Vision: Image Variance

Hello

I was wondering if there is a way to calculate the Variance of a 2D image without converting it to a table.

It would be even better if I can choose, lets say, a KING ring and perform the operation on this KING.

Concerning

Marvin

Yes, I wrote a VI to calculate the local variance over the image, which is to return an image where each pixel contains its local variance.  It is quite simple if you remember that this variance is calculated as: "average squares less the square of the means.  A convolution with a core containing all zeros is the easiest way to find the local average, assuming that you have an image of float.

I have image acquisition via a USB camera to a 12 speed.  The problem I have is to save these images.  If I save these images while acquiring data, the program cannot keep up at this rate.  I need a way to get images to 120 and then save them once the acquisition completed.  I tried to build a table, but it doesn't seem to work (the issue is when I have the array index, I do not get out images).  Any suggestions on this approach or maybe a different approach to achieve this.

    Thank you.

    Hey, gene,

Guess IMAQ Vision + IMAQ USB was used.

The typical error is grouping table of images IMAQ. Do not forget, that the IMAQ image passed as reference, not the image itself. This means, the following code will not work as you expect:

What you need is the following. You must create your buffers before acquisition, then acquire each image in the own buffer:

  • IMAQ Vision Image structure

I currently grabbing an image, using my own equipment and windows messaging and do it in memory as a bitmap image.  How to copy this image in a structure Image IMAQ Vision.  I see other threads that the structure is the owner, but is it possible to copy the raw data in the structure of the Image.  The only way I can achieve this is to write in a BMP file, and then use the () imaqReadFile to read back in. It takes a lot of time, it would be much faster if I could copy from one location to another.

You can use imaqArrayToImage(), but I've always found this difficult to use function.

my favorite way is to create a new image of the right size using imaqCreateImage(), then get a pointer to the first pixel using imaqGetImageInfo() and fill pixels directly by copying the data in the buffer of the image. I already showed how to access pixels directly on this forum. You should pay attention to the size of your pixels and the format of the image (RGB, grey levels).

  • Black output of assistant vision image

I use labview 8.6 and vision assistant 2009 to deal with the 640 * 480 RGB picture caputured by a qickcame of logitech. the problem is once the image through the express VI vision assistant the out put a 640 * 480 all black image! However controlled from inside the wizard of vision that each process will be just fine. so now I can't get the output image! How this can be solved?

When the first control this binary Palette has been selected for good Vision display (right-click of the mouse-> Palette-> binary)! Binary image appear black with shades of gray palette.

Secondly - (if you make sure that your images and the script are OK)-you can try to debug Vision Assistant Express VI.

Save a copy of your VI, and then click Express VI-> Fron open the right panel of the mouse, and then OK. Express VI will be converted to normal VI, go inside and debugging.

  • IMAQ Vision: image not valid type

I use the evaluation version of LabView Pro and Vision Builder to process a video taken from a Webcam from Microsoft. I try to apply a part of the function as a filter of treatment or look at a histogram as graph below but LabView always returns invalid image type.  I assume that these functions cannot process the image directly from webcam (using Vision acquisition) and may need to be converted before their transformation. However, I'm unable to do it. Please give me any suggestions or provide that I have to use the function

In most cases, WebCam will deliver Image RGB (color). Even if you have turned on the WebCam in grayscale mode (then RGB components are equal). IMAQ polygon can handle the U16 only U8 I have 16 or types of SGL.

    What you can do:

    (A) use IMAQ ColorHistograph instead of the polygon IMAQ.

    or

    (B) convert your color to grayscale image (good way is to take ExtractSingleColorPlane IMAQ and set the type of intensity. Destination image must have type Grayscale U8). You will then be able to use IMAQ polygon.

  • Unable to process the image

    Hello

When I tried to run the attached program, it displays the following error.

Error 1074396080 has occurred to IMAQ extract single color plan

    Possible reasons:

IMAQ Vision: Image not a valid Type.

My input image is also attached.

    Please help me to debug.

Look, you set your 3 images as type 'U8 gray levels', then you read an image in color (your attached png file) and then try to extract a color pane... I bet that if you put a probe just after the "IMAQ ReadFile" the image will be in graysclae, and if you use a component "extract color" on a grayscale image, it is understandable that you get an error.

Image 1 should be allocated as a color image; So instead of using twice the "copy image" maybe just linking a graysclae buffer to the dst 'image' entry "excerpt of color" pane will make it easier.

Look at this, I re-worked your VI a little, I think that it works as expected:

    Hope this helps

  • The image reference

    Hi Expert Vision,

I just started tinkering with the module Vision and think it's very nice.

A rookie question I had, with a picture (for example from a grab IMAQdx) reference, I have to connect through all functions, or is permitted to use only the first copy.

What I really mean is that with normal references the reference itself is constant, and should not be religiously it wire even though all States, etc.

Please refer to the image that I hope that my request a little more clear. Thank you!

Yes you are right, it is just a normal static reference. Nevertheless, I prefer always connect via all nodes and use registers with shift on the nodes. Just for cleanliness of code.

And second thing, beware when wire you the Dst vision Image entry live treatment in this case, the reference to output image is equal to Image Dst. If Image Dst is left unwired, the output image is equal to the Src of the Image.

  • IMAQ flatten image for the 64-bit version of string

    Hello

I noticed customer odd based on vision "flatten image chain" on labview 64-bit edition. In my program I use flatten image to the string (with compression to JPEG and kind of flatten Image) to compress and send data to another application. I noticed on the compressed image color missmatch. I say red (255,0,0) 32-bit RGB image and I flattened for string and then save this string as a binary JPEG using Write to vi. When I open the file of the picture is blue (0,0,255). It doesen't matter how data is written (big endian, little endian or native) the result is always the same. 32-bit edition Labview, the code worked correctly.

I reported a bug in the NC and I'm still waiting for a solution to this problem.

LabVIEW: labview professional development system 2010 32/64 bits (with vision development module) completely v10.0f2 lie

Systems: labview 64 bit on windows 7 64 bit-> flatten image to string-> false color

LabVIEW 32-bit on windows 7 64 bit-> flatten image to String-> colors OK

LabVIEW 32-bit on windows 7 32 bit-> flatten image to String-> colors OK

A picture of the block diagram that I used to test the conversion is attached.

    See you soon

    Hi 3DVision.

I think I see the problem... you code looks like he expects that out of "flattening the image of the chain" will actually be a JPG file as a string, because you have chosen to use the JPG compression options. However, this is not the way that VI is intended to be used. It is simply a way to convert an image type of Vision in a string representation which can be easier to haul around (for example via the network, the user file format, etc.). It is a parallel to normal 'flatten' that can be used on any type of data from LabVIEW. The format of this string is the owner and has provisions for storing information that is specific to the Vision images that cannot be represented in the file formats normal image (overlay information, benchmarking, custom, etc. data info). If you are save the string flattened in a file and expects to open as a normal JPG file, it is unlikely to work properly. The only way that it would be guaranteed to work is if you switch to the corresponding VI "unflatten chain. I don't know why it works in 32-bit mode, but it sounds like a lucky fluke.

For your use case, you probably want to use the VI "IMAQ write the string. This does not give a result string that is identical to the specified file format.

  • IMAQ vs NI Vision

Hello...  First of all a question about IMAQ...  I've seen many examples of LabVIEW which includes IMAQ VI...  What is necessary to own or buy to access these IMAQ vi?  Second, what is IMAQ versus NI Vision?  NEITHER Vision a more recent name for what was IMAQ or is it something else entirely?

I have a Developer Suite license and thanks to that I have many versions of LabVIEW Professional Developer Suite (PDS) LabVIEW through LabVIEW 2011 7 (does not have 2012).  But I don't have any specific modules vision/image...  All I really want to do is open a specific. TIF image and view this image on a LabVIEW front panel led.  Short of owning any IMAQ or NI Vision vi, made the main PDS provides the tools I need to do this simple task?

And again, I'm lost in the word soup.  What is IMAQ as compared or contrasted with NI Vision?

    Thanks bob...

    Hello Bob,

There is a lot of information to analyze through this question, let thus starts at the top.

NEITHER Vision is the platform of any vision that NEITHER has to offer. This can be broken down into two basic categories; Hardware and software. Hardware includes our smart cameras, Vision systems shipped, Frame Grabber cards (PCI, PXI, PCIe, SMU) and other material. The software can be decomposed into Vision Development Module (VDM) and the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI). Sorry to throw in acronyms, but it will save some typing over the long term.

Vision Development Module, is the great global toolkit for LabVIEW Vision applications. The Vision Development Module includes several pieces of small software. These software include Machine Vision algorithms and several other pallets of treatment as well as the software of Acquisition Vision (SAV), which can be broken down into three additional parts. Here's where we come to the VI IMAQ, Vision Acquisition Software includes IMAQ IMAQ i/o and IMAQdx. IMAQ and IMAQ i/o are free software, and IMAQdx isn't.

    Here's a quick preview

    OR Vision

    • Hardware solutions
      • Smart cameras
      • Embedded Vision systems
      • PC and PXI systems
    • Software
      • Vision Builder for Automated Inspection
      • Vision Development module
        • Machine Vision algorithms
        • VI image treatment
        • Vision acquisition software
          • IMAQ (free)
          • IMAQ i/o (free)
          • IMAQdx (paid)

Now, as for your specific application the Vision Development Module is not included in the Suite of developers at least that specifically added to your package. However, you will be able to acquire and save an image with the base IMAQ VI.

IMAQ means Acquisition of Image and is a driver package for communications standards of different camera as well as several basic image manipulations. With the free IMAQ driver, you will have access to the VI listed in the knowledge base following.

You can download the latest version of IMAQ here:

    http://Joule.NI.com/nidu/CDs/view/p/ID/2758/lang/en

Alternatively, you can download a trial version of the software for Acquisition of Vision and then allow the functions of IMAQdx paid become invalid at the end of the trial period.

    http://sine.NI.com/NIPs/CDs/view/p/lang/en/NID/12892

Once you have the IMAQ VI installed you should be able to open the. TIF file and display it using the ReadFile.VI IMAQ and an indicator of the image.

I hope that clarifies the differences of our Vision, and how you can access to the. TIF file.

    See you soon,.

  • using vision screws of the earlier version of VDM

I need to support applications that have LV2010 with the Vision Development Module 2010 while my development PC a VDM, 2012.  The VDM developers are frequently new versions of IMAQ functions AND for some reason, changing the name of the function.  For example, this new version of VDM has a 2 excerpt from IMAQ instead of extract IMAQ.  Why change the name of this function?  It causes headaches for those like me who support several versions of LV and VDM because as much as I know, NEITHER did not leave the old IMAQ extract to a folder of compatibility where necessary.

In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have left the VDM 2012 updated 2010 LV Installer (I think it may have been an option to turn that off, I'm not sure), but at this point, except a bunch of UN-installing and installation, is it possible easy for me to bring back some functions of VDM 2010 as IMAQ extracted to my installation of LV2010?

    Hello DrMike,

Please use our forums. I can certainly understand the frustration with these changes, especially when it comes to support and use several versions.

The good news is that you can indeed find and use these previous functions. They are just hidden in the palette of functions, but can easily be accessed and used by entering the library of Vision and access to libraries of .llb. Please refer to this article in the knowledge base for more information on the location of the functions.

Your desired function will be located in C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\LabVIEW xx\vi.lib\vision\Image Manipulation.llb

    Dear community,

Seen my software robot with vision full.

I tried to make my robot run mobile (thus on a miniature laptop)

    I got myself a computer laptop 10'1 ", but I have a little problem.

Since its screen is very small, the output of the webcam is great.

What is 1/4 of the display of the webcam in my screen.

Or by using some version of VI for Imaq scale.

The problem is, if I use the IMAQ one, the cam will resize itself BUT the point and arrows on the image of the webcam

(the result of the vision software) is taken out of the picture, so I just saw a black and white webcam image.

I want those who will appear and resized at the same time.

Is there any function I missed in vision Assistant to resize its release somehow?

  • Why Auto-scale intensity images and how can I disable this?

    Dear Sirs

I display an image from a FireWire camera (collected with "IMAQdx to Image.vi") in an indicator of picture (Vision-> Image display) on the front panel. When the distribution of intensity changes, the overall intensity seems to auto scale. But if change the intensity in a part of the image, and I put a cursor in another part of the image, the Image information box told me that the pixel value does not change even if the visible intensity of the indicator changes.

I also made a comparison with the 'good old' graph of the intensity. So, I have to use 'IMAQdx get Image Data.vi' and place the data table before presenting the image in the graph of the intensity. If I disable AutoScale Z, a part of the image does not affect the rest, but if I turn it on, the image behaves like the display of the Image above. Obviously, there is a kind of automatic scaling in the display of images.

Can someone tell me if and how I can disable this auto-scaling feature?

    Best regards

    / Leif Nyholm

All pallets are applied to 8-bit grayscale images, the 16-bit image is converted to 8 bits before applying the palette.  You're right that it would be nice to be able to apply a rainbow palette to the original 16-bit image, but it is not available.  No doubt, you can write your own routine that would use a custom lookup table to convert the 16-bit image to an image of rainbow-colored, but probably would not bother.  The final image would most likely look exactly like the current image.

  • Vision and motion-Vision of the problems of public services

    Hello, everyone

I wrote a program to LabVIEW 2009 SP1 (Professional Development System), also I have the Vision Acquisition software (November 2009).

I developed this code under windows XP, I test before you deploy and it was OK.

After I deployed it, I install on touch Panel PC (with Windows XP Embedded), after I installed, it ask me vision acquisition software license, I activate over the Internet, and he succeeded.

When I run the program, I'm dealing with these messages:

Error-1074396157 was held at IMAQ Cast Image

    Unauthorized copy of Vision OR

    Possible reasons:

IMAQ Vision: Unauthorized copying (Hex 0xBFF60403) of Vision OR

When I delete the vi IMAQ Cast of my code, deploy the code and install it again, my program worked fine as I want. but I need to use tools, (I have a tray also with resampling of Image, but also error)

Commercial vision and movement-Vision-Image Manipulation - resampling

could you tell me what is the problem?.

    Thank you

    Hi Al-Zahrani,

You have the Vision Development Module on your development computer as LabVIEW and Vision Acquisition software?  Also, could you confirm that the screws are work and does not?

IMAQ SetImageSize IMAQ GetImageSize and IMAQ create work without error?

IMAQ Cast Image and IMAQ resample do not work and the license error is produced?

If this is the case, I believe that it is due to the fact that these screws are included in the Vision Development Module (see screws that are installed with OR-IMAQ and Acquisition of Vision Software).  In order to use them on a remote computer, you must have a license for the execution of Vision engine.

  • Help on Perspective correction, Image stitching and then pattern matching.

    Hi all

As a newbie in LabVIEW, I don't know a lot about machine vision.

I need for my project automation, stitching the images (from 4 cameras, 90 degrees). Do the perspective correction and then form a label (which is actually pasted on the jar).

Please share your experience on the same type of project. And help me to proceed with the development of the project.

Also find enclosed all the pictures from the camera.

PS: Due to budgetary constraints, I use very basic USB cameras available, and the attached picture is the actual image.

To be able to correct the image for distortion, you first have to calibrate it. Assuming that your setting of the camera is constant (i.e. the bottle always at the same place in what concerns the cameras, I would first of all paste a grid around the bottle calibration and then take a few pictures of this grid with all four cameras.)

    We install a calibration grid, you can print: C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\Vision\Documentation\CalibrationGrid.pdf

This example will then show how you can learn the calibration using the images of the grid, and then the correct images would have taken you without the grid.

    \LabVIEW 2010\examples\Vision\2. Calibration Example.llb\Nonlinear Calibration Example.vi Functions\Calibration\Nonlinear

Note that you need to recalibrate the system if something changes (lens focus, camera or bottle of position.

After this step, you should have 4 images 'straight' which have been corrected for distortion and which can be used for sewing.

For sewing, unfortunately, Vision Development Module does not include an exit of the seams of box function.

If this is acceptable, you can use some third party software that provide features couture, such as Photoshop Autostitch, Hugin, Ptgui, Panorama Tools, search for Microsoft Image Composite Editor, CleVR Stitcher or Adobe Systems.

If you need to do everything in LabVIEW, I can point you to some of the tools provided with the library you can use to create your own algorithm of seam. This part is certainly the most difficult of your project.

Image stitching process can be divided into three major components - image calibration, registration and fusion. We already talked about calibration.

-Image recording is to couple features in your images in order to align them. You can use tools like the corresponding model and edge detection for this purpose Watch examples of vision LabVIEW to know how to code in LabVIEW.

-Image mix is to process the images to account for the difference in brightness of images from several cameras.

Histogram analysis on the different images and applying a lookup table are simple tools that you can use for this purpose.

Images can then mingle with features like IMAQ ImageToImage.

This thread also talks about sewing:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/machine-vision/image-stitching/m-p/860414

Hope this help get you started. Good luck with your project.

  • VBAI: How to correct the vignetting?

One of my vision for the future projects will require a very sensitive inspection on a flat surface for the variations in light brightness.

I intend to use a large ceiling fixture for a light almost uniform from all directions and use a lens of the sensor 1 "with a camera imager in a format more small low noise to reduce the effects of vignetting of the lens.

However, even with these steps, I plan, overall image, there will be some amount of variation in the apparent brightness of surfaces.

Clearly, if I was using Labview/Vision I could write a trivial VI to multiply each picture with a picture of correction (with a uniform surface of perfely).

Is there a way to accomplish this effect in VBAI?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nelson

Vision Development Module 2015, published in August, we've added the new field Correction screw flat that you can use to calculate or estimate the images of flat ground and the acquired images correct with it.

    Examples are found here:

    \National Instruments\\examples\Vision\Image Processing\Flat field Correction.vi

    \National Instruments\\examples\Vision\Image Processing\Flat field Estimation.vi

My recommendation is to try the feature in LabVIEW and see if it works well with your images.

The latest version of the expedition of the VBAI (2014 SP1) which was made available before Vision Development Module 2015 does not yet support this feature. What you can do to use it in this version, is create a VI in LabVIEW 2014 SP1 that implements the Correction on the flat ground and call using the LabVIEW execution step.

It will be natively supported in the next version of 2015 VBAI.

    I hope this helps.
