You have no malware or a virus, unless you have hacked/jailbroken your iPhone.

I want to download youtube audio but very afraid of Add-ons Firefox because of viruses and malware. All of the recommendations that are safe? Thank you.

There are two routes you can go for it. You can use a web service based in to do it for you or you can install an add-on for Firefox can take this place... I found the Add on YouTube video and Audio Downloader to do it for you

Be wary of Add-ons that you download from outside addons.mozilla.org because they may have some malware in it. -Add-ons which are downloaded through AMO (addons.mozilla.org) are tested for viruses during the download process and if they come out dirty, they will not be transferred.

    Hello

Besides what TheOldMan seconded and advised, I would like to add that if it is possible, it is very unlikely because of the way the virus and malware work today and because of theway the function of recovery partitions.

I mean, you can't rely 100% on the recovery partitions, they are good, but not 100% subject to attacks or loss. However, if your PC ever be infected, this does not mean that the recovery of the partitions will become infected and unuable.

  • Received a call from phone scam someone saying my computer is infected with the virus and malware

original title: support for pc rj

I recently received a call from someone called Mark of pc rj support and they said that my computer is infected with viruses and malware. Immediately, I hang up and called my computer technician who went to my place and said: my computer is absolutely perfect... This chap Mark said he also is an employee of Microsoft, which I highly doubt. He asked me to download something that my antivirus detected as virus...

I would like to ask microsoft to focus on this

Its fake. Ignore it. There are a lot of posts here, saying: it's a scam. And this has nothing to do with Microsoft. And MS (and everyone else) are aware of this

Restore to factory settings get rid of most of the viruses and malware?  I read that restoring to factory settings is a way to get rid of viruses and malware, but I also read that it does not get rid of all the viruses and malware.  On average, approximately what percentage of virus/malware done restoring a system get rid of?

    Thank you

Restore factory settings will get rid of all viruses and spyware because it completely re-images your HARD drive - there is nothing of the old installation - everything is crushed by the new image.

  • Each exe file I open me gives a "corrupted file... run chkdsk', but the analysis of virus and malware are clean?

    Hello

I'm completely puzzled here. When I started my computer today I got a notification saying one of the start-up programs exe file has been corrupted. I think that "uhoh". Then my antvirus software is dΘmarre with the same and I get the notification that I'm not running and antivirus. Then I realize counts all exe files I click gives me the error "file is corrupted... Please run chkdsk" appear in the taskbar. At this point, I am thinking virus or malware.

Some programs still work even with the corrupted message, but every exe, whether old or newly downloaded, will give me this corrupt message. Also, when I tried to reinstall my anti-virus, he wouldn't. (I'm under Avast Internet Security Pro).

I found myself downloading AVG free and for some reason any that exe is not being corrupt. So I at least have a running antivirus software now.

I scanned my whole system with AVG with the latest virus definitions, and it sees no virus. I run only Malwarebytes with the latest updates... nothing there either.

Is my computer clean? For me this seems unlikely, but there is something that is not a virus or malicious software that could cause this?

Also, I started in safe mode, and it makes exactly the same thing. Each exe is corrupt when I open it.

I am all of these ideas, except to the reformat.

    Thank you

    Mike

I don't see you mention on running "chkdsk".
    So, do you?

How to run the check disk (chkdsk)... assuming you are using Vista

Start button > Search box, type cmd > look up, right-click on cmd.exe > Run As Administrator >

in the black and white window, at the command prompt flashes, type chkdsk/f/r > press the Enter key.
Note: there is a space between 'chkdsk' and ' / '.
The screen will say something like cannot do it now, but you want to run it on reboot. Click on 'y' as in Yes > press > window cmd of output.

Restart your computer. It will take a while. DO NOT stop the machine. Just wait.

  • The safer browser and e-mail provider & how are these viruses and malware problems to spread?

I use Google Chrome and Internet Explorer 10 to surf the web. In my view, they have everything to lose if their browser has problems of security, however, makes also large target. A Yahoo email account has been hacked. How, I don't know. Then the spam was sent to all my contacts. I have used e-mail accounts, with all programs of well known web site outside of Yahoo. Hotmail/Live, AOL, Gmail, mail, and inbox.com. They all seem to work. With spam being a problem on Yahoo & Hotmail. For me your browser must protect users against viruses and software malware and other things of that nature. Because surf the Internet, it's what you want to do with a browser. How is distributed most of these things? What is the e-mail provider and a more secure browser.

    Hi dough.

I agree with Bugbatter that even if all the major Webmail as some antivirus e-mail scanning, but you cannot rely solely on them. Also, it is not a question of what browser or webmail is more secure or better. Don't forget a website or a program can be infected sometime or another. However there are a few things to you, as a user, can do to protect yourself. As BB says above. It is your responsibility because it is your PC, your account and your identity that you want to protect.

1.) keep your operating system (including your browsers) and the security of programs up to date. There are programs such as Java, Flash, Reader which are important targets by malicious software so that they can be used to infect your computer. If you can, avoid them, otherwise, leave enable automatic update so that any security flaw can be fixed in time.

2.) use a strong password. Combination of 10 or more letters, numbers and symbols using capital letters too. Use different passwords for all your sites; emails, social, banking and hang them on a regular basis.

3.) don't be click happy. Do not open unknown emails and if a friend sends attactments, call him or her or answer her and ask if he or she send these attactments. If something seems fishy, it's probably so don't click on don't it. Do some research first. Have a special folder where you can download your attactments and scann again. Do not open it directly fron the site, and if possible have a secondary scanner to get a second opinion. Malwarebytes is a good choice.

In open wifi hotspots) 4 (coffe shops, airports) switch your firewall to 'Public' if possible and avoid banking on cibersites using a public PC.

5.) have a backup strategy. Make a regular backup of your system and important documents (files, photos, emails, videos, music, Fav). Win 7 and Win 8 joined, I understand, a very good program to do this. There are other third-party programs that can also make an image of your HARD drive regularly.

I think those are the mayor points to be relatively safe, but I imaging of other members of this forum can add a little more.

  • The current Virus and malware Notifications - true or false

I continue to receive notifications of virus or malware on my iMac with OS X (10.11.5).  Are these for real or are they scams?  How can I get rid of them - notifications is that they are fake or viruses if they are for real?

They are all scams. Nothing can analyze your Mac over the internet.

They can only come from the Web sites you visit.

It could also be related to Adware. Have you already installed all the programs on websites to download software such as CNet, Softpaedia, etc.?

  • Is there a program to search for viruses and malware?

is there a program I can run to find malware and vfisuses software. In addition to the security of microsoft they check it on my computer. When I run a scan?  Thank you

In my opinion, if the Windows Firewall is enabled (installed as part of XP, Vista and 7) and that you have installed Microsoft Essensials Essentials (downloadable for free), security is adequate for most users for most cases. We could consider using Malwarebyte s anti-malware ot the equivalent for additional scans from time to time. (Malwarebyte s has a free version for private individuals). For those who have a high risk, Microsoft, Kaperski and others have some free tools that can be downloaded and which, when it is burned on a CD or DVD are executed from bootable MNR and check otherwise difficult to detect threats.

  • When I want to install the converter file for DownloadHelper my McAfee security says that the site contains viruses and malware and me should not go on this site

The warning comes from the "save to file" from the installation file. Should I ignore it? I just had a big problem with a scam ransomware blocking system, so I'm really sensitive.

Note that there is generally no need to use such a converter because a lot of media players can play flv and mp4 files as well.

If you do not then you can look at VLC.

There should not be a problem with the converter used by the Video DownloadHelper extension

The first is to use antivirus scanners online fake state that your computer is infected and then prompt you to download a file that will install the infection. The other method are pirated web sites that attempt to exploit vulnerabilities in programs that you run on your computer to install the infection without your knowledge or permission. No matter how it is installed, as soon as it runs on your computer it will install as a variety of names in different programs and graphical interfaces depending on the version of Windows that is running. Whatever the name, however, they all end the same program with just a different skin to this topic.
