Vista does not START, the keyboard does not work.

My power went out and when I turned on my PC, it says that the keyboard is disabled. I can't boot without a keyboard menu.

I put the Vista Home Premium to reinstall disk in and nothing changes, it's still a black screen that says that the keyboard is disabled. The USB ports have power to them, and the keyboard works.

Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you!!

Hello

Yes the data can be easily removed from the hard drive, unless he too missed it, by putting the
hard disk on another computer as drive 2 or a later version, or using an external USB drive
case. One of these methods would be that data can be recorded and/or saved. Of course
This computer can possibly be repaired and which should not affect the data on the disk.

I hope this helps.

Always try a PS/2 keyboard.  Maybe your PC is not able to access the BIOS, because the keyboard is USB.

  • Pad at the top of the keyboard no longer works after installing Windows 7

I have a cl dv7-1273.  Just changed from Vista Home Premium 64 for Windows 7 64.   Win 7 installed OK.  After you install the pad at the top of the keyboard no longer works in the dialogs like this.  When I entered the numbers here I had to use the keypad.  Keys still work in Word, Excel, Evernote, etc..

Someone on the forum had the same problem of pad during the upgrade to win 8.  They solved the problem by uninstalling Comcast constant guard.   I removed a constant guard and now my keypad work.  Is there something in constant guard that is in conflict with the keys from HP laptop during upgrade to Win 7 or 8 Win.

    Hello

Did you the latest changes on the computer before this problem?

Before the windows update follow the methods check if it works very well.

Method 1: Put the computer in a clean boot state before proceeding with the installation of windows update.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After installing windows update, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.

    Disable the anti-virus software

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

  • Activation key for Vista will not work

Re-installed Vista (valid copy) 3 times on different computers in the House and then tried to intall on your laptop - now the product key does not work. So rather than buy a new product key for Vista, I prefer to get Windows 7 but do not want to spend $$ if he's not going to work. The laptop is stuck on activation without another internet access a screen that direct me to Microsoft to buy a new product key for Vista. Try to install Windows 7 with a drive will overwrite all this nonsense Vista activation?

    Hi joelmc26,

If you have a product key then this "only" usable on computer product key "a". If you used the key poroduct to simultaneously install Windows on 3 different computers you're wearing violation of your license agreement. To be honest, if you do this, then I'm surprised that you got that day. If you install windows on another computer "you" he remove it completely from the previous computer.

This error message receive you about activation? Already used, for example product key? To obtain the active product you must telephone Microsoft. See this link from my Web site:http://vistasupport.mvps.org/product_key_already_in_use.htm the service is automated, but you will get finally a 'real' person, if you carefully follow the instructions on my Web site. If you use the same product on three different computers you will not get an activation code. If, however, you have taken off a Windows Vista-based computer and then install on another, then you need to explain it to Microsoft. Then it's support technician if it gives you an activation code. If everything is legal and above all Council then there should be no problem.

    Hello

I ' v got a computer toshiba laptop Vista x 32. Last week he began to do a lot of strange things that are quite annoying.

First of all, when it is connected to two networks wireless or ethernet, explore and chrome, open and run fine but the network in the tool bar icon has a red x on it. When I try and open the network and sharing Center, it crashes.

This causes the following problem. He now does open kind of folder on the drive hard or Administrator program needs approval. Previously, I would get the dialog box and screen gray, but now he is nothing when clicks or opens a new window but crashes. Other programs such as itunes does not open, but the office is strangely very well...

Also, when online any kind of e-mail attachment or program download does not work. Shockwave flash blocks on bbc iplayer, but youtube works. Cannot open the PDFs online or

Everything works normally in safe mode and from there, I ran Defrag, disk cleanup, auditor of errors and a 2 system restore nothing doesn't. I also tried the software audit tool microsoft malicious who found nothing.

First check if your drivers are working properly, go to control panel, then Device Manager, then make sure that all of your drivers. Avoid any sign of danger on them if there so try to update or uninstall, or back the driver to resolve the problem.

Then, make sure that your system is clean. using the analysis

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/

    http://www.systweak.com/antispyware/ and try

    a-squared emergency USB key

    http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/download/

    http://www.Avira.com/en/download/index.php

    http://www.SurfRight.nl/en/downloads/

then clean your system of unnecessary files using http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

then if the problem persists then prepare your computer to clean boot by typing msconfig in windows searchbox in startmenu, then press on enter then disable all startup items and any of the services of windows, then restart! see if it makes a difference? If she did then go back and see that caused the problem.
