Virus protection, done vs myth

I was told that I don't need anti-virus software on my Macbook Pro, iPad, or iPhone.

As I understand it, there is no way for an iPad or an iPhone to get a virus or malware.

I am not concerned about my Macbook Pro "sick", but I fear that these virus or malware can reside on my machine and leave it open to pass to the other PC (not Mac). I put Norton Security on my MBP, and he did identify malicious files, even if these files were not hurt my MBP.

He is responsible for having something like Norton Security on my MBP runs El Capitan so I don't spread viruses and malware?

TBH, most, if not all anti-virus programs, I saw people here use, were bad news for their systems.  I understand why you think you need, but unless regularly send you back files for Windows users who do not have their own antivirus, or if you regularly download from torrents sites or aggregate protection download and send these files in both directions for Windows users who do not themselves have an antivirus protection I can't imagine that the risk is worth the reward.

    Matt, welcome to the forum.

It is normal for Windows Defender when another antivirus is installed.  It is automatically disabled.  You will need to contact the Technical Support of Malware Fighter for help on why their program does not run correctly.  They are the experts on their product.

Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

Thanks for the reply. I emailed you a screenshot of the 'action center-installed anti anti-virus applications', so with a little luck, they will have a solution to the problem. I get pop-ups telling me "bad cookies have been deleted", but I don't know if this has something to do with the 'virus protection' element of the package or is just an another function ' detection/removal of malware'

AVG has joined those that cause compatibility problems and are generally too bloated so I usually
recommend it be uninstalled and replaced. Don't forget to uninstall, and then run deletion indicated on the

  • Do I need a malware or virus protection?

Hello, I've owned an iPad for some time and I need to know if I should install an app for virus/malware protection and perhaps get recommendations on what would be good if the situation requires it. I accidentally installed some sort of weird app - it was not appear when I searched in the App Store itself, but I clicked on a Google link that lead to the App Store and brought it up on my iPad. There was no trace of the app in my list of downloads on the App Store once installation is complete, however, so I felt suspicious and deleted without ever running. Should I be worried?

Thank you in advance for all you can give me advice. I am very new to Apple products.

There is a big difference between viruses and malware.

You need not to no virus protection, as there are no on iOS. For protection against malware you just need common sense.

  • The latest version of Firefox is not compatible with my McAfee software and now I have no virus protection. How can I go back to a previous version of Firefox?

When the latest version of Firefox has been installed it gave me a message that the McAfee software was not compatible and so I have more protection against viruses. She added that when it became compatible I would be informed. I cannot afford to be without my virus protection and want to revert to an earlier version of Firefox.

I hope that the problem is that Firefox 5 is not compatible with some of the additional modules of McAfee. It will be rather worrying if she has a problem with McAfee security programs themselves. Please specify exactly what software and the version that you have problems with.

I've read conflicting reports and have had problems with my IP to be blacklisted because of possible malware. Any recommendations on good software to use, or one to stay away from (and why?)

Unless you are concerned about some malware from Windows, simply. If you do, use a product like ClamXav.
