    so I used Spybot S & D to get rid of a virus on my computer that I thought was spyware. (basically what made the virus was redirect all my research on google for websites ad). After what's happened, he said I had to reboot my computer so I don't, Spybot run and then asked me a bunch of changes and whether to 'allow' or 'ignore' or 'refuse the change. I don't know if this has caused, but I clicked on 'allow' or 'deny change' for many of them, and then neither firefox nor IE would work because both would be would break whenever I tried to use them.

    so to remedy THIS problem, I tried to use "System Restore" last week when my laptop was working fine, but the system restore everything screwed up my worst computer. Now XP will not boot even upward, and I get a blue screen with the error "STOP: 0x00000007E (0 x 0000005, 0 xC0000001, 0xF7AA13D4, 0xF7AA1D0) ' and its a cycle with no end of restarting but XP never works.

    I tried the safe mode, last good configuration, all these options, known and none got XP to start.

    I am so lost on what to do, can anyone help me?

    Thanks for all your comments

    rdjfdhar,
    Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  If you can try to boot mode safe mode with command prompt, and then run the following commands.

    Chkdsk /r

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315265

    sfc/scannow

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

    If you cannot start mode safe mode with command prompt, then you need to boot from your XP CD recovery console and run these commands.  Post back with the results.

  • I accidentally hit start diagnosis when I was in msconfig and now my computer will not go back to a normal startup

    I tried to close some startup programs in msconfig and key to start diagnosis and now my computer don't return to normal startup,

    Try this:

    Start | Run | Msconfig | OK | Law tab

    Select Normal startup

    Click on apply and OK.

    Reset.

    For later use, there are methods generally better than using msconfig to prevent programs from running automatically at startup. Generally it is best to run the actual program and then enter the preferences to do this.

  • Computer will not start!-boots to black screen

    OK so this is what is happening I think maybe breaking it... so I she closed and he was going to shut down, but before I did I wanted to install updates, I have so been lettng but my cat hit the power cord and it turned off I tried to restart it and that I start more... as it does all the normal show the loading bit like him bar all go and bam just a black screen... Ive put in the recovery disks, but they charge that just stop on the waiting screen please and were someone at - it something that can help me or know why it broke? original title: Vcomputer does not start!

    Have you changed the boot order to use disk recovery/s?

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the recovery discs are still not working, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the computer.
    This isn't their recovery process, Microsoft.
    See you soon.
  • We get a blue screen with no error message when the user arrives in the morning... but not every day.
    Have a user who was the bluescreen with no error message when she arrives in the morning. This doesn't always happen.  But when it does, it must do a hard boot of his computer. It runs XP SP3, and it is on a domain. Another user reports what is happening also, but not as often.
    Yet once, it is not consistent where it happens every working day. It's maybe 1 or 2 days a week, if that. Hibernation is disabled and power options are set to never turn off.
    If this is not enough information, I will be happy to provide more if necessary. Any contributions to this issue would be appreciated.
    Hey Brian39
    If you change the motherboard that you normally have to reinstall vista
    your hard drive if you ever reinstalled vista contains the drivers for the old motherboard etc.
    and if vista is pre-installed you can not put the motherboard unless you do so in collaboration with the computer manufacturer
    If a retail license, you can change the motherboard
    but you will normally always reinstall vista for reasons
    My computer turns off during an update to windows xp and now windows xp will not load.  It gives me the option of last known good configuration and safe mode startup and normal startup, but it just goes back to the loading screen then flashes a blue error screen then back to display boot options.  I don't have a recovery disc as the laptop does not have a CD-ROM drive or a floppy drive.  I have the product key, but I don't know where or how repair the operating system.
    Contact the manufacturer of your laptop as there must be a way to restore the computer. There may be a hidden restore partition.
