Vista: Cannot see wireless networks - I know they are there.

I'm contracting at Microsoft and just installed the company issued IT Vista. Everything works fine: I joined the appropriate domain and can access all internal servers and the Internet with the ethernet cable is plugged.

However, I don't know how to jump on the wireless network. My host OSX (10.5.6), I see the Microsoft WLAN airport is accelerating. Connection to the WLAN MS requires that I am connected to the correct field in Vista (I am), but I do not see the wireless networks - as if there is no such thing as a wireless NETWORK card.

VMWare Tools are installed, and Device Manager shows my NIC is "Intel Pro/1000 MT Network Connection. I use the connection of NAT in Fusion. Diagnosis of the problem in Vista, he said: it is not an installed wireless device.

Connection to the WLAN MS requires that I am connected to the correct field in Vista (I am), but I do not see the wireless networks - as if there is no such thing as a wireless NETWORK card.

It does not exist. Take a look at: VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > Machine virtual Basics > virtual hardware specifications

If you need to post by connecting to WiFi since in Vista then you will need to install a 3rd party USB WiFi NETWORK adapter in the Virtual Machine in Vista.

  • Fuze sees no podcasts but I know they are there

My computer is running XP, service pack 3

    Firmware is v01.02.26A

Down under settings of the "rocket" says I have 0 songs.

The "rocket" is in MSC mode.  I slipped and dropped to a folder that contains podcasts in the Podcast Directory and the directory of the music, but the "rocket" don't know they are there.  I can see them when the "rocket" is connected to my computer and I am using Windows Explorer, but when I disconnect the player it says "no songs".  When I reconnect the drive, the computer always see the files.

Also, when I use the 'disconnect hardware safely' on my computer to disconnect the "rocket", my computer tells me it is offline, but the "rocket", said still "connected".

I use PodNova and juice to catch and download podcasts on my computer.  I used the same method on my Sansa E250 and it worked perfectly.

One more thing that I just noticed.  There is a special podcast that I can see and play.  I just download it.  I can't see it if it is in a subdirectory music or Podcast, but I can see it if it's right there.  Its genre tag is classic, or so it says in ID3 Editor Lite 1.4 v is otherwise likely to be the problem?  (I'll check and after an update, but now when I try to 'disconnect' it I get a message saying that the device cannot be stopped, so I shut down my computer, which means I'm going to lose this screen).

Beta version? It is of version 2.44

You can also find it at CNET download.com.

It is a very well established and stable program. Not some software by weird night.  More than 100,000 people have gotten only CNET.

You must set the default (Tools/Options/Mpeg/Tags, write to ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1), browse to the file (file/change directory or by double-clicking the file and find mp3tag in the menu), highlight and save, it is converted to the correct version. Once the default value is set, it takes less than a second.

Make sure you edit the file on your rocket, not on your computer, or if you want to be completely meticulous about it delete the file on your rocket, difficulty that a your computer and send it again.

If you really set the tag with mp3tag, and a properly labeled podcast is on the "rocket", I'm puzzled that your rocket can't not - so in Podcasts, then under music. (If you're in mp3tag, give it a name you find and call the "Podcast" Genre.)

You asked, why is it so difficult? Because the ID3 tags are not normalized.

  • Satellite P300 and Win7 - cannot see wireless networks

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite with Win7x64 and I bought on eBay an AR5008.

If I boot Linux I can connect to wireless networks.
However if I boot in win7 that I can't even see wireless networks. If I run diagnostics I get the radio is turned off.
Even with ConfigFree I get the same message, even if the switch on the front of the laptop is on.

What can I do? I tried all the drivers!

    Hello

Normally, you can enable or disable the WLAN connectivity by using the equipment and the FN + F8 key combination switch.
    Did you check that?

I guess for the FN + F8 key combination you need value-added package. You can download it on the Toshiba site.

Last but not least, works WLAN with preinstalled OS from Toshiba?

I have checked through some of the forums, but couldn't find an answer that helps me, so I post here.

I am running Vista Home Premium SP2.

I make sure that my router works fine (I am connected via my phone), my device driver is showing no problem in device manager, and my wireless switch is turned on. All other configurable in Control Panel Network is set to automatic.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    Maybe this can help.

Make sure that if there is Wireless Utility a utility vendor is not running with the native Windows wireless utility.

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

If all the foregoing is OK and it does not connect to the wireless router. Journal from any computer that is or may be connected to the wireless router with a wire, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless streaming is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security .

Another way is to copy in the menu of the router and then paste it when asked of the wireless card.

  • Equium A200-15i: cannot see wireless network adapter

    Hi all.

I tried to install the drivers on my laptop wireless without a bit of luck.
My network card works, and I can connect to the internet via ethernet. But wireless doesn't work at all.

I checked under network adapters and Device Manager, it shows realtek fast ethernet nic and 1394 network adapter.
In the other devices section, it shows Ethernet controller... I tried to score for the drivers that I downloaded but it says "no new pilots could be detected.

    I hope someone can help
(also - wlan is enabled in the laptop, but nothing happens - and it only shows my connection to the local network in network connections)

I see that your wireless network card is not mentioned under network adapters in the Device Manager and so I m 1005 sure that Wlan card driver was not installed.

I think that you were unable to install it because you used all just a bad driver!
    Equium A200-15I belongs to the * PSAE2E * series.

Please check that you have chosen the right notebook series and downloaded the correct driver.
As far as I know this unit should support the card of XB63L Wlan Atheros 11 b/g (13ch).

  • Intel WiFi Link 5100 network card - cannot detect wireless networks

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-1270us. My wireless card is an Intel WiFi Link 5100.

Running Windows Vista 64 bit, Ubuntu Linux, Linux Mint and Fedora Linux (various versions, all), the wireless works fine. My desktop computers to work with wireless cards to connect to the network work very well, and all computers (except mine) to connect to my home network very well; which means that it is not a problem with wireless networks, or with my network card. I try to manually connect to the network, but it can't find it. Diagnosis requires that the card is disabled, and that I should turn it on via the switch on my laptop running: fact.

During the installation of Windows 7 64 bit, I cannot see wireless networks (and therefore unable to connect). Re-formated and reinstalled again, check the wireless connectivity between each batch of Windows Update, but it has never worked.

I downloaded the latest drivers from Intel, via Microsoft Compatibility Center (version 15.2.0 driver).

There is no system restore option because he has never worked as a first step, except in all other OS, I got on the computer. Microsoft Compatibility says the map is compatible, then Device Manager shows no problems. The network adapter is active via switch on my laptop.

Happy that you guessed it sorted!

    Hi Tatiana,

    ·         Have you tried to install the drivers from the manufacturer's Web site?

    ·         Have you checked if the network card works on another computer?

Download drivers card network from the manufacturer's website and check manually.

    http://www.TRENDnet.com/downloads/list_subcategory.asp?SUBTYPE_ID=1353

Alternatively, you can deal with this problem due to security software. I suggest that disable you the security like anti-virus and firewall software and check if the problem persists.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Call the helpline for the manufacturer of your network adapter. It is likely that neither Windows nor the router have problems, it's just a matter of getting the configuration on both put in place settings to work properly together. The manufacturer of the router will be the best resource to learn how to configure their device.

  • My office wireless icon is x'd - cannot detect wireless networks.

My computer screen suddenly went black this evening - the monitor was still, the fans were still humming, but it was totally insensitive.

I forced a stop, and when I rebooted the computer, my wireless icon has been x'd out. My computer cannot detect wireless networks (there are a half-dozen or more in my building). I tried a good stop and restart, but the problem was still there.

The Network Diagnostics tool told me to check the router, so I did--but all other devices in the House are connected very well. I thought it would be a malware, so I ran a MalwareBytes scan, which turned up nothing. Then I reinstalled the drivers from the card WLAN - no luck there.

System Restore has not solved the problem. ipconfig says "media state: disconnected ' for my WIFI adapter, but I don't know how to fix this. In the devices, the Broadcom WLAN card Manager, he says "this device is functioning correctly.

I work from home, so it is important that I can access my wireless. Help, please!

    Hello

You have the latest version of the BIOS?
If this isn't the case, then you should first update the BIOS!

The latest version of the BIOS is on the European driver Toshiba page and it can be modified running Windows OS.
As far as I know, you must use 2.5 or later version BIOS.

    Check it!

  • Peripheral Windows cannot see my network... confusing! Help, please.

I have 3 windows-based devices.  Portable... Desktop windows 7, windows 7, windows desktop 8.  All these devices connect wireless to my network at home.  Currently, none of them can see the wireless network... they see networks (IE my neighbors) but not my network and therefore can not connect to it.  I just installed a new router, but it was exactly the same with the old router.  New router is Netgear nighthawk... former AC1900 was cisco Linksys EA4500.  My devices apple and android phone view all network and are able to connect to it.  The network seems to be invisible for that windows devices?  Help, please.

    Thanks in advance.

Shawn is on the right track if its terminology is misleading.  802.11 g and 802.11n are protocols, not frequencies.

Your router is dual-band, which means that it can use the radio the 2 GHz and 5 GHz bands.  It seems that it may only use the 5 GHz band.   NICs 802.11n and 802.11ac may support only the 2.4 Ghz band, as is probably the case with your computers, or both.  It seems that the router can be configured to use 5 GHz only.   Check the settings.  The default is to use both, but it is configurable.
