Vista - Code error: 0X8007007B (cannot install Service Pack 1)

I'm running Vista Basic; I have not installed Service Packs. When you try to update, I am able to download the packages, but I can't install them. After a few seconds, I get an error:

An internal error occurred during the installation of the service pack.

Error code: 0x8007007B

What does that mean? And how to fix it?

Hey Laurent,.

Suggestions from the Microsoft Knowledge Base article below may be useful for obtaining the installation completed successfully.

    Hello

    Method 1:
I suggest to temporarily disable the antivirus installed on your computer program and then try to install service pack 1. Check out the following link.
    Disable the anti-virus software
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software
NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
    Method 2:
    Step 1:

Try to put your computer in a clean boot state, and then try to install Windows vista service pack 1 manually.
By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. Read the following article.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: after the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Original title: I "error_instaling_function (0 X 80070001)" in the installation of service pack 2 windows vista how do I solve this problem?

I want to know how I can install the service pack

    Hi jose Luiscastanedab,.

Thanks for posting that query you in Microsoft Communities. It seems that you are not able to install service pack 2. Provide the following information:

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You use a third-party security software?

    ·         What is the full error message?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Place the computer in a clean boot State to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow step 3 from the link to start the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 3: You can also install it manually by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

  • Cannot install Service Pack 2 using Windows Vista Home Edition or anything else on the internet.

    Hello

I tried to download and install Service Pack 2 using Windows Vista Home Edition, or anything like that on the internet without success. According to me, the key word is internet or a block of Vista from the internet to install anything. Many people here get the same error 80070005 for SP2 as I am, but I think that the problem is with Vista, how the system allows any installs or blocks installed from the internet. I suppose that some are able to go through the download process, but installation is where it does not pass through. There are moments where it seems that the installation of SP2 works, but it will fail eventually. Other times what ever happens to the installation process. The same goes for all other downloads and installs from the internet. I am able to install a program that already exists on the computer, so I know that installs works just not the Internet. Do not send me a link to install because it probably won't last through. I may be able to download but installation will not pass by so that the program will not work. I used the words installation and internet a lot for some reason please take account, when responding.

    Thank you

  • Cannot install service pack 1 for Vista

For almost 2 years, I try to install service pack 1. When installing to part 3 of 3 back changes and is not installed. I called the Vista support almost 10 times, they also helped me online. I've tried everything.
    What can I do?

How to fix the Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service pack installation issues:

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?  Who were these applications that run in the background when you tried to install SP1?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?
