• VISA Read Timeout error when using stream protocol BUS

  I currently use the BUS Flow for a MFC Protocol and I get a time-out error VISA Read:

  Error 1073807339 occurred at VISA read in Send Setpoint.VI-> test.vi

  Possible reasons:

  VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0015) timeout expired before the operation is complete.

  I extracted the part of the code and it attached to this message. Basically, whenever I hit OK to send a VISA just read set value times out. I tried to use the sub VI who is responsible to send the set value and it was fine (when manually, I copied and pasted the ASCII codes) but when I run the global function it times out.

  If you have a command string or a constant you enter a \r\n in, you MUST have '-' Codes view turned on in order to enter the actual control characters. If you enable "\" Codes to display and see \\r\\n, then you have used Normal display to enter the characters.

  First of all that I must say I just starting with control of the instrument using Labview. For this reason, it is possible that the problem I have is easy to solve. However, I am looking for any solution for the forum, but unfortunately I can't fint anything.

  While the situation is this: I'm looking to plug a power Analyzer (Yokogawa WT1800) with the PC through GPIB. To achieve this, I use the USB/GPIB Interface of Agilent 82357 B. The connection is done correctly because I can see and communicate with him through the Explorer NI MAX.

  In order to achieve control of the instrument using Labview, I downloaded and installed the driver of Yokogawa WT1800 (Driver instruments ykt1800) using the NI Instrument Driver Finder tool. The problem I have is that when I run the examples, I find the following error message:

  Error 1073807330 has occurred to the property (arg1) node in Yokogawa WT1800 Series.lvlib: Initialize.vi-> Yokogawa WT1800 series continuous measurement Normal.vi

• VISA read timeout error - Keithley 2400

  I am using LabView 2010 to control a Keithley 2400 Sourcemeter on an RS-232 Interface. I want to set up a measure and take a reading (e.g. ground voltage / time)

  I took an example of "Keithley ReadOnly" library code, but the 1073807346 error to retrieve box "initialize". Then I looked in 'Initialize. VI"and found there is a VISA (timeout error?) reading error. I have attached two screenshots that shows errors. Can someone tell me how to solve the problem? Moreover, I am very new to labview, if someone could suggest a solution that is not too 'Advanced '? Thank you very much.

  
  

• VISA READ timeout error - several GPIB resources

  I'm working on a network 3 GPIB instruments (Optical Attenuator, amplifier in fiber, spectrum analyser), controlled using VISA sessions in Labview. When it is run separately, the three corresponding screws (which are located in three different Labview projects) works as expected. However, when they ran at the same time, one gives them timeout-1073807339 VISA READ errors. These errors seem to occur when another instrument is sending / receiving data / instructions at the same time that she is.

  The exact context of the error is either:

  -an another VI is running, which includes sending several requests and responses every 100 ms, reading

  -by failing VI starts, I get an error of waiting time among the first Subvi containing a VISA READ operation to perform (sometimes initialize.vi (in situation 1), sometimes one of the subVIs connected the rest State (State 0) on the time-out of the structure of the event).

  or:

  -the default VI is running,

  -by starting another VI, which includes repeatedly sending requests and reading the responses, the failing VI up a mistake among the first Subvi containing a VISA READ operation to run (one of the subVIs linked the State of rest (0) on the time-out of the structure of the event).

  What I tried:

  -gradually increasing the delay between the VISA WRITE and READ operations to the relevant instrument (from 10 ms to 10 s), without success. More surprising are my observations which, by operating this single VI, increasing WRITE it / READ delay results in the same timeout errors. I have found no mention of such behavior through research google and forum. I hope that this may point to a solution to the main issue,

  -switching between synchronous and asynchronous VISA WRITE / READ operations.

  -reorganization of the network GPIB to a star to a linear topology topology (three instruments have different GPIB addresses in case anyone is wondering).

  My thoughts:

  It seems to me that the error is related to a delay introduced between a VISA request and its read operation by the transmission of another query associated another instrument in the same network GPIB. But I have no idea why pass a query to another instrument would introduce such a delay, or why this delay would result in a timeout error (and only an instrument, while writing / reading in each pilot screws are basically the same). Hopefully a more experienced Labview-er will be able to shed some light on my problem.

  Included is the project that contains the default VI (main.vi) and the driver custom made use of.

  There are a number of ways. If you want to keep separate projects for instruments, you can use semaphores often slandered around calls for screws in each project. Locking is not expected or predictable, but it would give controlled access to the GPIB resource.

• VISA Write / read error

  From what I saw this was not posted before.

  It seems that the error of read/write VISA is quite common and after reading through a few posts and try as proposed solutions, I find that nothing works. I am trying to contact my motor controller. I have implemented the correct COM port and the interface parameters (such as baud rate, parity, etc.). In the terminal program, termites and the measurement and Automation Explorer I can access and send commands to the controller and it works (the read buffer returns an error but always returns the correct answer).

  The format of the command is EN1\r 1 where 1 is the header and address, EN1 allows the disc and \r is the carriage return. Send orders in this format works. BUT in the program I wrote that I get error infamous timeout as in the attached photo. I tried to remove playback VI but nothing works.

  Please any help would be appreciated.

  I'm quite sure your error (-1073807339, timeout) was published thousands of times before.  So if you haven't seen, you may not have tried.

  The constant string in your diagram, what is the display for this mode?  Is this normal mode or \codes?  A common error is to have it in the normal display and you send a backslash followed by an 'r', rather than send a carriage return character who presents himself as '\r' when the string constant is displayed using the backslash.

• Error reading the attached viSA-1073807339 using Subvi, but why?

  First of all, thanks to all who respond!

  I read N9020A Agilent MXA Signal Analyzer data.  It is successful if a Subvi is used to playback VISA; otherwise "Read Error-1073807339 VISA' rears its ugly little head.»  The Agilent gives the message "REQUEST not COMPLETED" just as endearing.

  The on error-1073807339 OR Knowledge Base article talks about the need to put an end to the chain of command correctly and explains how to check it by double-clicking the control of chain of command on the front and changing the display of '-' Display Mode of the Codes.  I call the VISA Read VI in the block diagram; It does not have a chain of command of front panel control, so I don't know how to apply these tips.

  In any event using a Subvi to perform the Read VISA takes care of the problem, but I have no idea why.  The VI image that does not work is "Agilent MXA Sig Gen vi.png."  A big thank you to Mike on the Agilent forum which provided workaround.

  I found the error in Agilent MXA GIS Gen.vi.  There is typo in one of the VISA WRITE commands.  Originally, it was

  : MMEMORYATA:? "D:\TEST. PNG"

  It should be

  : MMEMORYATA? "D:\TEST. PNG' (remove: before?)

• Visa name cluster resource to the stream network writer causes error 42.

  If I try and pass this heap of 'data engine' with a VISA embedded resource name:

  Then I get this error of the VI "write only to flow."

  

  If I change the data engines TypDef cluster so that a chain control is used instead of the VISA reference, the error disappears and data crosses the stream network without problem.

  

  This is expected behavior?

  I thought that the 'data' (type = "POLY"?) as one located on the VI 'Write one element to flow' was supposed to take just about anything...

  After further investigation, I was able to reproduce the problem and agree that it is a bug. This was reported to R & D (#395047) for further investigations. As mentioned previously, a possible workaround is using the address of the cluster instead of the resource VISA VISA. Thanks for the comments!

  Have you done a search for this error code? Simply install NI-VISA and the error will disappear.

  I found a customer who had the same problem, it was his solution:

  I traced the problem of how our system administrator has installed VISA 4.3.
  
  Due to security requirements, the default umask for root is set to
  
  disable users ' access to the files installed by the root. Therefore, when the VISA
  
  has been installed by the system administrator, the part of directories have been
  
  unreadable by users, and when the VISA (viStatusDesc) tried to gain access to the
  
  error text files, it's been blocked. Once the repertoires of action have been made
  
  accessible to users, the error text returned correctly by
  
  viStatusDesc.
  

  Check again so that your account has the appropriate access to all VISA files.

• Disagreement of Tektronix TDS 3000 VISA and pilot

  My lab is trying to use LABVIEW 2015 in order to obtain numerically a 3054 Tektronix TDS Oscilloscope waveform data. We have (on two separate computers) installed the latest version of VISA (15.5) and the Tektronix 3000 series drivers. However, when we open the instrument control drivers and run one of the examples, we get the following error

  "Error 1073807202 occurred in opening VISA to Tektronix TDS 3000 Series.lvlib:Initialize.vi-> Tektronix TDS 3000 Series Auto Setup Waveform Acquire.vi"

  We have reinstalled the drivers on both computers with no luck, the error continues. We have also re-installed VISA, but the error persists. Is that what could be missing regarding how to actually set this instrument on the rise and synchronize it with labview? We connect the oscilloscope to our computers using a GPIB to USB cable and systems are more or less insensitive.

  No indication in this regard would be appreciated,

• Visa set up serial port problem

  Hi all

  I use the RS-232 port to communicate with the instrument. At the moment the device is not their so I shorted pins 2 and 3 of the connector connected to the COM2 port, so that what ever I'm transmitting, I I'll be back. Using Hyperterminal I am able to verify that whatever i write, he's coming back.

  But when you use a Labview 7.1 I am tring to connect first by configuring the using VISA CONFIGURE SERIAL PORT.vi serial bus

  with the following parameters

  Visa resource name = ASRL2::INSTR (port COM2 because)

  Baud rate = 2400

  Data bits = 8

  Parity = None

  Stop bits = 1.0(Equal to 10)

  Flow control = None

  End of reading at the end of character = True

  Dismissal = A

  Up VISA is in error. The error code is 1073807202

  The procedure described above is similar in the read/write of Visa examples provided...

  I strive to solve the problem but all invain.

• VISA series misery...

  Hi guys,.

  I'm working on a small project, some electronic controls the temperature, some pumps and electricity consumption, I am using rs232 and trying to control LabVIEW.

  When I use teraterm to communicate all right, I can't get labview to work properly with the series, it keeps freezing and now refuses to connect to all me gives error - 1073807360 (VISA unknown system error) explanation of Nice useful error there.

  I want to receive data from dome which are sent every 100ms or so on-screen and also pass setpoint values to the material when the front panel controls are changed.

  I tried to have the reception running all the time which worked, but my data kept get out of sync so I couldn't index to extract useful data, so I changed the code and hardware so that the device sends data only available me when it receives the 'W', but now my labview does not connect.

  I have attached the code, I send 'hxxxE' then set temperature, I will send 'lxxxE' to set a curent, I send 'A' to turn on the pumps and peltier and 'a' turns off,

  and now I have to send 'W' to request the data from the hardware (although I can get rid of this and I have the hardwaresend all the time if it's easier)

  The data comes from the hardware store like: "Val1:xxxVal2:xxxVal3:xxx."

• Can not download updates, 0x8024400A error #.

  I reformatted my computer and tried to dwnload updates as I have in the past. I get to the page where it says 'Express or Custom install' I click on Express or custom, and I get this message: the site has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to visit. "0x8024400A error #.  I went to the error number, it tells me to download Service Pack 3, I clicked on it and it brought me back to the Express and Custom page and I got the same error message.   I am running XP with Service Pack 2.  I've never had a problem in the updates are placed. I reformat my computer once a year to clean.  What has changed and what I can do to fix this?

  I do not trust personally "FixIt" program, but you might want to try.  I have always followed the instructions "fix it myself.

  There isn't mention of the SP3 installation, but if you want to install SP3, download the program installation of SP3 on another computer (if necessary) on the following site, move it to your computer and run it to install SP3.
