPU is consumed from the license server.

You can use 16 CPU Enterprise License 'package' in different ways:

    • 2 servers with 8 CPU sockets populated = 2 * 8 = 16 CPU of the license server

    • 4 servers with 4 CPU sockets populated = 4 * 4 = 16 CPU of the license server

    • 8 servers with 2 CPU sockets populated = 8 * 2 = 16 CPU of the license server

Or you can do any combination of fill 16 CPU:

    • 1 server with 4-socket full CPU + 1 server with 8 sockets populated CPU + 2 servers with 2 sockets populated CPU = 484 = 16 CPU of the license server

So far, everything is correct and understandable, but when you add a server socket for the things the soup becomes interesting. Servers a socket use only 1 CPU since the license server and which is correct from the point of view License Manager server.

    QUESTION (S):

    1. Is an enterprise license for the ESX (up to two CPU sockets) the right to split into two servers a socket?

    2. In the opposite case and an enterprise license for ESX (up to two CPU sockets) is related to a single physical host and there is a socket server, how the license server should deliver CPU from the pool of license? CPU in a relationship?

    3. A good way to request a report where the license server shipped number of CPU's match with one, two, four or eight socket servers? Or is it all good 3rd third-party tool for that?

  • Support of VDI for Acrobat Professional version 10

I intend to virtualize the application "Acrobat Professional version 10" and we would like to know a few details about the application.

    1. The application is still supported so we it virtualize with virtualization Microsoft App - V 4.6 SP1 or Citrix XenApp? If not, is there a roadmap for future support and what is the target?
    2. The Application license policy does support the application if virtualized?
    3. The rest support application is installed on Citrix/VDI XenDesktop/Hyper-v virtual desktop environments? If otherwise, is there a roadmap for future support and what is the target?
    4. The Application licensing policy supports the Application on the virtual desktop environment? If this isn't the case, then is there a licensing policy that supports the Application on the virtual desktop environment?

    Thanks again.
