Vista: Cannot take more. Satellite A105

A year ago, I had an A105 with Vista Home. I put 2 GB of memory on it (it's 1.66 MHZ). I just got SP1 on it. So I gave it a fair chance, but just no longer tolerate Vista. It is slow, slow and really unpleasant to use. I've tweaked quite strongly, but I can't use it effectively for almost 5 minutes after turning the power on. In addition, there are constant hard disk activity, even though I disabled indexing and other stuff. I guess I could keep looking for the magic tweak, but I'm just thinking this time using "downgrade" to xp pro. I have a CD to install XP Pro extra under license.

So the question is, how much a bungathon it would be? I've read several discussions elsewhere on how to do it. Above all, it boils down to find the correct drivers. Everyone of here and have advice or a link to all the drivers for that computer in the configuration of xp? Useful tips, especially after installing XP - it's adding drivers part I'm worried? Installation of XP would have most of the drivers anyway?

Appreciate any advice.

Thank you very much!

George

Hello

Downgrade to XP is always an option for the customer and toshiba taken in charge by the drivers for devices. But sometimes, as these computers are designed to run under windows vista it's sometimes to go the hardware manufacturer and download the driver directly. Please let me know the exact model of your laptop so that I can check if all the drivers are available...

See you soon!

  • Error in device IO after installing Vista on Satellite A105-S334

    Need help please!
Recently, I did a full restore of my computer Toshiba Satellite laptop.
My computer came pre-installed with Windows XP Media Center edition.
I had upgraded to Windows Vista, which was one of the worst computer decisions I had made.

That's why... I did the full restore with the factory restore disk that came with my laptop.
Before restoring, my CD player worked fine.

Now all I get is an error message "the request cannot be performed because of an i/o device error."
When I put in the disc, I can hear it turn. I see even my mouse cursor will turn to a disc as if she was about to open the drive, but the error message.

I tried to reinstall the driver... no luck. I also tried to change IDE properties that don't seem to work either.

    Someone please help!
If it helps, I have a rug * drive his DVD Ram UJ - 841 S Satellite A105-S334. I can't boot any CD, however, if a disc contains a few documents, it will open up very well!

    Help, please.

Stand by. I'm a bit confused.
If I understand you right you can use the drive as a boot device and boot media is readable, but you cannot use the drive just under the operating system. Am I right about that?

Have you noticed this problem right after the clean install of OS? Did you remove some pre-installed software components? Did you install additional software for burning CD/DVD?

    The whole is really mysterious. In my opinion, there are two options;
Either your have used and tried to install a bad graphics driver or there is something wrong with your GPU chip.

You are 100% you tired of a graphics driver to the right of the European driver Toshiba page?
If Yes, then I recommend contact the ASP in your country, as this could be really a hardware problem.

Also I found you second secondment in another thread

and I think this must be a graphics card problem.

    Hello

Since a few days, it takes more than 30 to 60 minutes to open Firefox on my laptop. I'm on Vista and have Anti Virus. I already tried to reset firefox, uninstalled and installed again. My version of firefox is 29. But nothing seems to help.

Can you please help in this regard, that I really like using Firefox, but because of this problem, I am forced to use other browsers.

    Thank you
    Gerard

It is possible that your security (firewall, antivirus) software blocks or limit Firefox or the process of plugin-container without you inform, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission get full and unrestricted, access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

    See:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problem.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting on the problem

I upgraded my Satellite A105-4384 to Windows Vista professional. I downloaded all the updates driver from Toshiba Web site and since... my willingness to print spooler service is running do not.

It starts without error but dies immediately. Please provide a fix for this. FOR INFO. He died w / no installed printer.

    Hello

I don't know what exactly, but I wonder if the print spooler service has something to do with Toshiba directly or maybe you should ask Microsoft which is bad it.

I use Vista Ultimate on older Satellite M70 and I can print all my Word documents.

  • opening of session takes more than one minute (win vista)

Hi, I have vista premium 32 bit version with 4 GB of ram and 2 x cpu 2.00 GHz each I have no problem with the hardware and all drivers are up to date and my whole system I revised myself, but I can't work out just why he is more than a minute at the start screen of vista with the scrolling green bar? Now I don't know what im doing with my system, but im either missing something or there is a more serious problem. I just found a solution that gets rid of the problem but he always comes back.  the solution that I found was if I reset my read-ahead using a piece of software called tweakVI my computer starts perfect as it was just installed fresh lol. BUT after I rebooted to new that dates back to more than a minute to boot.

I used boot procmon log too, and I got 1 thing that takes a lot of time at startup, close to 80 seconds. Svchost.exe notifychangedirectory path: c:\windows\tasks and the result is success there is 4 wires still taking 80secs and a little more ideas what can I do with this?

I also tried other things like (clean boot) disable all non-microsoft services and which does not address the cause, as well as audit service task scheduler to see if he was on a departure delayed but it is set to automatic.

I doubt that it was a Windows Update.  Simply charge things.

Frankly - until the boot time go beyond 3 minutes on a modern machine, I think very little of him.  At initialization time means very little compared to how it runs once it is up.

I systems I demarrer start from SSD, installs own, etc.  With the things that start (antivirus, antimalware, various services for wireless and wired networks, firewall, etc.) sometimes it can take more than a minute--sometimes two.  Generally not - your stay below / 1 minute.

What is your exact (of cold/off voltage) (three trials minimum) start?

What a warm reboot (choose to reboot and when the powers of the screen wide going / empty to start loading, start time)?

Use "AutoRuns" to see what everything starts up.

"Process Explorer" allows you to really dig into what is currently running.

  • Re: Satellite A105 - recovery DVDs cannot start

    Hello

Satellite A105-S4064 my boss was a serious problem, the only solution was to do a restore of the operating system. I have inserted the first DVD and started the process. He then asked for the second disc, after some time, there was an error that it could not continue.

After another chance, I got a new error when I start with disk 1, the error was "NTLDR is missing", then I tried with a different Windows XP CD which also impossible to format the HARD drive.

The HARD drive would be defective beyond repairs? Please help me, summer work on during these last days. Thanks in advance

I agree with you and think that this problem occurs due to faulty HARD drive. Try to get a new one and start installation of recovery.

You have done the right thing and tried OS installation with facilities of Microsoft CD, but you can see that the problem persists. It must be because of faulty HARD drive. I really don't see any other explanation.

  • Satellite A105-S361 - update Bios do DVD cannot reboot

    Hi all.

    I have a Satellite A105 S361. I guess I got the BIOS 1.70 software.
because there are two possible updates for her in the Toshiba download website.

So, I've recently updated my BIOS v2.0. In fact, he warned that after the update
It would be impossible to return to v1.70, but I never thought that it might cause some
    problems.

After the update, now I am unable to boot from the DVD-ROM. I tried
change the boot priority in the bios, by pressing 'C' (stands for CD)
in the trunk to the top, also press F12 to bring the boot list. Also
I tried with my recovery cd and about 5 linux CD bootable.
None of this has been successful and if I remember the update of the BIOS
and eliminate the possibilities, which can be the cause of the problem.

Then I'd be extremely grateful some hep with this issue to make it possible
to boot from the DVD ROM.

    Best regards.

As far as I know, this series laptop designed for the American market and as a result, you must use the BIOS from the Toshiba page we.
I hope you have done it and used the good BIOS. Bad or not compatible BIOS can do some problems!

However, the fact is that it of not possible to reverse the BIOS to the primitive version on the simply average. In your case, that only a technician of the ASP was able to help you but I wonder how the BIOS update would affect booting from the CD/DVD drive. IF the CD/DVD drive has been recognized and then a boot from CD or DVD should be possible.

You attempted to set the BISO default settings? Check it!
BUR if it doesn t help has then contact ASP in your country!

  • Satellite L505-10J - cannot play more than 30-60 min

    Hello

I just bought the Toshiba L505-10 days last week and I'm really satisfied with my choice, but when I run a game like Counter Strike Source or Risen I have some strange problems. The first 30 to 60 Minutes are Ok, but then the sound starts cracking and my mouse stops (Razer Lachesis) shifts when I hold a key on the keyboard (for example, W to go forward). When I go to my office while playing this problem disappeared (I opened Notepad down W and moved the mouse. No problem at all). When I switch back is there once again. The only solution to this problem is to restart my computer. Then I can play the next 30-60 minutes before it starts all over.

I have already reinstalled Windows 7, but the problem is still there.
When I use my Touchpad instead of my mouse is the same thing. Cannot play more than 30-60 min...

This is not acceptable, because I want to play games on my cell phone at any time.

Hope someone can help me and sorry for my bad English, I'm from the Germany.

    Hello

As I understand it, this problem occurs only playing games.
There is no problem to use the laptop with another application.
    Is this good?

Hmm how about graphic card driver update and BIOS update?
If more recent versions are available then it would be desirable to update!

    Check it!

  • DVD drive is dead - l need to reinstall XP Satellite A105

    Hello world

My wife went on vacation in Hawaii, and while she was missing, its Satellite A105 (is no more under warranty with a dead DVD player) started to malfunction to the point where XP where freeze at startup.

I tried everything I could, but it wouldn't boot.
So finally I took a DVD USB drive formatted the drive with killdisk and tried to use the recovery disk to at least get the operational unit. Problem is that the unit does not complete the installation I get the following error:

    Windows cannot find c:/bin/errordialog.exe

I thought it was the disk so I cleaned it and still the same thing, since I was a student, I had access to XP pro from the msdn network so I got a copy and still the same error.
I don't have a big enough USB flash drive, and the laptop doesn't have a floppy so I'm stuck with no way to restore the operating system... Needless to say that the wife is not happy with me!

I managed to get Linux installed without problem, but my wife wants his laptop back to xp and will probably hate me until I can correct what I did. Help, please!

    TIA

As far as I know it s is not possible to boot from the CD/DVD USB drive and reinstall the operating system by using this procedure.

I would recommend therefore to replace the CD/DVD drive with a new, then boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD.

The CD/DVD drive is an essential device for laptop and it is worth having a what functions and trouble free work.

    Welcome them

  • My Satellite A105 is trolling

I have a Satellite A105-S4074 and we work badly lately, I did not install any drivers or program. The problem is as a 'delay' in everything I do. I noticed that when I was listening to music or when I started a program that has sounds because they cannot be read fluently.

I have this problem windows starts slower that it usually does. I had this problem once and the solution was to reinstall windows. I wish that any solution that you can give me. Thank you for your attention.

    Hello

To be honest, I also think that the new installation of the operating system is the best solution. Especially if you don't have enough experience with the operating system.

This time, you can try to optimize the HARD drive activity and run the Disk Defragmenter tool. You can find it under start all programs accessories tools drive system Defragmenter.

Please mark the C volume and click DEFRAGMENT.
After you have finished, restart your laptop. Please post the results. There are a few more things you can of but we do this step by step.

    Good bye
