Vista 64 SP2: when you run windows update, trustedinstaller takes 100% of one of the drivers for more than 20 minutes

I recently bought a new computer, when I run Windows Update there is a process called TrustedInstaller.exe, taking 100% of one of the cores for a very long time (> 20 minutes).

I have vista 64 SP2 and all updates installed (took me over 3 days to complete).

Also, when I try to install additional features of windows (for example. IIS) the same thing happens, trusteinstaller takes 100% of the base and install new features forever.

I have not installed additional software so far is very little probable that a virus or spyware is the cause. When I'm not updating the an or install features of windows, the computer running quickly and the cpu load is not high at all.

How long was the computer connected to the internet before you installed Avast?

Can update you Avast manually?

The above, see if a reset fixes the problem:

Whenever I'm doing a windows update on Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

At closing, it jumps to step 2 of 3 then is usually stuck on 0%, I let this go for about 30 minutes, then manually restart my computer and updates seem to install fine. I am looking for a solution to why updates don't correctly install on tap down and to reboot?

    Hi StuartEvans,

    ·         Did you the latest changes on the computer before this problem?

    ·         You receive an error message/code?

I suggest you follow these methods before proceeding with the update of windows.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software .

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After installing windows update, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 3: Follow the steps in the article.

    We need more information!

Borrowing another post by ElderL (the same "JoseIbarra' that Elizabeth23 already mentioned):
Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

What is your Internet browser and version?

Do you have the Windows Desktop Search installed issue?

Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

What do you see (exactly) that you don't think you should see, and when you see it?

What do not you think that you should see?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Once you answer these questions to the best of your ability, a lot of people here (don't forget that almost all of us are volunteers who are also using Windows XP) will probably be able to help quickly resolve your problem.
That (ElderL also) might help, too (because its results will contain many answers to the above questions):
Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click OK, and when the system info summary appears, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here in your next reply.

For video device and driver information, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.

This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

  • Error 80072EFE when you run Windows Update on Win7 so wireless

You try to run Windows update on a new laptop from Toshiba with Windows 7 installed and a good wireless connection to a router I get error 80072EFE rather than a list of updates. If I connect directly to the router the updated list comes through fine. I can then unplug the router and download updates more wireless.

Initially I was running tried to reinstall as 32-bit, 64-bit Win7, but made no difference. Tried to update after I just installed Win7 before Norton and other applications on. Contacted Belkin and they gave me a checklist of the router to do, but not better. Someone at - it ideas? The problem is reproducible even with Norton and other installed applications. If you connect the router updates Windows detects the updates to install. If you work with wireless it gets error 80072EFE.

    Phil

If I connect directly to the router the updated list comes through fine.

Until you get your wireless connection problems straightened, run your manually check updates when you are connected to the router.

  • Run in the background for more than 3 minutes?

    Hello

My application is a timer-app. It works very well for 3 minutes in the background. If I put it on five minutes, it doesn't work (in the background) for 3 minutes, then it stops. (it continues when I open the app again).

In my view, there is a 'window' of 10 minutes before, but now it's only 3? Is it possible to use beginBackgroundTaskWithExpirationHandler or something like that to ask for more time?

Apple allows only long substantive events for certain types of applications, for example background audio apps, as you have noticed.

This kind of situation would be better served with a local notification.

Do you have other accounts of users on this PC?  If you install this update from the main account?

You should get the number of the update of the updated history list and then download the file here: Microsoft downloads.
If sure that nothing else is running, and then install the update manually.  Give it a try and let us know the results.

The built-in webcam is from manufacturers of your laptop, and therefore all drivers or webcam app is provided by the laptop manufacturer.
