Vista - cannot install updates

Been having problems with windows update uses a Compaq Presario CQ50 race (laptop), Windows Vista Home Premium got SP2 and it's 32-bit operating system.

A bubble comes mainly to the top of my clock saying that windows cannot check the updates click here to correct. So I click it and it takes me system and Maintaince-setting to Windows Update.

the only option I have is to check the updates so I click on that and it starts updates and that's all it does nothing the load bar is constantly ongoing.

The latest updates have been installed on February 27, 2010

I hope someone can help

Thanks in advance

Daniel
