Virus deleted the product key

I recently had a virus that has handled a large amount of damage. It was a kind of fake antivirus protection. I managed to clean my computer, but now Win 7 says I'm not more authentic. Unfortunately, it happened the same day as my computer scientist me to update to Win 7 Pro Win 7 Home Premium so now the product key at the bottom of my laptop does not work as it is for Home Prem is there a way to restore my Pro product key or return to the Home Premium and use my old key?

If I have to wait a few days for my computer, the same Pro key it will work?

In addition, unfortunately I couldn't do a system restore because there is no restore point.

Thank you

You can get the product key Windows 7 Professional from your computer programmer who upgraded your system, or if you have the disc to reinstall the original operating system, Windows 7 Home Premium, you can do a clean install of the operating system and use the product key on the bottom of your laptop.

If you purchased Windows 7 Professional from your computer, it should have left both the installation disc and product key with you sticker.

See the response of Mike Hall, but also, note the following:

What virus do you have? How do you know if you're a? Reinstalling Windows due to a virus is almost never required and is usually exaggerated way. It is normally much easier and much less likely to cause you problems if you delete the virus with a good antivirus program.

    Option 1:

Go to the order summary page, you can find your product key:

    https://www.mswos.com/

You can download it from there and use your product key to upgrade:

    Option 2:

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:

  • Satellite C870-1JV - how to get the product key of Windows 8?

    Hello people

Is there a way to find the product key windows 8 that was originally installed on the laptop that my laptop is not the windows sticker anywhere. I reinstalled windows once I deleted the partition by accident and now its asking me for the product key which I do not know.

As far as I know, product key used on the original recovery image can be used if you use the version of the OS. Even with the key to the sticker, you cannot enable clean version.

If you want to have the original version of Win8 (Toshiba recovery image) you must order the Toshiba restore disk and you can do it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • What is the importance of the product key?

Product key, Product ID and license key means the same thing?

If I buy a product key online, up to what limit of its used. When it is used for the installation of a pirate operating system or an application like Office 2010, will it work as authentic and that means that the operating system or office application will be transformed into a real? Or what's happening?

The "product ID" is used to identify the product.

The "Product key" to activate the product

The "license" is the legal treams which you accepted during the installation of the product.

Not a good idea to use a pirated version of any software, because it might include certain undesirable characteristics such a keystroke monitors, virus, etc.  Since you have not mentioned the source of pirated software I can't recommend trying to activate it with a valid key.

If you're ready to buy a "Product key" then why not buy the retail box version because it includes as well the installation disks authentic and a product key.  You may need the disc if you need to reinstall the software.

Excel does not part of Windows - key on the COA sticker is for Windows. If you bought the program in Excel, you have the key to this on the packaging that it has come.

  • have the product key, no disk, need to reinstall xp.

A XP Home Edition, but had bad virus. cleared pc and installed vista. wish I didn't. hogwash. PC not come with xp disc but have the product key. How can I download xp home on cd to use with my original product key and get rid of vista?

    You can not;
If came preinstalled winxp either you should have a recovery cd or a hidden restore partition. Only PC manufacturer can provide a restore disc.
If you purchased a retail version of Windows XP, you must provide proof of purchase, i.e. a receipt until you receive a replacement disc

  • can't activate windows xp with the product key that came with the computer

I got a computer of 510N HP Pavilion from a friend who was absolutely riddled with viruses and malware of all kinds.  Every thing I did to clarify apparently nowhere got done or made it worse.  At the end of the day, the computer would only begin to restart, stop after the start of the HP logo screen, then start to boot, etc and more.  All I could do was to install the hard drive in another computer and format, from scratch.  Now, I'm trying to install the system to XP op for the disc that came with the computer.
the problem: the code the product key on the case went wrong with the disc.  After searching for solutions, I found a code on the disk by searching the files it contains, tried and it worked!  Problem is when I try to turn it on, it says it's an "unauthorized product key."  I tried to enter that code on the box and who says he is "invalid".  The Cd look authentic; are for distribution with new pc HP and Compaq.  After a further inspection drives are XP Professional SP2, while if it is XP Home Edition.  What gives?  Activation does not anyway. It is any use that will not make me buy a new set of disks?

Please let me know if more info or detail is necessary.

PS - only a single piece of hardware has been changed - the cdrom initially provided with the computer was bad, so I went out to perform the installation.

When you perform a restore to the factory on some HPs condition you have two choices: 1) a restoration which keeps your data and programs (in a repair installation); (2) a full destructive restore which brings back the machine to the State, it's when you first opened the box. In your case, you have already wiped the drive, so the question is moot. I would call the HP technical support. Normally when you use an OEM recovery media (HP, Dell, etc.) a product key is never required during the restore. If you have used the media to restore HP shipped with your system and are always asked for a key and one on the sticker machine is not accepted, then something is certainly. Hello

You can also borrow and use a DVD of Vista from Microsoft (retail disk and license OEM System Builders), which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

  • The product key you entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista. You must run the Windows Vista Setup program or enter a Windows Vista business product key

Product key bad for the wrong version?

    Hello

Recently the computer in business inherited from a friend, very fast and very good. Regardless of the operating system no - geniue, is with Vista Business, while the thumbnail of authentication is Vista Ultimate. I took a screenshot of what it says when I put Vista Ultimate product key: (it does not appear if you are unable to use it: P)

    http://S13.PostImage.org/57nfn5pqv/vistareg.jpg

He said: "the product key you entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista. You must run the Windows Vista Setup program or enter a Windows Vista Business product key."

How would the installation of Windows Vista? My files would still be there when you need him? My drivers would still exist? No matter what to get deleted or become unusable? He would return to SP1? Any response is welcome.

You can order form of the manufacturer's recovery media.

The reason why the system as non-authentique shows currently is using a license in Volume KMS - these licenses must be re-activated at least every 6 months by connecting to the KMS user license activation server.

It will require a reformat and reinstall whatever you do, unless you can connect to the KMS - Volume media server cannot be upgraded under normal conditions.

  • Reinstalling Windows Vista, but do not have the product key. How can I find?

    Install Vista on two machines
OK, so one of my friends has Ubunto Linux installed on their system and they want Windows Vista back. I said I would do and use my disks of Vista OS (16 in total).

Now, the fun is that it doesn't have the product key to its original copy of Vista so how I get it back?

It had Vista installed on it before Linux, however based on a virus that Vista should be completely removed and Linux has been installed as an operating system that is temporary until we find Vista once again, since I'm the one with the OS disk, then we re-install it.

So I'll be able to have my copy of Vista on two different computers?

ALSO: Vista came with the computer when he brought it but no recovery disk (as they did with XP) has been provided.

    Hello

1 No. you cannot use your product key on his computer and your computer: Installation is permitted with a license.

And if yours is preinstalled (OEM license), you could not even give it Vista and consider your computer off.

    2. you can't find the product key for the operating systems pre-installed when the product key on the sticker is missing or lost; read this Information:

The way around this is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send recovery discs to reinstall the operating system properly. They should send records for a small fee.

While they are in contact with the Manufaxcturer of the computer also ask them if there is a way to reinstall the operating system on a recovery partition on the hard drive of your laptop, allowing them to save money.

Either of these methods of recovery normally does not imply that you have to insert a product key as factory Setup key is automatically used to activate this process.

    See you soon.
